What happened to the 1st prince in the end?

He unfortunately gets corrupted by court backstabbing, ends up being as cold and calculating as the rest. He’s taken from Ruyi when she’s sent to the Cold Palace (framed for murdering royal heirs) and he goes to live with Chun. She isn’t cruel to him, but he sees she loves and aids her sons more while doing the surface level of support for him. Other consorts twist him too, so we see he’s already learns none of them love him like Ruyi. Unfortunately by the time he’s an adult even her love doesn’t save his good heart, as now he only sees her love as a means to elevate himself: she still had no sons so playing on their past affection will aid him becoming Crown Prince. This ends up backfiring and he gets publicly shamed by the Emperor at the Empress funeral service, same for 3rd prince, and soon dies from fever and self defeat.
