Sometimes it feels like the rich people who make these movies feel a need to pretend like they're still relatable so they just use stereotypes to make up for their lack of connection to the communities they're represnting.
@KingQwariАй бұрын
Honestly you're right I think they're so disconnected that they just rely on the basic stereotypes that have gone on for centuries.

one thing ive noticed as an outsider looking in is with black media and whats promoted its often harmful stereotypes, like as a latino for me comedies were george lopez show which had some stereotypes but mostly good he was hard working, family man who had a spicy wife who still loved him and they showed that. but with black comedies its so often just the harmful over exaggerated route with everyone so negative, quick to anger, scheming, and other just awful untrue stereotypes. worst part is often time u will see celebrities attached to these profucts promote it as black excellence which it is very much not as it pushed negativity which then instills more ignorance in the minds of nonblack viewers. like ive never seen my dad’s friend lose his cool, or do any of the stereotypes, on the contrary hes a very respectful, hardworking man who i see as a second father and like it pains me that his culture is represented so negatively all the time when ik he gets lumped in with that in the eyes of prejudice and racist individuals. I hope one day there will be a good representation actually pushed by the media
@KingQwariАй бұрын
I agree we have some positive role models but most of them get ruined over time... It's all just too much. But you're right other race media usually showcases more positive attributes of their race it's a shame how we get done

My main thing with brand new characters is that these companies,for the most part, start them off super over powered and important immidiately, or so arrogant that they instantly start flexing on old characters and somehow being correct in their approach. The standard of writers has gone down significantly over the years.
@ashkebora7262Ай бұрын
A lot of it is executives and suit types getting more and more of their hands in productions. Add that on top of the writer strikes, and you quite literally have moron suits writing some parts... Or _effectively_ writing them, greenlighting only a select few things they want.

Yeah you're right corporate America is infecting the creative industry more than ever. And I don't like it when new characters flex on the old ones like just let the new characters live

FR why are so many black super heroes using Electric powers? It's such a weird deliberate choice everyone is making. Do artists prefer the contrast with the skin color?
@KingQwariАй бұрын
It honestly began with black lightning, the creator of that character gets paid every time anyone mentions the character. DC didn't wanna pay him so they then created black Vulcan. Static shock was their own character but DC bought them out. Idk why it like this.

7:04 The reason for so many Black Characters having lightning powers in (at least American) Superhero media is due to copyright believe it or not at the time. There are plenty of Black charcters in fiction that have non-lightning based abilities but they're not mainsteam and you would only know about them if you know where to look. Which is a bit unfortunate to say the least.

honestly we have a lot of different black characters, it's just that the ones that get any sort of gas, and the resources to go on for a long enough to build a following aren't the ones that have the ones that have creativity and passion behind them and what unfortunately ends up happening, is that in order to get the gas and resources to continue long enough to build a following people have to conform and then we get another black character with electricity powers

I love miles down but I can’t ignore the stereotypes of his character yknow? The lighting power and the trope where black people in media when they are apart of a biracial relationship it’s always with a white person as if that’s the only possible biracial relationship for black people as a whole when dating outside of their race. I hate when writers get lazy on actually writing good black characters and plot without having to use stereotypes so they wouldn’t have to write something more unique.
@user-vi4xy1jw7eАй бұрын
"Always with a white person." Literally in the same comic/game/movie, Miles' parents are in a biracial relationship which isn't black and white. Why are you ignoring that? Lol

@@user-vi4xy1jw7e I ignored it because it’s good representation of interracial relationships that isn’t always with someone that isn’t poc. Keep up. The only reason I said “always” is because of how popular black and white interracial relationships are instead of other poc with black people. Don’t twist my words
