Improve central access. Play 2 number 10. The benefits of playing inverted FB is to be able to push your midfielders high up the pitch. Play a skillful/technical false 9 instead of Havertz to improve central access. Play more skillful/technical ballers. Play attacking football (22-23 season). More horizontal position swap to add chaos and unpredictability. Martinelli performed well in 22-23 was because Jesus would go all the way to the left. Stop playing high crosses. Stop shooting at tight angle or from far away. Scoring is more about chance creation rather than finishing. If the chance is so high in quality, then it is almost impossible to miss. If Haaland takes 1000 shots from the corner flag, he would score zero. After Arteta arrived, we started to attempt a lot of poor “chances”, rather than trying to make it a bigger chance before attempting. We always shoot from tight angle, shoot from long instead of creating six yard box tap in, and we shoot when the defenders are still good in place.

I actually think we were fine initially without odegaard - the results at the time would agree with this. Where we've started to fall down is additional injuries causing more personnel changes. This in turn effects the chemistry of the side and after a few poor results you start to lose confidence and momentum. I think you'll see a different Arsenal over the next few weeks as the likes of odegaard, calafiori etc return and we hopefully dont have anyone else getting banned (saliba) or going off injured (gabriel).

@@AkeruZikorait’s not the points or league position or the red cards, it’s how we’ve been playing. Long ball crap. I love Mikel but this season looks like the team has regressed. To be fair we were dealing with the absence of Odegaard pretty well up until the point at which we also lost Saka. The sending offs in pivotal moments were also major influences and when you also add in defensive injuries, we have really had to battle multiple clusters of misfortune, the results of which and the actual match results have dented our confidence. Our robotic style of play definitely needs addressing though, Arteta has to find a way to 'release the handbrake' as Wenger would say

I agree so much that you cant assess a manager success by the trophies he wins, so as a player Arteta is very successful in bringing Arsenal back to the title race, build the connection with fans that we long lost, so now we are expecting more from him I think he did really great the last two seasons, getting the second in league, losing to Mancity just by thin margin, and he has the means to revive the team last Christmas after a series of defeat, so...I would say I totally trust his decision, though I am sometimes annoyed by the same squad list every match and the late substitution...

As usual, well done young man. Always enjoy watching your analysis. Arteta will retire as an all time great it will just be a tragedy if Arsenal gets rid of him before he attains that level. They won the premiership this year with a coach who stepped into the club that was an utter shitshow at the start of 2017, he was an older guy who had never played AFL and came with a teaching background and took the team from bottom to second in two years, then struggled to help the team make the last steps through all sorts of adversity. AFL is entirely a sport for psychos but far out it’s a good story. I cohost a Lions podcast if you’re curious to chat at all too

I think the liverpool comparisons is a bad one. First of all, klopp won a major trophy, arguably the biggest one, this was after being in a final in which they lost….tell me when was the last time we were even in a final? Lets start there before we talk jokes about klopp failing 7 times lol. Klopp installed a winning mentality which also was proven right by winning things. Ive said this before one mistake that will haunt us is not taking the so called “micky mouse” trophies seriously. What do u think pep was doing when he went on the carabao cup run? It was getting his team used to the idea of winning trophies! Getting them used to tournament football etc. Why isit when we play in a knockout round there’s still no confidence in us going through? What crop of our players have gone the distance? …havertz/merino….hardly much by way of experience. Arsenal need a trophy to cement the progress thats been made, trying to demand a big one, when teams like Liverpool under klopp waited years, city under pep waited years for a champions league….like brah in the words of haaland…stay humble eh! I want big titles but i defo wouldn’t be mad if we won an fa cup, carabao cup and came 2nd in the league. Its sooo much better than just 2nd. We just have high emotions to celebrate, at least others celebrated with a cup

The LHS really needs to click imo Odegaard or not The tactical versatility is good but is costing us with players not being able to break down low-blocks with line breaking passes We do not have players to break them down sadly and Not even odegaard helps out so we now rely on set-piece and outside-the-box screamers and transitions If we cannot get into zone 14 we’re not gonna win without it being fixed. We need a disruptive attacker who causes chaos in the box your Doku, Leao, Yamal types We have too many ball retainers in the team

