To answer your question, yes Jace and Luke are half-Targaryen so their eggs still hatch. Also, the other boys, Aegon and Aemond, are also half-Targaryen, they just inherited the white hair from their father. Their mother, Alicent, is of course a Hightower. Just to make things clear, all the children are half-Targaryen. It just so happens that Jace and Luke got Harwin's brown hair, but they're still dragonlords. You don't need white hair to tame dragons.

Imagine a man in a position of much more power than a female underling. Imagine that man making an advance on that woman who, given the difference in power, isn't exactly in the position to say no without fear of consequence. Imagine that woman breaking a vow in the act of succumbing to the man with much more power. Then imagine that all the woman is offered in return is continued sex on the side for everything she gave up by relenting to his advance. Now imagine another man watching all this play out and laughing at the resentment that woman feels and saying things like "aw.... did he hurt your feelings?" That's what Alyce does in this reaction.

She was young and underestimated the Game of Thrones. She's living with those consequences now. Personally, I appreciate that she's written and portrayed this way. She's human and makes and learns from mistakes. However, I think she's regrouped by the end of this episode. She's at Dragonstone, which is hers by birthright. Now she can properly plan out how she will take the throne promised to her, without being hovered over by Alicent.

You can see Alicent and Ser Criston's teachings, but at the same time, they have made him the same type of weakling that his father is. If he was to become king, I suspect he would be easily controlled by his councilors.

So I don’t think Daemon was actually going to kill his wife this time around tbh haha. To me he actually came across as content with her and done with all his scheming ways and he obviously didn’t really care for the children, ignoring them and didn’t have any external pressure and wasn’t so fixated on an heir like his brother. I think Laena just misinterpreted his intents getting scared (and understandably so) with what she saw in that moment and because she would’ve heard the rumours about Daemon and also thought she wasn’t his first choice either so she took matters into her own hands which the Kings wife couldn’t do and despite the difference we ended up with the same result with both the mother and child dead. Though this time that was a certainty for both lol. Just a brilliant contrast between the scenes and characters in a similar dilemma that reveals their differences. And all the more tragic imo that all these emotional moments could be resolved if people just sat down and had therapy with each other or at least acceptable communication skills haha. But that’s life and you stay silent when you wish you hadn’t a lot of the time

Her kid wasn't just a bastard, he was literally not Robert's, who is the Heir and only the heir's children can succeed. In this case Rhaenyra is the chosen heir so her children have the first claim but that can change with Viserys literally just changing his decision, which is why Alicent is so bent on 'convincing' him.

Alicent has a point, though: Rhaenyra is, as Ser Criston told her, ridiculously privileged. The one thing she's got to do is have a legitimate heir... and she can't even do that. That is childish. 8:00 Pay close attention to what Helena says and it is very important, I wish they had shown us more about Harwin and Laena that watching the series for the agent feels more pain when the characters die, so when I saw the two characters die I was sad for the death of both of them but not to the point of crying for them two characters, you know, I think the writers didn't want to show too much of the two characters for a simple reason and because they probably don't think it's important to the story 17:44 When Laena says she wants her husband back what she married is true because the daemon is depressed and just realizing that he only stays at home reading a book and not sleeping well the daemon gets depressed he misses Viserys and Rhaenyra but he doesn't want to see them, the daemon we know he doesn't see and so 28:09 The daemon had said no with his head but even so Laena died and sad I prefer what they did in the series than the book in the book she loses the baby then she becomes depressed then one night she decides to go to her dragon but on the way she falls down the stairs and dies so I prefer it in the series and it's more exciting because we see her bond with the dragon, Daemon loved his wife so much that he didn't show any sign, he loves her and his daughters only the writers don't show it anymore in the book firewing and blood that he loves his daughters and his wife more Unfortunately, the scriptwriters prefer not to show that there were two deleted scenes, one with the daemon hugging his daughters, the other deleted scene and the daemon sending his daughters to the room because they were seeing the mother in the room trying having the baby so the daemon arrives at the time of Laena's death and was unable to prevent her death A curiosity for anyone who has watched Doctor Who, this actor who plays Aegon is the son of David Tennant, he is David, he has worked with Matt, they have both been Doctor Who and now Matt is working with David Tennant's son I recommend you watch Doctor Who, it's very good, this series, if I'm not mistaken, has 13 seasons, it's really worth watching. I recommend you watch Doctor Who.

