Ever, since I was a young girl, I have always been into my dolls. The oldest one I have was when I was 11 years old, but my father had taken me to the local toy store to get. She was well loved, and still looks incredibly beautiful. I remember selling off a lot of my dolls when I was having my first child and needing room for the new baby. However, after we had moved several times, and we had a little something down as the pandemic, I had began buying dolls again. And I found myself buying back the dolls. I ended up selling. I know, crazy, right! I am mediately fell in love with Byron Lars pepper and sugar dolls that were in a hat box. I had fought so long and so hard not to buy them because they were very expensive. Then my mother had passed away from pancreatic cancer, which was very difficult on me. I realized life is too short not to get the things you really and truly desire. So I got them off of eBay. Pepper was $189. Sugar was $230. That was not including shipping which is about $15 each. I wish I could say that those are the only very too expensive dolls I have gotten. However, I would be lying. I was able to get a Barbie coach new inbox and I think after tax and shipping she was probably about $210. And there was the Barbie and ken Moschino set which was probably $245. These dolls are still in their boxes, which is very unusual for me because I am an out of the box, remove old, body and place them on, made to move bodies kind of collector. I guess because they were so expensive. I just can’t do it.

Kada, I love your collector start up story! I had the same vision when I started to collect and as I got more into it and found other dolls I really wanted, had to adjust my budget a couple of times. But it is worth every penny. I am still grabbing every thrift store one I can get my hands on. 😁 The doll that started it all for me was a gifted one (Puerto Rican Barbie) and the most expensive ones are three that I gifted myself from Korea. They are ball jointed dolls and costed me a pretty penny, plus I had to wait about nine months for each one to arrive as they are custom made.

2018 Proudly Pink doll is beautiful $124.24 is a good price. I like Silkstone Barbies also. The 2022 Integrity Galaxg Girl is very pretty and I really like her blue hair. She also was reasonably priced for a Poppy Parker doll. I understand about the member prices, I put a strict budget on myself for my dolls and do not pay more than $300 for a doll. Adult doll collecting can be extremely rewarding and extremely expensive. I also limit myself to 150 Barbies and Kens. I also build my own Barbie houses. Your 2001 Holiday Celebration Barbie is very pretty. Kada, you have a wonderful collection of dolls. Keep having fun with your dolls, my friend.

My most expensive doll is Way Out West Pin Up Girl Barbie. Got her online for like $40 can’t remember if that was including shipping. She is stunning and will stay in the box. The second most expensive was Pink and Pretty Barbie which I bought online for $30 something with shipping. I had to get her because she was my favorite doll when I was a kid. I rerooted her hair, and I spent a fortune ordering all these different shades of blonde nylon doll hair until I found an exact color match to the original doll’s hair. It was worth it though.

My first doll I remember having was a tiny Betsy back in the 1960s. After that it was Barbie . I have great memories of playing with Barbie, Francie who I thought was beyond cool, and Skipper. I still have my original bubble cut Barbie. I just started becoming interested and collecting a few Barbies a few months ago. Wow has she changed over the years. Collection is a slippery slope lol! At least being smaller dolls they don’t take up that much room. I really enjoyed your talk on your collection. Price and value are two completely different things. I think your cat is not impressed with gorgeous Poppy Parker's price tag!!! 😶🙀🤣🤣 I have a very instable life generally. It became even worse the past 5 years. I don't buy expensive dolls. It is a choice. I guess I could but it would be really irresponsible considering my unstable situation. I should only thrift if I was sensible. I have some "expensive" dolls I had the luck to find for bargain prices but I would not spend more than £50/€50 for a doll. Right now, £30 is the maximum I would spend and I would prefer not to if I can avoid it. Luckily, I am quite easy going if I miss out on a doll or really want one I can't afford (... Fang Club Ghoulia... oh my! How much I would have loved that doll!). I thrift a lot and I love car boot sales. I have found amazing bargains that way. People are also great in boot sales and gave me dolls numerous times. I met lovely people in this boot sale and I have been given a bag of childhood MH dolls. It was so sweet and kind. I can't wait for the boot sales to reopen but I really want to be more selective. Reduced space and unstable life... and too many dolls! Oooops! 🙄
@kadawalden8 ай бұрын
I like that you know exactly how dolls can fit into your life in a way that doesn’t make it a burden and still brings you joy. And getting a whole bag of someone’s MH dolls! Yes! Dream come true! 🤩💗🏆
@darklight42518 ай бұрын
I really, really, love that Ghoulia! I don't know if I would have bought her in other circumstances with the Fang Club membership and the shipping and import fees. It is too much hassle for me. I have too many dolls and I really want to downsize. The process is difficult. Maybe I should start to save money for an "expensive" doll and refrain on buying more "ordinary" ones. Shadow High dolls look like collector dolls to me. I can't believe they were sold as playline dolls. It is also kind of crazy to buy them reduced for £12. How extraordinary! It was great for me for sure that kind of reduced prices. I enjoy your videos. They are fun and a breath of fresh air! 🙂

I think this is a really important topic for a Barbie channel. I watch so many unboxing videos and see their backgrounds lined with shelves of dolls in the boxes. They speak of having two of each doll. One to keep in the box and one to unbox and play with. Wow! These youngsters! How do they afford it? I love how you approached this topic which can be uncomfortable and even cringy, sometimes. I have been looking at the Fashion Editor doll for awhile now - she is one I really want. Also Pop Life Kelly from...??? 2003? I think. They are both in the $250 range although sometimes I see them unboxed and a little shaggy for less. My grail doll is, of course, the HAUNTED Holiday Hostess Silkstone. I can't see myself ever paying that much for a doll. My rule of thumb is to think how many hours I would have to work to pay for it. Two hours? Totally worth it. Two weeks? That makes me stop and think. Love your channel, your personality, your humor and your lovely relationship with Husband. This is a great channel I enjoy! ETA: I think the great thing about Barbie collecting is that it is as individual as the collector. We can all have the same dolls but our collections can present themselves as vastly different. I unbox. I only collect dolls with red hair. I don't care about having shelves and shelves of dolls. But I do enjoy seeing all the collections, pricey or thrifted, boxed or unboxed, blonde, brunette, redhead or BALD, vintage or modern. It's all Barbie and she represents something very special to each of us.

I found the AA version of the 50th anniversary doll last weekend at the flea market and I kind of regret passing on it. That seller always asks too much, in my opinion. I did walk away with a NIB Cher doll though! I shop almost exclusively at flea markets and thrift stores so my Barbies range from free to five dollars. Maybe new inbox I'll pay $10. Can't beat flea markets! My best finds have been golden dream Barbie, the brunette totally hair Barbie, Hollywood hair Barbie and skipper, superstar Barbie, probably like four pretty and pink Barbies, and then a bunch of Barbies from the 60s and 70s. I actually think my favorite though was dream date PJ who looks like she was just taken out of the box, and I got her for five bucks! I still have all of my Barbies ranging from 1980 to 1990 so the new ones I find get added to the collection.