My issue with Mikel isn’t that he can’t fix the problems, it’s that by the time he fixes them, the chance to win a trophy is gone. I love Mikel and I’ve defended him a lot, but we can’t spend forever being nearly men, the pique of any project is winning MAJOR titles. Every season he seems to make an error that costs us long term, initially as you said, he was new and there was a pathway, but 5 years in…. As much as we can talk about tactics and the manager, it's becoming obvious that some of our players aren't good enough. I know Martinelli scored against Chelsea but he has consistently regressed since his amazing season a couple of years back. Jesus likewise has had one good year with us and even that was curtailed a lot through injuries. Sterling... yeh I dont need to say anything. Trossard has been a good signing but his limitations are becoming clear. Considering how often we get the ball wide, you could argue our wingers are our most important players. I think part of what we are seeing in terms of decline so far this season is simply over reliance on our best players performing at their best (Saka, Ode, Rice) and not having enough quality players in the squad to really make us contenders when they don't. Having said that our tactics need improving, we dont get the ball forward quick enough on transitions, we are reluctant to play long diagonals in behind and overall play too negatively when we take the lead. Liverpool are much better than us in those three areas and that's why they are top of the league (added to the fact that they have more overall quality in wide areas).

To me this team are already winners. The line between winning and losing the league, especially last season, is so small. It’s no one at Arsenals fault we didn’t get that goal against Newcastle. Which would have won us the league. Point being u can be the best team in the league and still lose because of a bad referee decision. So to me this team won the league last season, we just didn’t get the trophy. I know that’s mad thinking but I hope some, logical people, out there get my point.

The only thing is giving time for Arteta to continuously keep making the same mistakes is not something you compare to a long relationship. It becomes incompetence and the very same fine margins he speak of but don’t make these adjustments is infuriating. We’re running a risk of losing our very same players to other teams with more ambition to go win trophies with them instead. Saliba and Saka are on very short contracts, we don’t want them to be our next Van Persie or Fabregas. You say we have a good squad however no signing came in to improve the 1st 11, we all knew a striker a clinical one was needed and needed cover for Odegaard, and Saka. And Sterling in Arteta’s words wasn’t his signing and isn’t really trusted. Merino has been awful so far and Caliafori still raw, none of those signings were needle moving. None of those scream Arsenal are serious title contenders and the form is indicative also to the underwhelming window. No ambition from the Kroenke’s as long as Arsenal is getting top 4. Who needs a Gyokeres when you have Kai Havertz who hasn’t scored in 5 away games?
@krtmlry271914 күн бұрын
Can you just imagine if Ode will be out again? He'll just revert back to that 4-4-2 in a heartbeat because he has no clear replacement for Ode. The longer he keeps playing Trossard and him not playing consistently just makes it worse for the entire team. I get that Nwaneri is 17 but why sub him at around 80 where he only has 10-15 mins to showcase what he can do?

Managers at the top clubs should be judged on major trophies. Despite what we feel about our club personally if we are honest with ourselves The Arsenal Arteta inherited hadn’t been a serious challenger for years and was slipping into mid table. His evolution of the team and results are to be praised. That being said it’s quite reasonable for the fan base to now be judging based on major honours given that in the last 2 seasons we’ve shown that we are a club at the top end of the table. So we definitely should be demanding a major trophy (moreso league than UCL). Winning a trophy buys you more time in the seat that’s why 2 in 9 saw klopp keep his job. Mikel doing what he has with the team is probably coming back to bite him now. Maybe the rise to a tad bit meteoric. I’m not saying sack him at all just saying now is the time he needs to win something major

We've been mediocre at best making stupid mistakes (trossard) time wasting looking for fouls making bad decisions (martinelli) the wrong team choice the manager trying to be a smart arse (pep tactics) etc etc we're not winning anything based on form and logic as much as I love this team/manager you can't start a league title challenge like that. We're not even entertaining maybe little individual flashes of brilliance but that doesn't win you leagues! We're so flat this season we are turning into a mourinho side!
@rorisangpitswane359513 күн бұрын
Here’s my opinion, Arteta has done a great job at competing for the title with the likes of Martinelli and Havertz up front but quite frankly we need fire power AND and Odegaard backup. We are The Arsenal, a UCL side that are going to finish top 4 and your telling me we can’t attract the likes of a Musiala? You’re telling me our best option on the left is Martinelli? You’re telling me Havertz is the only option and has no competition? This team is lacking star power and depth, we need to be ruthless this next Summer window because some players need to be replaced, others need to be sold, and star players need to be brought in. I love Martinelli but he’s not the player that’ll take us to win the league, Havertz needs competition, we need and Odegaard replacement and we also need more depth for Saka so we don’t overplay him and also Partey in case he leaves this summer.