I think alicent is minding her own business at least in part. As the queen with children, and with the concern rightfully (considering the world we’re in and her father’s communication) that Rhaenyra will raise to the throne then remove her and her children as rivals, this all does have to do with her. Rhaenyra has no reason to kill her kids unless Alicent gives her one, which is what ends up happening . Alicent ends up causing what she doesn’t want to happen by trying to avoid it, a self fulfilling prophecy . What Alicent is doing, is treason . If Viserys wasn’t such a weak king, he’d probably either divorce Alicent or at worst kill her and he’d be completely justified in the world of the show . All he’d have to say is “she was plotting to go against my succession and put Aegon on the throne, and thus betrayed me” which is the truth .

BUTTT… If the successor is having a bunch of babies out of wedlock (in this world) and wantonly making bastards, when in the show canon at least, Aegon as the first born son is a much more popular and traditional choice for the succession - that is at the very least a very VERY unwise decision by Rhaenyra. And also as you pointed out, there is a brutal and almost Machiavellian aspect to these royalty wars and schemes. If Rhaenyra breeds bastards, gets raised to the throne, is faced with a lot of push back and preference for Aegon from the common people and by many lords and ladies, Rhaenyra may be put in a position where she has to remove Aegon, Aemond and Hel (forget her name… the one who loves bugs) from the equation - or else face assasination of herself and her bastard children and/or all-out war. To say the Queen Alicent “isn’t minding her business” or should live and let live in this scenario is a bit fun, modern, understandable, insouciant, etc. but also… not really the most sequitor of strategies or thoughts regarding this world.

This is the first episode that I would say that the king is weak. Seemingly for 10 years now he's let the queen and princess walk all over him. Cole's anger is about more then not being over it. I believe it had more to do with Rhaenyra's guilt over mothering yet another illegitimate b-stard and so, wanted to be there when Alicent and Viserys saw the child for the first time, so that Rhaenyra could at least monitor that situation (i.e. stem Alicent's accusations that the child was not legitimate to the king).

*An* *Ode* *To* *Olivia* *Cooke* Olivia has these big, beautiful eyes and I love how wide she opens them in this episode. This Alicent is just way more assertive and confident. She'll wield her power and utter savage lines. Before the series aired, I only knew of Olivia and Rhys Ifans. I know Olivia from Ready Player One. Not from Bates Motel that she's more known for. I'm watching a scene from Ready Player One as we speak and I still can't believe that's the same actress portraying Alicent! She plays an American so well like she's from here and not from the UK. It's weird because the more we are supposed to hate Alicent, the more I like her. My fav moment from Olivia was when Alicent yelled at Aegon and said, "YOU ARE THE CHALLENGE! YOU ARE THE CHALLENGE, AEGON! SIMPLY BY LIVING AND BREATHING!” I believe Olivia is reaching the levels of Lena's Cersei. It's why Lena got paid so high compared to her co-stars. I wasn't a fan on what Olivia said about how Alicent would be a woman for Trump. Seriously, Libs? You want to go there? But I loved her performance as "Alic-nt/Alicersei" and that's all that matters. Olivia is crushing her role and the only other actor in this series who can control a room like that is Matt Smith's Daemon. By portraying Alicent so well, this also reaffirms my allegiance with Team Black. I already know how it ends but this cements that I'm Team Black all the way until the bitter end. Yeah, we'll always have contrarians. The Kyrie Irvings of the world. They'll root Team Green because Team Black is more popular or they hate Daemon, Rhaenyra, or whoever. But I'm firmly on Team Black thanks to Olivia portraying Alicent like she should be. There's this one line in Ep 6 that people need to rewatch. It was the scene when breast milk started to come out of Rhaenyra. She tells Alicent, "Long before that, we were friends." Alicent kinda rolls her eyes. But you can see Rhaenyra's eyes that she did have feelings for Alicent in the six seconds pause looking at her. It's just unfortunate they're put in these circumstances that they could no longer love each other like they did as teens. Rhaenyra should've lived her dream with Alicent. Travel on dragonback and eat cake together. Their endings would've been far happier.

The older actors were actually cast first but they decided to cast younger people for the earlier episodes. It wouldn't make sense to stick with the same actors as it would look out of place. The people who haven't changed aren't changed because they were not cast as children so there is no need for a different actor.

Hrm. Nobody on this new show has come anywhere near my top fave GoT characters ... yet. Obviously, with this being the first season, there's still a while to go. However, from this point of the new show, I feel the most interesting characters are: #1. Larys Strong #2. Daemon Targaryan #3. Otto Hightower #4. Viserys Hightower ... The rest still have room to grow imo. Obviously, the main characters seem to be centred around Rhaenera and Alicent. Both of which, I'm undecided upon. I'll have to wait and see what the new 'adult' actor versions of these become, since I've so far been unimpressed by the previous portrayals by the younger actor versions in this show so far. Hopefully, the adult actors deliver better performances and these will grow on me as the show progresses.

