The PROBLEM with Classical Music

I'm deep in my Doctoral comprehensive exams so this video is inspired by so many great writers and educators that I've been diving into as I write these papers!
This is a SUPER touchy subject, but I think the only way to continue to evolve and progress the genre of "classical music" is to be more open about the things that are really just holding us back.

Je suis totalement d'accord Emmanuel. Le problème avec la musique dite "classique" c'est qu'elle s'est éloignée des autres genres populaires à cause de sa complexité et son "véhicule commercial"... Il faut se souvenir qu'il y a 100 ans tous les styles de musique était "classique" et on jouait du Beethoven à la radio populaire aux heures de grande écoute!

Two things: 1. you do NOT describe problems with classical music 2. you describe peoples problems in nderstanding, categorizing and classifying it Interesting but not what I expect from the title of the video.

Technically that’s only one thing, but fine: classical music itself cannot have a problem - it’s a subjective art form with a set of modular rules and paradigms that evolve over its lifetime. The problem with classical music is the people who do all the things I’ve stated in the video. If you don’t really agree, well this video isn’t for you.
