The Price Is Right has an outstanding track record with impaired contestants. One Away, the only game with an audial cue on the show, is handled spectacularly by Drew as Marsha plays with her interpreter Lyndsey.

@@RainbowManification Very true. She knew that the crowd was cheering for her While they can't hear with their ears, they can hear with their feet so to speak which everyone can however hearing impaired people are more sentivie to sound them most. American Gladiators had a Gladiator named Siren who was deaf herself and she would teach the crowd to wave their hands and stomp their feet to let her know they are cheering for her.

I give interpreters alot of respect, whether it is for translation or for the deaf. They have a very important job to do as they not only have to translate exactly what is said and in a quick manner, but do it correctly. Otherwise, it'll ruin the flow of the conversation and create delays.

This is one of the handful of instances that i've seen of a deaf/hearing impaired contestant being on the show over the years, quite a rarity because i definitely recall seeing much more that are mobily disabled (wheelchair.erc) both when Bob was still hosting and through Drew's time up to now.

Don't look for more either. After the frauding that CBS has had to deal with on TPIR, us disabled people get more of a bad rap than ever, even for being honest. Guess I shouldn't go on a gameshow ever in my lifetime. They're fun to watch, but oh my you can't help but ponder if the network just cares about how "normal" you are or honestly cares about your disability. And that's all I've go t to say about that.

@trista1986 um... he's holding a microphone why wouldn't she be able to hear him? Clearly you don't know much about the deaf culture because it is extremely rude to talk to the interpreter and not the person who you are conversing with. That's like him talking to a Spanish translator instead of the Spanish speaker. He isn't having a conversation with the interpreter so he shouldn't be looking at them.

I at least want half of my dream to come true, to be the first blind contestant on price. My full dream, was to be the first blind contestant on price, during Bob's run, that way, he could make it official, and declair it as a "historic moment," and when I would've told him that I watched him for over 15 years of my life, he'd reply, "you are a loyal friend in true!" I'd certainly wanna play a game for a cash prize, not a car, but if it had to be, I'd sell it, if I won. I gotta be lucky, and do it on a show Bob does another guest appearance, should he do one, but I'd be happy either way to get on the show! after all, my mom was on the show aired 11/10/1998, and I'm still looking for that show!

The only misstep I think they did was Drew speaking to the interpreter and not the deaf person when dealing with the sound effects lady. When you speak to a deaf person and don't know how to sign, you should always speak to them and not their interpreter. It's considered rude and excluding if you speak to the interpreter to communicate with the deaf person.

If she had an interpreter not only can’t she hear but she can’t even speak either also if they allow disabled people on the show do they have wheelchair accessible stage and aisle for the audience

Yes they did had people in a wheelchair played. They just bring out a portable ramp or the ramp is just off screen.

As you can see sign language isn't that damn hard to learn. Deafness runs ramped in my family: my great grandparents were deaf, my grandparents were deaf, my great uncles were deaf, each of me and my younger siblings all had deaf godparents (tell the priest who baptised me and my kid sister is also deaf) my mom is hard of hearing, my kid sister is now 90% deaf and amazingly it has effected her speech I'm going deaf. As a baby my grandparents started teaching me sign language at the age of 4mths, when i because a mom myself I kept an EXTREMELY close eye on my kids hearing. When my grandma came to parents house for a visit my oldest son kept asking me "mommy what's great grammy saying and I told him so I tried reaching him sign language but he didn't want to learn he wanted to learn japanese so I did my best to teach him sign language but to no avail.. With my second son I tried once again to teach my child sign language he had NO interest so I started to teach him French. When I gave birth to my daughter I was ready to quit trying but I figured why not give it 1 more try. And it did work my daughter was easy to teach
