@@MRCrazyKorn I mean, you're right. Look at Star Wars, they had to ruin all the OG heros, then kill them. Avatar: Legend of Whorra, ruin Aang, then delete him. Marvel Comics, Ruin all the old heros, replace them, then send those replacements back in time to humiliate the original heros. Writers nowadays spend more time butchering whatever they're replacing then they do making a hero that is worthy of the mantle. If they spend half the time making a character that is good and is worthy of the title (Into The Spiderverse is a great example. My Hero Academia is another) then people wouldn't be as upset for as long. It doesn't matter how you do it, people aren't going to be ecstatic that THERE hero isn't going to get anymore stories, BUT if I know this character and his whole involvement in MANY stories was pointing to him taking the mantle up then 1 ill se it coming and 2 ill get to know and like him a LONG time before they put him in as the protagonist. Now granted, this takes talent and a respect for not only your fan base but also the character which modern writers don't have. There hasn't been a new I.P. in quite some time.

Hell, I thought the Upgrade Predator was going to be a Bad Blood- a Predator who's broken the code of honor Yautja live by- and that the "Fugitive Predator" was hunting him for doing so. I mean, with how much emphasis Yautja place on hunting down other "abominations" such as Predaliens, it makes sense that a Predator who genetically alters himself would be deemed intolerable and hunted down relentlessly. Not that I want to defend this absolute cringe worthy dumpster fire, but, snipers are not one trick ponies. They have multiple skills. Not just " shoots good at range". Military snipers are skilled in field craft( living/ operating in the wilds), stealth, camo. They are also, generally, highly disciplined. They have to be in order to penetrate into enemy territory, usually with just them and a spotter, without being detected, sit on a target zone, sometimes for days, without moving or giving away their position , or even their existence. That being stated, this line is still dumb. This movie is still dumb. This character does not come off as disciplined or very skilled. Nothing in this movie really makes sense.

Why is so much of the predator tech automatic now. Doesn't really make you a great hunter when your equipment does all the hunting for you. You don't get to brag about "Yeah, my helmet shot this guy without me having to do anything". If what this movie’s saying is true then why wouldn’t they have killed Mike Harrigan (Danny Glover) at the end of Predator 2? Or Alexa Woods at the end of AVP, why would they leave them alive if they were super strong and capable humans who would’ve made excellent gene donors. Oh yeah I forgot, this movie will reference Predator 2 and AVP, it’ll take plot elements from Predators, but it won’t honor the lore they established nor follow up on it in a satisfying way. Hell it disregards the lore of the entire franchise, including the extended universe. They didn’t even drop the actual name of the species, y’know the Yautja, despite having a perfect chance to include that part of the lore. I appreciate that Shane Black wanted to do something different, but in my opinion when it comes to beloved franchises, new creators should build on top of already established lore instead of demolishing it.

How I would have restructured this movie. First off remove the pandering kid, and everything about the Predator race altering themselves genetically. Have the villain be Sterling K. Browns character still as a director of a project, however instead of only capturing and researching they are also attempting to replicate Predator technology with the ultimate result being the Predator Killer Armour, among other prototype weapons. The Rouge predator that arrives is not acting against a his race but attempting to recover or destroy the technology captured by the humans to prevent them from advancing too quickly, with either result being they advance weapons to the point they blow up the world or become legitimate threat to the Predator race. Along the way the Loonies who are actually just a team that was in the wrong place at the wrong time are captured by the agents then freed when the pred attempts to break in, with them both eventually teaming up to destroy the facility via a wrist bomb that was taken from a captured predator, and in the end they have to fight Sterling's character as he has donned a PK suit. the predator is injured leaving the humans to kill the villain. The Predator leaves the planet for the camera to pan over to see a fleet of predator ships de-cloaking to show what would of happened if Rouge failed in his mission.

