It's great that you got this is a comedy. I've been fed up watching reactions to this film where the reactor spends all their time trying to work out who did it, like it's a serious murder mystery, and generally miss all the jokes. I thought you two would get it.
@Zombie_Trooper6 сағат бұрын
This! Soooo many miss that the mystery is irrelevant, it's the epitome of the journey is more important than the destination.
@ronfehr78994 сағат бұрын
It's based on the board game, so it shouldn't be a surprise nobody can solve the murder mysteries. Because nobody is meant to.

I'm so excited you guys picked this movie. I have absolutely loved it ever since I was a teenager. There was talk recently of it being remade and I was devastated. This is perfection the way it is, no one should ever touch it.

You passed the clue test. I can usually tell who will actually pay attention to the movie by whether or not they catch the dog poop gag. For so many, if it is not spoken, it is not funny.

"It's a matter of life after death. He died and I got a life." Madeline Kahn steals this movie and every film she's in. That and the "flames on the side of my face" speech are some of my favorite lines from any film. Also, Tim Curry is hilarious running from room to room during his reveals, but he's also being true to the board game. In the game, if you want to make an accusation, you have to be in the room where you are saying that it happened. I love that detail.
@TimGraham20019 сағат бұрын
Did you know that the entire “flames” speech was completely improvised by Madeline? That’s why all of the other actors are looking at her like she’s nuts, they weren’t expecting it, and it was so great they left it in the movie LOL.

I love this movie, great cast, with some good writing. It was really creative how they came up with the story based on the board game. 😂 I didn't see it in theaters, but they would play this on TV all the time when I was a kid. I believe they put all three endings together when they released it for TV showings and home video. Glad you Lovely Ladies enjoyed it. 👍😎👍

The floorplans for this house matches the Game Board, down to the 2 hidden passages. FOR A DINNER PARTY, If the concept of Clue interests you, but you'd like to be more immersive, You can buy "How to host a Murder"! Each Guest plays a character complete with a background. As your dinner party progresses more clues come available and at the end, each person reveals whom they think committed the murderer. Even the Murderer doesn't know until the very end.

Watched this on HBO when I was a kid. Funny to me how many I people reacting to this movie seem not to catch this on joke. -Prof. Plum: But is the FBI in the habit to cleaning up after multiple murder? -Wadsworth: Yes. Why do you think it's run by man called Hoover? Hoover also being a brand that makes vacuum cleaners.
@TheBriguy339 сағат бұрын
I hadn't seen this movie in years, but used to play the board game quite a bit. Going to have to revisit it again soon. Nice to get a refresher on the character names. I recognized many actors in this besides Lloyd and Curry. Martin Mull who was also in Mr. Mom. Howard Hesseman, the teacher from the tv show Head Of The Class. Knives Out with Daniel Craig is another great murder mystery and I haven't seen the sequel Glass Onion yet. There was a Saved By The Bell episode in the 90s that was inspired by this movie. I didn't know about the multiple endings. I was only 9 when this came out haha. Great review ladies :)

I like this movie so much and thought the lines were so quotable, when I did a reaction, review, I pretty much just made a nearly scene by scene recreation of the film, and I added a few twists, like Plum, is actually Doc Brown from "Back to the Future". One hour and 32 minutes of me mostly dressed as the characters, with me describing things which I couldn't film myself. I called it. "Clue: The Movie, Review, Reactions & Recreations". I also hint that Mrs. Peacock had a famous archeologist friend, that she was with in India where she first ate monkey's brains. Can you guess the movie I reference? I also do a few musical cues of a certain Tim Curry movie that seemed to fit this story... But no spoilers.. ;)

Yeah, you can talk about how funny the jokes were, or how silly it was ... but for me, the real genius of this movie is in the details. Stuff like how they reacted to different things, and all the quick little one liners that are easy to miss.

I DID see it in the theater and I had the "true" ending (everyone), but my friend had the Ms. Scarlet ending which prompted us to go see it again. After the weekend, the theaters would tell you what ending. Some being cryptic (ending A, B, C/1, 2, 3), others gave it away. Within a couple of weeks the controversy of the alternate endings to drive ticket sales saw many of the theaters doing the full movie with all three endings.

Hi Michelle & Natalie, it was great to see you enjoying this comedy as much as I did. As some other commentators have mentioned, there is another similar Murder/Comedy film from 1976 called (Murder By Death). In that one, all the guests are parodies of famous detectives created by famous authors. Michelle, have you ever seen the (Thin Man) series of films from the 30`s/40s starring William Powell & Myrna Loy ?? They are a series of 6 Comedy/Mystery films , I think you would enjoy them, whether you react to them or not. They are also a great way to look at the style of architecture & fashion of those times.
