"It's a matter of life after death. He died and I got a life." Madeline Kahn steals this movie and every film she's in. That and the "flames on the side of my face" speech are some of my favorite lines from any film. Also, Tim Curry is hilarious running from room to room during his reveals, but he's also being true to the board game. In the game, if you want to make an accusation, you have to be in the room where you are saying that it happened. I love that detail.
@TimGraham2001
@TimGraham2001 2 ай бұрын
Did you know that the entire “flames” speech was completely improvised by Madeline? That’s why all of the other actors are looking at her like she’s nuts, they weren’t expecting it, and it was so great they left it in the movie LOL.

Classy film. Excellent story and acting. Madeline Khan was and remains a comedic legend. The risque and creative film-making that was plethora with good richness throughout the 1980's was a golden era for cinema, much, in the same vein as the 1990's and the early 2000's. Comedy needs a comeback of this kind in the 21st Century that takes risks, makes many laugh and is all-around good fun. Loved watching this video. Good viewing you two!

I remember the newspaper add to this well. It had 3 separate boxes on the ad stating "Ending A playing at", "Ending B playing at " and "Ending C playing at" with the specific cinemas in your area listed in the boxes. My friend and I were hoping to see all 3 but only 2 appeared in our area. We had to drive over an hour (closer to 2 hours) to see Ending A. Ending B was playing at most cinemas nearby. Unfortunately, it was like a 4 hour drive to see Ending C and tickets were always sold out in advance. So as you can guess, we all bought the budget VHS as soon as it was available. It was our first time seeing Ending C and all the endings together.

This was a movie I loved as a kid and still do. I didn’t know this until last year when I saw it at my local Alamo Drafthouse, Miss Scarlet in the film Lesley Anne Warren was found, cast and signed in 4 days before filming. The original Scarlet was the greatest of all princesses Carrie Fisher, but right before filming started she checked herself into rehab. When you see Lesley Anne Warren knowing this to me, I can see Carrie Fisher playing the role.

Murder by Death really set the template for Clue in many ways. The downside for audiences now is that many won't get the character references in it, or even recognise most of the actors though it was an A-list cast.

Eileen Brennan (Mrs. Peacock) is also in _Murder by Death_ , and the bit here in _Clue_ , where Wadsworth (Tim Curry) says he'll catch her but she drops through his arms, is a callback to a similar bit in _Murder by Death_ where her character (Tess Skeffington) drops through Sam Diamond's arms (Peter Falk).

When this movie played at the theatres, what theatre you went to determined what ending you saw. On the newest DVD release there are now FIVE ways to watch it: 1. First ending 2. Second Ending. 3. Second ending 4. The one you just finished that showed all three endings. 5. Random ending where your dvd player will pick an ending at random.

This is is the movie with these actors at the height of their powers. Madeline Kahn, Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Kellye Nakahara (you've seen her in MASH for instance). And Lesley Ann Warren as Miss Scarlet, awesome. Madeline Kahn (Mrs White) scene with the "flames.... Flames, out the side if my head...." is a classic still remembered today. I watched this when I was a kid and loved it, so much that I'd watch it over and over again. It's hokey, its funny, its sinister, but never takes it's self as a film too seriously, so it's enjoyable all the way through. And I'm realizing I forgot Marin Mull as Conoel Mustard. Look up the filmography on any of these actors and you'll be go "whoa, thats a lot of talent!".

Hey, Michelle and Natalie! Kudos for reacting to this movie! It's definitely one of my favorites! I saw it in a theater and my multiplex in New York played all three options. You bought an A, B or C ticket which designated the auditorium the specific ending was featured in. I bought the VHS and then the DVD. I must have seen this film over thirty times! It never gets old. Tim Curry gives a tour-de-force performance as Wadsworth. Christopher "Doc Brown" Lloyd from "Back to the Future" played the licentious Prof. Plum! Madeline Kahn was a mainstay of Mel Brooks films. Michael McKean would later be a cast member of "Saturday Night Live". The cast are all comedy greats in perfect sync with each other. It's a wonderful little gem. There's been talk of a remake but this is a lightning-in-a-bottle situation like "Ghostbusters" or "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World!" A different cast would change the dynamic completely. Many reactors try to solve the murders but the crimes are incidental to the comedy! While all three solutions hold up under close scrutiny, you're not expected to identify the right culprit although there's no harm in trying. It's really just meant to be a madcap backstage farce all in good fun! The board game is a perennial staple like Monopoly that's been around since 1949! The movie utilizes all the characters, weapons, rooms and secret passages that are components in the game. Boddy Mansion is the setting of the game and it is Mr. Boddy's murder players attempt to solve. Another good comedic whodunnit is "Murder By Death" which features parody versions of the great cinematic sleuths like Charlie Chan, Nick and Nora Charles, Sam Spade, Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple gathered together by real-life true-crime author Truman Capote. A terrific whodunnit with a psychological twist is "Identity"! Trivia unrelated to the production: Lesley Ann-Warren and Susan Sarandon have been mistaken for each other so often in real life that the actresses agreed to sign autographs using their doppelganger's name if erroneously requested by fans!