My twin sister actually is autistic (Moderate to Severe), and she had heard about that particular plot point long before we saw the film. She wasn't remotely upset or offended by it: she just thought that it was one of the most genuinely idiotic plot developments she had seen in a motion picture - ever. Want to know how to make this movie better, change the story completely. Have the Upgrade Predator be a "Bad Blood" who has gone to Earth because he wants to use the native lifeforms, not necessarily human but animals, to mutate himself to become a stronger hunter. This is considered blasphemous in the Predator culture so they send an elder with his two sons, comprised of a sniper and close combat specialist, to hunt down the upgrade and kill him. The Upgrade crash lands on earth and gets to work on animal hunting where he runs awol of McKenna which will fuel their rivalry throughout the movie. While the three predators are out hunting the Sniper gets kidnapped by the government and taken to the predator study facility, which is also where McKenna and the Crazies will be staying at, and the Father and Specialist will storm the place to save him but during the scuffle as the Crazies are getting away with the doctor they accidentally take the device that they use to hunt the Upgrade. After a series of scuffles, the Crazies and the Predators meet up and trade the device back to them only to have the Upgrade, now mutated with the DNA from crocodiles, rhinos, and elephants to attack killing one of the crazies and forcing the preds to retreat. Now the crazies must join forces with the Preds to take the Upgrade down once and for all by hunting him down, causing McKenna to bond with Sniper for their preferred method of killing and the Crazies to admire how badass the Specialists is. They finally track it down to the ship that was the preds only means to leave earth and set a trap for Upgrade. This, however, ends badly as all the crazies get killed, and the Father and the Specialists get his arm ripped off. The climax ends with McKenna and Sniper fighting Upgrade together and barely being able to beat him until Specialist shoots him in the head with a sniper gun disorienting him, sniper slashes open his throat with a knife, and McKenna shoves a grenade in its mouth killing him once and for all. Sniper and Specialist leave with their father's corpse and gives him the knife as a sign of respect, ending on the Predator's homeworld while the brothers are hailed as heroes by their clan. So we have a kickass action-suspense movie, with no out of place comedy, developed characters that explore the morality of killing for honor vs killing for efficiency, not retconning the lore of the Predator franchise, and no unnecessary kid character with a forced message that Autism is the next stage of evolution. There, I fixed the Movie!

Like perhaps reading a joke... then just cock it's head before throwing the piece of paper with the joke on away with a growly-noise... as if 'rolling his eyes'. A funny way to show fish out of water, and for the predators to be shown that they actually can have a interest in the opposite sex, since so far we've not seen single female predator on film( now that's good diversity hollywood, please make a film with a female predator) and not a hint that predators have a interest in sex, romance, or even the opposite sex, which for the very intelligent and sentient race at least on level with humans, doesn't work.

I think especially during wartime would be really interesting. Like Predators attacking soldiers in the claustrophobic trenches of World War 1, or joining the battle of Stalingrad, picking off stray soldiers or stalking snipers and lone survivors. I thought it was a reasonable thing for the Predator to do, and illustrated that these accomplished hunters study their prey to be able to imitate behavior to put the hunted at ease. Plains tribes use to imitate bison calves during hunts before the introduction of the horse so that they could get close to them and lure herds into traps. But given how shit this movie was, I don’t for a second believe that was the intention, and I can’t get over the fact that the driver would have follow up questions that would need more than a hand gesture.

