Politics will destroy Ghana! Is this NDC Ablakwa saying destructive galamsey started under the Akufo Addo government? Did Mahama not give many licenses for galamsey? I even heard that the reason the NPP is afraid of stopping galamsey is that the galamseyers are threatening voting against the NPP. I suspect nothing of significance against galamsey would happen before the elections in December.

Mister the Minerals and Lands Commission handed out 58 licenses between 2001 - 2016, if I am not mistaken. That number has increased to more than 1000 licences. Let’s stay with the Data. That has nothing to do with party affiliation. The mining sector is completely out of control and if we are not careful we will develop true mafia structures in Ghana. Regardless of party in power.

@@JG-yb3ht more licenses does not necessarily mean galamsey. One bad galamsey can destroy more land than 100 good legal mining. If the number of licenses needs to be curtail, fine. But the number of licenses should not be a direct correlation to galamsey. If the NDC dwells on the number, it just means they’re just jealous of the power and control the NPP has.
