I agree, as a Villa fan we accept that results will be wonky here and there as Emery (and Monchi) are in the midst of building a team to compete with the best. And that's not achieved in a season or two. What fans should expect is that their players, the team go out with the intention of playing to win. And I have no doubt Ange demands that level as does Emery.
@tomeggleston367Ай бұрын
Media shat on Jose ONLY when he was Spurs manager, Conte ONLY when he was Spurs manager, Poch was hounded out with relentless questions about Kane leaving and how he had FAILED by taking Spurs to 2nd in the league and the CL Final. Spurs are judged differently by the media to all the clubs they were level with at the start of the PL era...we used to finish behind Stoke, Bolton, Middlesbrough, Fulham, Leeds, Newcastle, West Ham, Everton, Sunderland, Villa etc ON THE REGULAR. The fact that Levy has got us competing with the very best clubs in the best ground in the country is a staggering effort and should be worthy of praise, but the press, social media would rather the narrative be that we are failures, bottle jobs and a 'meme of a club'. Definite bias in the coverage - I just think it's become so common place to mock Spurs (led by the Keowns & Cundys of the pundit world) that even professional, dignified journalists can't offer an accurate, fair review of the club's trajectory over the last 20 odd years.

I don't agree with Nick Miller that Spurs didn't need another winger. Kulusevski is a talented player but he doesn't suit Ange's style of winger, he now plays as a midfielder for us. Johnson's very inconsistent. Werner is meh and will be gone next summer. And Son is great but getting older.

For this season I think we needed an.additional good Right Winger. Don't think Odabert naturally prefers the right. So that means we just have Johnson there

The use of language around Arsenal in the media to make them sound like underdogs is exhausting. It started off as ‘injury ridden’ Arsenal, which was quickly squashed by neutral fans who pointed out they are missing 1 starter through injury. Now it’s ’missing their ENTIRE midfield’. You could say Spurs are missing half their midfield (Bissouma). Spurs went over 6 weeks last season with Maddison, Bentancur and Bissouma all out simultaneously but the blame was put on Ange Postecoglou tactics when Spurs struggled. Arsenal are not underdogs here. Nor are they in a crisis of any kind. It’s just an insecurity in the media from their fans who want to take the pressure off. They know it’s a must win and after all the recent Ange criticism from the same individuals this spin covers their backs.

Comparing the drop off from Mickey van der Ven to Dragusin with “maybe” Martin frikking Ødegaard down to Ethan Nwaneri.. mental.
@rushnafwadudАй бұрын
And speaking of drop-offs, stating that Fabio Vieira seeming “oven-ready” to replace Martin Ødegaard by these well-informed panel is simply ludicrous. Martin Ødegaard is a world class player; probably a top 3/5 in the game at the moment. You can’t both have Mbappe and have a direct Mbappe backup. Such silly dissection.
@theswallow119Ай бұрын
You are underestimating how important Van De Ven is to Tottenhams high line. Odegaard is probably more important to Arsenal but you have talent on the bench
@rushnafwadudАй бұрын
@@theswallow119 I personally believe that same exceedingly high line will be their undoing. But comparing the two dropoffs is unbelievably underplaying both the importance and magnitude of the players in their teams and world football. Not to mention their understudies. It’s just a bad example, which surprisingly this professional podcast seems very prone to do when they don’t have talking heads like Ornstein and the likes. Bringing in the awkward Tifo blokes doesn’t seem to be working in their favour either. They were a good bunch when they were together, doing their own thing.

It's kind of funny listening to this after the Liverpool game given how condescending they were about Forest. I said we'd have difficulty against them, I commented on another video that I was worried that how we'd been playing wouldn't work against a team that sits in and makes it tough - surprise surprise, when they sat back and soaked up pressure we had no answer for that.
