Tali’s romance and character really is the best, from being a young naive girl to a capable woman and leader. Her romance amplifies this, by allowing herself to something for her own wants, rather then focusing on the needs of her people, due to pressuring herself to live up to her father. I think she's the best pure romance, in terms of the time she gets to develop alongside Shepard and the emotional weight of the bond. Liara gets more time but it feels more hollow. Ashley has good emotional payoff but she gets less screen time to develop as a character, and all the other romances get as much or less time than this one. Tali is the only one who has it all and she's easily #1 waifu

Could have changed some things about Jacob like for example: Make him idolise his dad like a hero and that inspiration lead him to join the Alliance to be just like him but have subtle hints in his dialogue that there are cracks and signs that his dad may not all be cracked up to be. In addition, during his loyalty mission when he finds out what his dad did, he should lose his shit (big deal since he's normally cool headed and doesn't let things bother him) and condemn and swear at his dad for a monster he has become ( insert dark knight quote here.) Keep the Original 3 choices on how to deal with his dad but have Jacob completely disgusted and angry at him. After the mission, The player should decide how Jacob should deal with the grief of the "death" of his father; either outright disregard him and remember him as a evil, cowardly POS, remember the good things/ values he taught him or let Jacob decide for himself. This choice should show the changes in his character and be more open up to Shepard. His romance on 2nd and 3rd should have discussions about his fear of ending up like his dad and being a monster and Shepard can reassure him that he won't. 3rd game if his dad was arrested, there could be a side quest where Jacob might want to rescue him despite being still angry at his actions and it could end with Jacob pinned down from reaper forces, his dad, showing genuine remorse for his actions and want his son to live, will sacrifice his life to save Jacob. This could make Jacob re-evaluate his view on his dad, a heavily flawed man who still did the right thing in the end.

Miranda is S tier and, with romance, had the best character arc going from an ice queen to literally begging you to promise you’ll come back from the suicide mission only to get fucked over in ME3 more than any other character. I’ll die on this hill. Samara is S tier. A woman who’s lost everything and for a moment she shows vulnerability when she leans into the kiss in ME2 only to pull back. “In another time, in another life” was very literal and it’s a heartbreaking story of a woman who only knows her current way of life and can’t allow herself to stray from it due to prior trauma. And Samantha’s A tier. I like her mix of nerdy and assertive nature and it’s cute when she talks about a future with femshep.

Jack deserved much more in ME3. In her Tattoo scene, if you don’t go for the paragon interrupt she will exclaim that you are hers. I also don’t like how chill she is with the breakup. It is out of character. If anything I would expect Liara to be more chill with a breakup than Jack. Finally, aside from Tali, she seems to be the most loving to Shep despite not showing it much verbally. A very underrated romance. I also don’t agree that she should have been a romance option for femshep. I get it if she is available for a fling aka the renegade option, but not the full romance. It’s clear she is romantically interested in males even if she is sexually more open to both genders.

I generally romance Ashley, and I enjoy it for the most part in comparison to the other ones as the rockiness makes the ultimate ending feel the most earned, and the ending on Earth when she tries to force her way into the final battle and trying to convince Shepard she can do it, and Shepard's "I know you can..." was a wonderfully emotional ending the fit her entire character and the growth she goes through in the course of these games literally perfectly. One of the few examples of good romantic writing in ME3 for anyone because the whole game is a crapshow of bad writing and everyone is worse off for it. Tali's great and a totally worthy relationship pick, but how can I take away Tali and Garrus as a couple from my top bro? That said, Obama makes a good point about her being too young seeming with the crush stuff, but I thought it was sweet too. She's great. The photoshop...eh. Hot take maybe but I didn't think it was as big of a deal as others. Miranda & Jack were both PRETTY well written, but the issue is just not a good amount of time spent with them and no worthwhile ending on Earth. Jack is a ton of fun when she calms down in ME3 and one of the few characters that feels like she actually improves in ME3, and to be fair if you break up with Miranda in ME3 her look of heartbreak is guaranteed to make anyone feel like the biggest POS in the history of the world. Liara is exactly what they said in the video and why I didn't like it. It felt like they were forcing it so hard on me throughout the games that I couldn't enjoy it. She is just too perfect. In my experience in real life that is just setting up for trouble down the line, so maybe it's a me thing. But I wasn't a fan.

I will never understand the accusations that Kaidan being "boring" makes him a poor romance option. He is, above all else, a Good Man and the kind you want to take home to your Rear Admiral mom. Plus his perspective during the Reaper War is valuable, and his awkwardness in a fresh ME3 relationship is both realistic and adorable. And yes, BottomShep is canon.

Yeah, I always go for the Tali Romance in my Maleshep playthroughs. For Femshep I go for the Liara Romance, even if I do think the Garrus Romance is thematically better.
