True story Inna. While filming the scene up on the battlement when Westley, Inigo, and Fezzik are discussing how to storm the castle, Andre The Giant let out a 16 second fart that brought filming to a halt and left the actors and crew in stunned silence. Everyone was afraid to say anything until Rob Reiner, the director asked "Are you okay, Andre?" He replied "I am now boss." Carey Elwes has shared the experience in multiple interviews through near tears of laughter. You've got to love Andre. What a kind soul and absolute legend! Also, actor Mandy Patinkin, who played Inigo Montoya, had recently lost his father to cancer when he was 18, only a few years prior to filming The Princess Bride. When Mandy kills Count Rugen near the end of the film, you can hear him briefly lose his accent as he delivers the line "I want my father back, you son of a bitch." In an interview, he has stated that he was speaking directly to the cancer that took his father when he said that line. It definitely adds another layer to the scene.

My generation grew up watching this movie, but I was the only kid rooting for Vizzini because he was a fellow Sicilian. When Westley raised his hand to her he was still in character as the Dread Pirate Roberts and trying to bring that into the conversation.
@ronfehr7899Күн бұрын
Andre the Giant, who played Fezzik, was a professional wrestler, and he actually was as strong as portrayed in the movie. However, at this time in his life, back problems limited some of his abilities. He actually wore a back bracelet underneath his outfit. The cliff-climbing scene, for example, really was Andre carrying three people, although they were all harnessed for safety reasons.

Andre was the most kind-hearted person in history. This movie was the only time in his like when he felt truly at home in his own skin, as he was not being judged by everyday standards.

According to the author, he asked his two young daughters hat type of story they would like for him to write. One said a princess the other wanted a bride story so the story was the princess bride. This was a favorite of my kids. It doesn't try to take itself seriously. It's just for fun. I think you like it too.

During Covid, a bunch of Hollywood actors created a video that can be found on KZbin called Princess Bride Home Movie Full. They re-enacted the scenes from the movie in their own homes and backyards with makeshift costumes and props. One actor would be doing one part, and another would be doing the other and neither of them would be acting to each other, just in their own respective homes. It was utterly hilarious and a must watch.

"The Princess Bride" is a great twist on traditional fairy tales. You can feel a Monty Python-esque presence, as most of the comedy is in the dialogue and the unexpected twists. One of the smartest comedies ever made. 👍👍

35:20 At the beginning of shooting this scene, Rob Reiner (Director) told Billy Crystal to forget the script and just make it up as he wished. The magic resulted in three days to shoot the single scene and Reiner, Cary Elwes, and half the film crew had to be banished from the set because they couldn't stop laughing. Much of the shots of Elwes is the dummie made to look like him for the shots he's carried around. Poor Mandy Patinkin, and André Roussimoff had to suffer through without laughing.

The shortest kidnapper, Vizzini, who you thought looked familiar is played by Wallace Shawn. This is probably his best known roll, but I also know him from playing the Ferangi leader, Grand Nagus Zek in Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Wikipedia also lists him having notable rolls in Clueless and Young Sheldon and voicing Rex in the Toy Story franchise.

You asked what Grandpa was looking for at 46:59. But you already knew the actor was Peter Falk who played Colombo. So I am surprised that you did not also recognize Colombo's trademark of absent-mindedly looking for a pen or a notebook. Yes, it was Peter Falk inserting a little nod to his Colombo character.

Great Reaction..... (Standard Comments, so some may have already been mentioned)...... Everyone comments about how "Over the Top" this movie is and how "Useless" Buttercup is.... Reminder, You are watching this from the Imagination of an 8 year old boy who is listening to a story....... The Grandfather is best known for his role "Columbo" a Detective TV movie series in the 1970's... The Grandson was the lead from the TV show "Wonder Years"...... Fesik is played by Professional Wrestler Andre the Giant, He Past Away to Young at Age 46..... The Cliff-Top Duel was practiced by Wesley & Indigo, through-out the filming and one of the last things filmed..... And is considered one of the best filmed duels in movie history, and all but the gymnastic flips is the actual actors..... When 6-Fingered Man hit Wesley on the Head, it was a real hit and put the actor for Wesley in the hospital.... The Director had to leave the set when Filming the Miracle Max scenes cause the Actor Billy Crystal kept making him laugh.... If you notice, when Indigo delivers the line "I want my Father Back...." the actor drops the spanish accent, one reason is he was channeling how he felt about loosing his Father to Cancer.....

Anyway, I consider this one of the most perfect films ever produced.

@islandseeker126012 сағат бұрын
The most enjoyable part of this reaction is that Inna presumed it would be a serious movie and was so confused, and tried so hard to take it all seriously. Her gagging to the romantic parts was a bit cringe though (to use her words). Now I can't wait to see her reaction to that very serious historically accurate epic "The Holy Grail" by the critically acclaimed troupe of documentary filmmakers, Monty Python.

One of those truly rare movies that's just pure fun and heart. I particularly love that Wesley and Inigo show mutual respect between honourable combatants. They have no personal animosty, they just happen to be on different sides. Edit: Apologies in advance if the below sounds sexist. Not intended. One thing I have seen almost universally in reactions to this movie - men 'get' the parts about honourable and fair combat between people who respect each other, women find it completely incomprehensible. 😂 Very interesting how those divisions still exist, even though actual combat like that doesn't really happen any more.

10:11 Always bugged me. A rapier can “pierce” or “stab” a man through the heart. In order to “slash” a man through the heart, you’d need at least a katana, saber, scimitar, etc. Not trying to fully engage “Sword YT” on the specifics, but there’s something to be said for at least making the monologue work by changing one verb…

Trivia! In the scene where Count Rugen knocks Westley out with the butt of his sword, its real. The poor guy got a concussion out of it. Andre the Giant was an absolute sweetheart. During filming, Robin Wright would often be cold, so he would place his hand on top of her head to keep her warm. Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya) had just lost his father to cancer, so the conviction he fought Count Rugen with was fueled by that.

Maybe that’s the actual truth - he just keeps that secret closely hidden and tells the other story to build the Dread Pirate Roberts reputation. Having built an immunity to the most deadly poison is much more imposing story than simply getting an idiot to inhale a deadly aerosol with no questions.
