I bought this radio, an external speaker and the NY antenna when I started transporting trucks. It's been a good radio, but now I'm wanting something with a little more kick to it. Looking at the Stryker 44 compact CB. Did you show on any of your videos how to turn the output up on this radio?

If you hold down the mic button while holding down both of the right hand side buttons and power up the radio, you'll go into the secret menu that lets you adjust power level and modulation. I had to turn both of these down to get my 100w RM Italy amp to sound good, but now I'm talking DX cross country from my Jeep with this tiny radio. My settings for my amp were PL = 75 and AL = 60. You can adjust way higher, but my radio sounded terrible on air until I dialed the power and modulation back to these values. I arrived at my settings using my SWR/Peak meter inline so I could make sure the amp was putting out exactly 100W peak and not being overdriven. I imagine that means I dialed the President Bill back to about 2 watts. Surprisingly I'm getting reports that I'm nice and loud with the modulation set at 60. Anything higher and I start to sound like Charlie Brown's teacher... I'm really happy with these radios. I have two of them in different vehicles. With the RM Italy KL 200 P I'm able to even make contacts on channel 6 occasionally. I'm really happy with the compact size and full menu of features these have.

I’ve got a little hornet MOSFET amplifier with a variable That would be just sweet behind that little radio. I dig those tiny radios. You should try the Anytone smart CB it’s about smaller than a pack of cigarettes. You have to convert it but it’s really simple if you have a soldering iron they’re great little radios and cheap. Has low and high power too. Like 60 bucks new on amazon or eBay.

I don't think it has weather proof features. The speaker is the biggest downside to these radios and it doesn't get very loud. I can hardly hear people when I'm moving in my Jeep. An ATV would be even worse unless you were parked with the engine off.

Hey Eric on either of those president radios did ya try to turn them off and then back on to see if they would stay in the mode they were in (like scan) when turnws off?

They don't stay in scan mode. If you power them off and back on, they will just sit at the last channel it was on when the unit turned off.

I was given a small magnet mount antenna, and the connector is smaller then the one on my CB radio, so is it for an older CB or handheld CB radio

It maybe that it is for a totally different type of radio. It could be a 2m or 70cm radio antenna. Try and look up the part or model number to be sure it is safe for CB.

Over here in the UK the President Bill comes with FM on the mid block channels and also with the additional 40 UK FM channels. The thing that sold it to me was the size and it's functions. Best time to tell you how to change President Bill's Secret Menu: To turn power and modulation up. Start with radio off// hold both weather and emergency buttons in. (Right side facing the radio panel.) Push transmit on mike and then turn power on. (Only need three hands to do all this at once) You will see PL / AL on screen. Channel up/down rotates between both. With transmits button pushed. channel buttons up/down changes the values of PL/AL. Higher number of PL (Power Levels) will peak you out at 4.5 watts transmit. Lower number on AL (Audio Level) turns audio up. (Backwards). On a stock radio the audio level can't be over driven.

@@stevenjanuary3902 Max audio (AL) is 50. Low audio 185. I pulled My Bill out of the car and tested it. Audio Level number change really didn't make much difference. But PL (Power Level) at 145 gives me a dead key of 5 watts. I dropped down the PL number and watched the watts drop. PL number dropped to 5 and their was no carrier transmitted.. Other thing I noticed was when changing power level setting the audio of the microphone was cut off. I thank you for making me test what I wrote. Always do this with a antenna or dummy load. Though it is hard to kill a 4 watt radio.

USB port is a 5 volt 2.1 amp, use for charging only. It has no other function.

I'm looking for a radio where the Mic AND the Speaker is built into the mic so I don't have to run an external speaker since I have a perfect spot where I want to mount the radio but it would cover the speaker if its built into the radio and I may not be able to hear it very well.

Yes they have exernal mic and speaker ports. I don't know how to do it, but yes these are able to push out 20 watts give or take with a tune up.

Paul O Brien these radios are software defined and the Eu model you can select whichever band you want to run it on. UK or Poland freq and Fm the US version only has US AM on it looking at it here it reminds me of the midland GMRS radio chassis SDR we have over here. You might want to give Raymond Long in Dunkinely Donegal a shout to see if he can get you one. He also supplies 35 watt amplifiers for CB instead of modifying the rig. When I lived back home he was the guy to go to if you didn’t live in Dublin. IF all else fails let me know Seachta Tri a chairde! I will send him a mail and see what he thinks....many are telling me to wait for the McKinley EU to arrive as it will be way better and have ssb. Im just reviewing both of them as they would be more in my budget, everything else is way over for what ill be doing with it. I can recall back in the days (70's) channel 9 was serious business, if one were to use it for chatting someone would key up and set you straight. Is channel 9 still used as an emergency channel anymore?. Thanks for sharing!

channel 9 is still for emergencies but not to many places monitor it anymore. i read something saying the fcc made it an emergency only channel but not sure if that's true.

You can get a 6 pin to 4 pin converter to run power mics from, but then you loose the channel up/down feature.
