Completely agree, competitiveness against others almost never comes from a good place, we create a division between ourselves and others when we do that. It's a terrible quality to have, not sure why people are proud of it. I used to be extremely competitive when I was younger and was hated that in myself. But I think there is value to be found in competing against your own self.

If you are an indian . Without competition nothing is going to work. Here everything is relative. Most of the times we are doing stuff that makes the opportunities for better stuff, but the stuff we most of the time we do is filled with competition and that stuff never in the real sense is related to the stuff we want to do. But we have to do that to do the stuff we actually want to do

Well stated... In a populated country like India... We are trained as children to try to gain a way to get outa the rut... Which comes from a specific age old method of hardwork study and a specific job.. however when you yourself start wanting it for real .. work becomes so interesting but competitive spirit always keeps you at your best

Thats cause the indian knowledge system that india used to thrive upon is lost and instead replaced by a old regime's education poily . Gurukula back in the day focused on knowledge and sharing of knowledge for betterment of oneself . Now Knowledge is treated as a means to get to an end ,that end being "getting a job".

the thing about competitiveness is that its bringing out the intimidating aspect. it should be coming from a place for achievement type, an approach to show being passionate and in a good place type.

Is the point figuring out if it comes from a good place or if it is bad? Isn't it better to focus on accepting it as a reality of human nature and learning to apply it for good? Doesn't competition drive people to extreme performance that they could never achieve without being competitive? How about accepting that fact and using it to solve climate change? How about competing for the highest negative carbon impact?
