Sounds like a creepy but yeah very interesting book. I've seen videos on that Russia expedition type thing you were talking about. Pretty creepy. Lastly, if you like extreme cold, extreme slow burn and a chunker of a book, I would recommend The Terror. I'm not sure who wrote it, but I enjoyed that book quite a bit. Even though it was definitely a slow burn, it was worth at the end.