I saw it in the theater and got the Mrs. Peacock ending. One of the reasons they went with multiple endings is an homage to how the board game is played. If a player made an incorrect deduction, the game would continue until someone correctly solved the murder. So, there could be multiple deductions in a single game - the last one usually being the correct one.

If you loved this movie as much as I do, I would suggest the movie Murder by Death. It is about a group of famous amateur detectives ( caricatures of famous literary detectives like Poirot and Charlie Chan) invited to a dinner in a dark and creepy mansion. It is also a very confusing and funny movie, with lots of famous (well, in the 70's famous) actors.

Saw the everyone killed someone ending in theaters... there is allegedly two other endings that were scripted, one that was never filmed and one that was despised by test audiences in Hollywood and so never made it to other theaters. The fourth ending equates to Wadsworth blames Prof. Plum & Miss Peacock of working together, until Plum mentions the gun is missing, Wadsworth is revealed to have it, he tells everyone they can't stop him, that the brandy was really poisoned and they only have about an hour to live, but he's locking them in, so it doesn't matter. As he tries to leave the FBI/Evangelist guy wrestles the gun from Wadsworth, the cops then ask who did it, Wadsworth starts the explanation again, but when he gets to the part about letting in Col. Mustard he instead steps outside and locks everyone in, then flees in a car, only to be attacked by a Doberman in the car's back seat, ending fades to black. There are actual pictures from this ending in the Clue Novelization of the film in the 4th ending's chapter. The fifth ending was never allegedly filmed and was just scripted, but since so few know what it is, it is unlikely to ever be revealed. -------------------- Interesting note: The Singing Telegram Girl went on to be Joan of Arc in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Something I like to think about is that this is the perfect way to get away with murder. If the police had shown up, they couldn't have solved who did it. It makes everyone a suspect, but no one except the murderer knows who did it. So the police would question everyone, but ultimately have to let everyone go.

Add “Streets of Fire” 1984. to your list of movies to watch. This is an under rated rock & roll type of movie. With performances of hit songs from the 1980's. A mercenary is hired to rescue his ex-girlfriend, a singer who has been kidnapped. Including Rick Moranis, William Dafoe, Bill Paxton, Amy Madigan and others.

Hi Michelle & Natalie, it was great to see you enjoying this comedy as much as I did. As some other commentators have mentioned, there is another similar Murder/Comedy film from 1976 called (Murder By Death). In that one, all the guests are parodies of famous detectives created by famous authors. Michelle, have you ever seen the (Thin Man) series of films from the 30`s/40s starring William Powell & Myrna Loy ?? They are a series of 6 Comedy/Mystery films , I think you would enjoy them, whether you react to them or not. They are also a great way to look at the style of architecture & fashion of those times.

Great reaction ladies, as usual. I haven't watched you guys in a while. I'll throw a couple of movies out there for you to watch it you haven't seen them already. "Almost Famous" and "Miracle" are two of the best films around. You guys would really enjoy both of them. Guaranteed.

This movie was silly but fun to watch. When I first saw it I, admittedly, got confused at the end. But then I had to laugh when I realized I was watching the different scenarios playing out. I'm used to just have one definite ending not multiple endings lol. I'm surprised they haven't remade this movie to death yet

Years ago, my local Community Little Theater did this play. At the Intermission, the audience was asked to vote on which ending to use. Even the cast didn't know, from one show to another, which ending they'd be doing.

I like this movie so much and thought the lines were so quotable, when I did a reaction, review, I pretty much just made a nearly scene by scene recreation of the film, and I added a few twists, like Plum, is actually Doc Brown from "Back to the Future". One hour and 32 minutes of me mostly dressed as the characters, with me describing things which I couldn't film myself. I called it. "Clue: The Movie, Review, Reactions & Recreations". I also hint that Mrs. Peacock had a famous archeologist friend, that she was with in India where she first ate monkey's brains. Can you guess the movie I reference? I also do a few musical cues of a certain Tim Curry movie that seemed to fit this story... But no spoilers.. ;)

Another great comedy y'all should check out in a similar vein is Noises Off from 1992. Amazing ensemble cast. Lots of great timing and transitions like in this movie. Not a murder mystery but the same feel as Clue.

Clue is one of the best films of the 80’s with Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mull, Colleen Camp, and Michael McKean who make this movie as funny as it is genuinely entertaining throughout its runtime.