They really could not have aged them up. If you had read the story you would know why it wouldn't work. The age differences are just too great, even with makeup or CGI. They also cast the older actors far earlier than they cast the young actors.

In the books, Leana gives a birth to a deformed baby, is dead and she was most certainly going to die by blood lose but she wanted to ride vaghar a last time and she was walking towards her, but died while walking down the steps, and deamon carried her to her bed which is quite different here, but i would like to think when the maestor said, the child will not come which i mean he's saying that the infant is dead, and deamon didn't chose to cut her like her brother did and Leana jst took on her hands to die like that. (I'm no expert, but if the scene was like the child was born dead, leana is devastated and she knows that she's gonna die aswell and same scene as she tells vaghar to kill her or die while riding her would have been better ig) cause most viewers get thrown when she just wanted to die with her unborn baby which is not quite clearly says it's dead. That's all, great reaction as always.

I will miss the younger actors/actresses as they laid a fantastic foundation for the story thus far. I was surprised too, that they didn't have another actor play Sir Criston?!?! I really liked lyonal, he was a honest and loyal hand and friend to viserys, I really liked Harwin aswell and never realised he was the gold cloak rheneayra bumped into with Daemon. Kristen went from one of my favourite characters to one of my least. After 10 years he’s still being pissy about rhenearya not abandoning her family meanwhile taking it out on her kids which is just cruel and I always hated Layres but just a lot more now.

A good episode the whole like daemon targaryen wife asking her dragon to kill her was slightly different from the book which I have mixed feelings about it like would it be cooler if she got on her dragon to fly upwards then let go at point but that just me and I feel like we didn't get know her and daemon relationship felt a bit rushed.

Maybe my suggestion would have worked despite being a bit expensive to do that scene. I didn't like they deleted a scene of daemon confronting her daughters after her death should have kept the scene in.

It also changes her death from natural causes to suicide, and means she is responsible for the death of her unborn child. In the book the baby dies after it is born, followed by the mother shortly afterwards. I am not a fan of new writers changing the original authors intent.

Is it only Targaryans who can't be burned by fire then? Is that how the Dragon's fire could burn her? (Damon's wife) They show seemed to make a point in this episode to demonstrate how Damon was fireproof, when he flew through his wife's dragon's flames. Although, perhaps that was foreshadowing for the other deaths of the Strong family from arson at the end of the episode?

I'm team Alicent. Rhaenyra is spoiled brat that won't take responsibility for the repercussion of her fleeting whims. Alicent is a victim of circumstance. It's unfortunate she was put in that position because of her father but she is just out to protect herself and her sons. Rhaenyra having her sons killed is a very real threat considering what she's capable of so I understand Alicent's actions. She used her dead mother's name to swear an oath she never kept in the start and Alicent discovered it. This is justification that she will do anything for her own interest including the possible murder of Alicent's sons to keep her throne. If you ask me, Alicent is being Sansa smart. you can't afford to be naive in their world. It kind of parallels the Jon Snow Dany relationship. Sansa did warn Jon that Dany could betray him simply for living because he had the better claim and I believe she would have had him executed at some point considering how crazy she actually was. I rewatched GoT and the warning signs were always there. We all just refused to see it when it comes to Dany because we had rose colored glasses when it came to her, I had it as well.

Alicent, was doomed to be born to the Westerosi/Essos/Sothoryos/Ulthos world of the less than 1%, a demographic the majority of the known world, men/women, young/old, would trade places with in a heart beat, the FOOLS. She "bitter"ly cries herself to sleep in silken comforters and feathery pillows at night after an arduous day of sitting on that fine, thoroughbred of a High(tower) Horse🐎. The nightmare only continues for her when she wakes up to realize it's all real, as her handmaidens serve her the finest produce in the kingdom. I imagine a younger version of myself in her shoes, begrudgingly forcing down mom's latest take on meatloaf🤢. Alicent putting on a brave face, forcing herself to chew the fare painstakingly crafted by cooks sailed in from Essos, Braavosi culinary masters. When no one is looking, she quickly guzzles down fine Arbor wine to more quickly clear her of this plate of torture. To top it all off, she has to deal with a TYRANT King for a husband and his EVIL daughter who is constantly being the bigger person and apologizing and trying to mend their former bestie status, UGH!
