Since your dad hung with him, did Bob Dylan talk about The Pretty Things? Is there a reason he name dropped them in Tombstone Blues?

I was told I could have a beer with Brian in a Maidstone boozer being a big Pretty Things fan since the early days, would be arranged through a mate who used the pub but told Brian wasn't well...sad to say it never happened & Brian was gone..RIP Brian

@@finslaw My mother's father Douglas Bell, or "Da Bell" as we called him, served in the Eighth Army during World War II leading Montgomery's march across North Africa. And throughout the rest of his life he would rarely speak about his time abroad fighting for his country. I mention this because my father was exactly the same. Just like my grandfather he would rarely, if ever, talk about his life as a famous musician.

"I need a lover, someone new, and then to HIM I will be true" followed be a cheeky laugh. October 1964. Was this the first lyric in rock music from a gay POV? And with David Bowie taking notes front row, covering the song and considering Phil May "God." Birth of glam!!!

later traden zij op in z'n tv show waar de sologitarist lelijk de fout inging dit tot groot ongenoegen van Phil May..zijn helaas geen beelden van..althans door mij niet te vinden...mijn fav. nr. is, can't stand the pain, b-kant van midnight to...na dit nr. in bijzijn van m'n pa gedraaid te hebben met de smoes Hawaii muziek, mocht ik z'n stereomeubel niet meer gebruiken..hij verwijderde de naald...ik kocht stilletjes een nieuwe....ja ja good old sixties R.I.P. Phil May.....never forgotten !

Slight difference ,during this performance the Goofies were still at highschool ? and unlike the Groovies ,this bunch had charisma to spare.
