20:50 Just noticed it says "her" instead of "it." That's interesting! For anyone unaware, in the past, creatures have always been genderless. Only planewalkers had genders. This was due to creature spells meaning that you summon a copy of that creature from its home plane. The real creature is still back on its home plane. Legendary creatures still maintained a portion of their mind, but certain aspects, such as gender, were lost, seeing as it's just a semi-mindless clone. PLANESWALKERS, on the other hand, were the real deal. Casting a planeswalker spell meant that you were calling the real person to aid you in your fight. This is why they "die" after reaching 0 loyalty: They're not really dead, they've just decided it's not worth helping you anymore. But now that the planeswalkers have lost their sparks, it's very odd to see the fact that they still maintain their genders. Does this mean that you've still summoned the real deal? Wouldn't that mean that they could die for real? Or maybe it's just that the semi-mindless clone has more of a mind when it formerly had a spark in the original? Or maybe WotC just forgot. Who knows. I guess the second to last option is most likely?

Though WotC has apparently made the mistake of gendering a non-planeswalker card ONCE, on some dragon named Themberchaud. I’d say it’s an 85% chance it’s because she previously was a planeswalker, 15% chance it’s an error

I'm really looking foward to 'The Lost Caverns of Ixalan'! Especially the dinos! :) Personally I'm not into neon, full art and no border cards. Too overdone, modern and digital looking for my taste. Also those coin art cards are too messy imo. But I actually quite liked that pirate goblin card, that I can't remember the name of. Something seems more authentic in terms of that meso inspired look :) I'm definetly a lot more into retro frames, but can we also get back retro ART just in general? I find it more organic than todays overly detailed and very perfect looking arts 😅 I know there were a few alternative retro green cards in Aftermath that looks really nice. Got a couple of 'Animist's Might' in that treatment. On of my Favorite cards 😊 I would love to see some full blown retro dino cards 🤣

I love retro frames, and I'm happy to see them, though it is weird in that original Ravnica used the more modern borders, so, for example, the first styling of the shock lands (regular borders with the original art) feel way more nostalgic to me than retro border shocklands do.

​@Mordalon my brother in christ that's the main thing wrong with the game now. way too many variations and different product. every set now comes with 3 different booster types, commander decks, fat packs. collector boosters ruined foils. pulling a foil used to be exciting. now it's nothing special. even worse because current day card quality is absolute garbage and foils curl right out of the pack the game needs to slow down on product releases and just have 1 type of pack again and commander decks only once a year like the good days

Welp, Ixalan, or at least he plane where the continent sits in as a "Hollow Earth" world like in Edgar Rice Burroughs works or other pulp era stories is a nice development to make the plane feel more unique. not to sold on the idea of Cosmium and the ancient civilization trope but i guess we'll have to see more cards from the set, im still wanting to see more of the other side of the world though. I mean, Torrezon and the current situation after the legion got their saint back(she wasn't happy with the way these guys have been running the show back home).

@@Mordalon one company doesn't release multiple movies every month. Wizard's now releases a full set just about every month and as many secret lairs as there are weeks in a year. If someone wants to enjoy each release as they once used to be able to either through sealed events or drafts, its impossible unless they have a lot of disposable income.

The longer the rush of products goes on for the more likely I will be that this catches up with the company and they begin to see loses. Very few collectors can purchase something from each set and stores will lower volume to not get saddled with stock they won't be able to move. The rate of production is unsustainable. It's unfortunately something that is often reconsidered too late, since this rate of release is a Hasbro's behest for their investors. It's not like MTG will go away, but it will become hurt in the long run, since the stock market isn't built for long term success.

They only recently changed how Standard rotation works, and those are very much attached to how Standard rotates. Just because they aren't pumping them out doesn't mean they are discontinued.

@@Mordalon Standard decks traditionally release in April and Pioneer decks in October. We should have had a Pioneer announcement by now. Standard rotation shouldn't impact the Pioneer release, and even with Standard rotation changes, the last batch of Standard decks are obsolete since they have cards from previous rotation (Zendikar Rising - Forgotten Realms), so we needed a new batch regardless.

Idk about cringe, as that word is way overused, but it is disconcerting that the only other Mythic Rare lands on Arena rightly deserve the distinction, like Mount Doom and Maze's End. Mythic Rare is for cards that are build-arounds, not generic utility pieces. It should've been a Rare since Secluded Courtyard in Standard is an Uncommon.
