I think it would be awesome if the precursors decided to build some kind of kaiju that would be controlled by one of them from inside the monster. Like, they saw how good it worked with the jeagers and decided to make their own kind of biomechanic jeagers.

What if the precursors followed our example of piloting massive constructs like the jaegers, and replaced the primary brain of the kaiju with a biomechanical interface similar to the pilots. This would allow them to apply their advanced mental capabilities to the kaiju as if it were a Jaeger. The second brain would compensate for the lack of drifting, granting them a tactical advantage.

+Tommy Broadbent Actually, no they couldn't. Have you ever wondered why they started with "Category 1" kaiju instead of skipping straight to Category 4 and 5? I think the explanation was cut from the movie, but the novelization explains that The Breach started small and had to grow over time. So apparently they can't just create a Breach big enough to send a hundred at once.

Sounds like the Precursor are a prime candidate for “Civilizations that are too dumb to actually exist.” If the Precursors are advanced enough to open portals to other worlds/dimensions for the purposes of expansion and resource gathering, why couldn’t they expand into a place that wasn’t occupied by an aggressive native species (dinosaurs and then later on humans)? The universe is a huge place. Why would I want to fight over resources and land, fight off a violent native species, and then terraform when I could find a place that’s not occupied, has everything I need, no violent natives, and terraform that place? The whole “aliens form beyond who want to wipe us out for water and resources” trope is actually pretty stupid. Water and heavy elements are actually quite plentiful in the universe but we as human think they’re scarce because we don’t have the tech to get to them. A space faring or inter dimensional race is advanced enough to acquire these materials without ever encountering us at all. They could get all this stuff without ever even making their presence known to us. It makes for an interesting movie and entertainment, but at the end of the day, it’s just not realistic.

It is possible they could decide to use the idea of the Jager and decide to merge with kaijus themselves to even the playing field when it comes to intelligence and tactics. Also, going by the fact that there will be so many Jagers in the new movie leads me to believe we will be seeing category 5, 6 and possibly 7s appearing, or they will face hordes of lower categories to compensate for the higher number of Jagers, it will be interesting to see what they com up with.

They’ll come back but now the jaegers will be made from machine and kaiju parts. And only be able to be piloted by kids. They’ll become engaged in an epic battle, but it will ultimately end with everyone trapped in a time loop. The precursors will create a human child that will be sent to infiltrate the jaegers, but in the end will become fascinated with the protagonist and will help to close the loop and finish off the precursors for good. IYKYK 😅

Pacific rim 2 will be a touching emotional drama about the collapse of the jaeger industry and the interpersonal relationships between the crews afterwards, as well as the general progression of humanity towards a utopean, nationless world. Why? For the same reason that manifest destiny would probably have been halted if the native americans had suddenly started employing artillery barrages, but a thousand times worse, because while there's only one america on our planet, there will be billions upon billions of worlds and you're not going to mess with the guys who built robot suits and fire nukes at you when you can just go ruin some primitive society's day. That or we go full circle, tasting blood we reverse engineer their technology and send titans through the portal to antagonise them instead, and we can have a movie about the futility of war as we watch a precursor's whole family eaten and torn apart by a giant. Erin precursor? Eh? Eh?
