The Pro Stock Burndown battle of the year

Larry Morgan and Allen Johnson got into one of the longest staging duels in NHRA history. Morgan took the race on a holeshot over three-time defending winner Allen Johnson with a 6.944 at 199.02 at the controls of his FireAde Chevy Camaro at the 2015 NHRA MOPAR Mile-High Nationals in Denver.

Congratulations Larry Morgan. Great job at leaving the line without fail, horsepower held on and you knocked off a tough competitor. It is a real blessing to have a manufacturer that supports drag racing of which allows you to qualify at any given race. I can name a manufacturer that lost it's way in pro stock (that struggled to qualify at any race) a real disappointment to many to say the least. Your perseverance is to be admired for so many loyal years of participation in the sport/class.

Pro stock is dead. They all run the same. There is nothing stock about it. Clutchless trans, bodies that look like a potato. Even the teams are limited on piston weight now. Pro stock died when the cars didn’t look stock anymore.

I miss Gary Gerould. He was a great top-end interviewer. John Kernan and Jamie Howe are also good. Why FOX and NHRA continue to use that Busick lady to do post-race interviews is beyond me.

Buzz135 It’s a “burn down” to throw the other driver out of his comfort zone. And sitting their is cooling the tires and the motor is getting hot, as these motors have to be rebuilt after every run. Essentially your trying to make the other car unprepared

Comments on this video are about how awesome it is and just two guys playing the psychological game of racing but then fast forward and the comments on the burn down between Mason and Bruno from 2021 are all about how these two clowns should just stage their cars and race already, stop playing games you came to race. So NHRA fans want to have their cake and eat it too.