I saw this thumbnail today and thought, "Hey I remember that movie was a thing. I love the original Predator and still wanna give entries into the series a fair shake. I better oughta give it a watch before going into reviews about it. " So I tried to watch it on amazon and the log in wants to send a secondary password to my wife who is at work all day and not likely to respond for hours. This disheartens me and I give up, and decide to just watch the review anyway. It was only while watching that I realized I'd already seen it. It all came flooding back. I barely graduated high school and suck at writing stories , let's see if I can come up with a better story idea to take care of this roaring dumpster fire of a movie than those hollywood writers did . The Upgrade predator is a predator from a clan that has secretly become bad bloods , as their secret hybridization program is very illegal and against the predator honor code . The other predator was from a rival clan and had infiltrated an Upgrade fortress and discovered what they were doing . When he took this information to his clans ruling elders he was told it was not enough information to bring to the elder predators that rule over all the clans , as it would be his word against that of the entire upgrade clan . So the lone predator creates the predator killer suit to give to the humans of the stargazer project in secret , because sharing tech with the humans is forbidden . If the humans use the suit they will be able to kill enough of the upgrade predators that the ruling elders will be forced to intervene to find out why so many hunters are dying and when they find the altered bodies of the predators their crimes will be exposed and their clan will be destroyed . The sequel to the predator would be set some time later . The stargazer project has taken out half a dozen Upgrade predators that came to earth to collect genetic samples , as well as predators from other clans . The Upgrades rival clan passes this information along to the ruling elders which then send in a team to clean up the mess by recovering or destroying any evidence and finding out how the humans have suddenly become so successful at hunting predators . The Upgrade clan arrives first to destroy all evidence of their crimes before the elders team can find it . This leads to the Upgrade predators attacking project stargazer facilities to collect the bodies , which tips off the stargazer personnel that something is up because the Upgrades seem almost like they are panicking which is a behavior that they have never shown before . Then the other team arrives , this is a team not of hunters but in fact MILITARY grade predators that have been sent in under the command of an ancient . They would have super predator's , stalker's , hydra's , blazer's and vanguard's . They would also begin hitting stargazer facilities to recover bodies and tech , destroy research and avenge the slain predators . During this the ancient would begin to piece together what the upgrades were doing on earth and abroad , leading them to the decision to declare them bad bloods and wipe out their clan . The hunter killer squad of the stargazer program have holed up at their last facility at an abandoned military base and are prepared to face off against the Upgrades , then the elders team arrives and it turns into a three way free for all . It turns into a chaotic slaughter-fest as members of the three factions team up at random to take down a superior foe and just as quickly turn on one another to ensure their own survival . It see's all three sides being decimated and the battle comes down to a fight between the Upgrade clan leader , the predator killer and the ancient . The ancient and the predator killer have to team up against the upgrade clan leader but they eventually take him down even though it costs the life of the predator killer to do so . Out of respect for their courage and ferocity the ancient orders his team to spare the surviving humans and tells them that the bad bloods are fair game for them and any tech that they recover in the future is theirs to keep , but if they interfere in their hunts again there will be hell to pay . More time passes , project stargazer is still around but they no longer hunt predators because of their agreement and because the predators took the predator killer suit with them and destroyed all records of how to duplicate it . Now they act more as game wardens , cleaning up the messes left in the wake of a predator hunt , silencing witnesses that get to vocal , recovering abandoned tech for study and taking care of the occasional bad bloods that show up . In exchange the predators discreetly supply them with limited terraforming tech to repair the enviromental damage so that the human race won't go extinct . Wouldn't want to lose one of their favorite hunting grounds now would they . I'll finish it up here as I just ran out of ideas . It may be crap but its still better than The Predator movie that we got .

Where as a whole culture that prides itself on honor, skill, strength and the thrill of hunting dangerous game that could very well kill you is way more interesting. Just playing Devil’s advocate, and I haven’t watched this movie in a while so I’m just going off Decker’s review and there might be something from the movie I missed. One issue I’ve had with a lot of alien species/cultures in sci-fi is that they’re presented as basically a monoculture where every member of the species, no matter if there are millions/billions/trillions of them, all have the same beliefs, religion, language, values, etc. Is it too far fetched that there may be a (small) group of Yautjas who don’t adhere to the “honor, skill, strength and the thrill of the hunt” and may want to dabble in genetic hybridization, but the purists want to stop this from happening and are willing to exterminate them for their sacrilegious, abominable experimentations? Not saying that’s what’s happening here, but if we accept a wide range of variations within the multiple cultures of our one human species, why do/should we assume that everyone of a different species is all the same?

I think what more annoys me with this movie on that angle, is that the way everything is done it more just reeks of hollywood going the done to death route of "Make the monster bigger and basically invincible" combined with "Humans are super special and aliens are interested in our amazing genes despite said alien being demonstrably our superior in every aspect it seems." instead of being a serious attempt to add to the lore or depth of the Yautja. One thing I did actually kind of like with the AvP movie, was how it expanded the lore for the Predators in that they were actually the ones that came and taught humans how to build and such. Like they still showed the warrior/hunter side of the Predators but also showed that at least some segment also felt a desire to teach other races.

@@Tazkar Thing is that there's an expansive predator lore that explains that those that deviates from Honor the Hunt are Bad Blood predators and sure there are clans out there that are wholey labled as such and hunts for the kill, not for the honor. They are more like Human Hunters going out to shoot something that isn't a threat to themselves - rather than going out hunting a panther, armed with just a spear and a quilted cotton-armor... intent on bringing that panther back as a show of manhood or honor from the rest of the tribe.

It reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Lisa reads an article about how bad the future of Springfield will be. She went on anti-depressants until the end where she is stopped. And yet we don't get a resolution as to what caused her depression in the first place: the article about what will become of Springfield. Then again, the internet is full of BS, so she might have wisened up and dismissed that article as some crazy prediction some jackass made.

Originally the third act was supposed to have some kind of big fight in a city during daylight (some of it is still shown in trailers). But then Shane Black decide to reshoot it because "it wasn't scary enough".
