People crap on 3D All Stars for being a lazy port of the OG 3D Mario games (and missing Galaxy 2, though I'm not a total fan of that game) but don't act like Nintendo never did this before 2017. Because back in 2010 Nintendo released a port of Super Mario All Stars (SNES) to Wii for Mario 25th anniversary but it was just a rom lazily pasted onto a disc that only takes up 0.3% of the disc's free space. It didn't even have Super Mario World like other versions of All Stars.

Using Twilight Princess HD as an example for what a $40-60 remake might be: * Updated and overhauled graphics that make it feel fresh while also not straying from the original design. * New game mode: Link’s Crossbow Trainin, access in the main menu like how the Zelda DS games did multiplayer mode! I find it funny how Metroid Prime of all games gets the absolute best remaster out of all of Nintendo's top IPs. Truly was the the only one that really makes your jaw drop with how good it looks. I mean, close up on Samus' face in full detail is probably the most detailed/realistic looking face I've seen on any Switch game...hell, any Nintendo game. And yet Metroid is usually stuck on the sidelines while Mario and Zelda get all the pampering.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD deserved better. The original Dark Moon and 3 were both made by Next Level Games and both games look very good in their respective systems. I was so excited for 2 HD when it was announced because I knew Next Level Games would do it justice bringing it on the Switch… Only to realize that they weren’t developing it… Seriously though, why was it developed by Tantalus Media? The same people who made Skyward Sword HD that did mediocre at best… I really want to defend this game because I grew up with it, but even I have to acknowledge how disgraceful this port is. The only thing it has going for it are HD graphics, an improved control scheme, and a fixed frame rate because the original’s was inconsistent.

Here’s the problem with Prices of the remasters. They are actually NOT overpriced. They are exactly at how they are valued. Mario and Zelda are two of the most beloved and well preforming series so the fact people constantly buy the games actually Justifies the Price Tag. Like look at the 3D Allstars, people complained about it yet it still sold over 9 Million units. Same with Skyward Sword HD, still sold over 4 Mill despite the constant complaints up til release. And lets compare that to the two ports you praised. Pikmin 1 and 2 however did NOT sell over 1 million and Prime 4 despite being praised, despite only being 40 bucks only manged to sell around 1.3 Million. In short those remasters aren’t 60 because the Business decided they’re not of enough value to warrent. So if you’re tired 60 dollar ports just simple vote with your waller cause the only the prices will go down is if the vaule of the ips go down

I wish both Luigi’s Mansion 1 and 2 were in one game package and remastered but I’m content with 2 HD. I kinda get that they already remastered the first game, but almost nobody was still using a 3DS. They should’ve given it the treatment of Metroid Prime 1 Remastered, where Luigi’s Mansion 1 would be released and given a visual overhaul before Luigi’s Mansion 3 back in 2018. I’ve already said it before I’ve said it again, we shouldn’t judge the donkey Kong country returns remaster yet. The game was announced in July and it doesn’t come out until January 2025, the developers are probably aware of this and are trying to do the best they can. The fact that people are already making visual comparisons to this game when it’s not even out yet really shows us how impatient this Generation of gamers are. Unless They don’t share any new information on the game yet, none of you have the right to judge this game until it comes out. And before some of you, people in the comments start typing lol or lmao, hear me out. The reason we haven’t gotten a new donkey kong game yet is because retro studios has been working on Metroid Prime 4, meaning they can’t develop a different game while working on a current game. Don’t think Sega is also immune to this as well, Sonic Colors Ultimate is another example of a lazy port if you ask me, same with SpongeBob SquarePants for bikini bottom rehydrated (The only edition that game had was robot Squidward, who was going to be a boss in the original, and they just obligated him as a multiplayer mode), I don’t think sonic X shadow generations is off the hook. When you get it down to sonic X shadow generations is essentially two games in one pack. The vanilla sonic generations only included chao and that’s it. Same gameplay, same bosses, same characters who do nothing except two sonic and two tails, and same crappy story that was written by the two writers I had no knowledge on sonic. Yeah there’s shadow generations, but that feels like an entirely different game altogether. It’s likely going to focus more on shadows past and having him deal with his memories. Bottom line it’s too soon to judge a game when it’s not even out yet. You wanna call skyward sword, HD and the Luigi‘s mansion two HD lazy fine. Until the donkey Kong country HD remastered comes out, it is too soon to judge this game yet.

Sometimes they put a lot of effort into them and make them worthwhile improvements over the original game. Other times, they just chuck the original game through the HD widescreen machine and call it. Selling it for full price.

personally i think luigis mansion 2 was extremely unnecesary,not just because they ignored the first game even when they already did a 3ds remeake but because luigis mansion 3 already exist and man for real the comparison of these 2 games makes luigis mansion 2 look like a waaaaay inferior experience than the other 2 games,like heck even in the LM remeake for 3ds they added coop with googy and in LM2 theres nothing like that for no reason at all,honestly an unnecesary port that literally added nothing at all like NSMBUDX

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD really needed more time in the oven. It doesn’t even look like a remastered game made for the switch. It looks more like a Nintendo game designed for iOS! :/ The fact that they gave Tantalus (the same game studio behind Zelda Twilight Princess HD and Skyward Sword HD) instead of giving it to Grezzo (gamestudio that made OOT3D, SF643D, MM3D, and LM13D) with at least some devs from Next Level Games just makes this the more disappointing. :( There’s some things I like that were changed in LM2HD: Luigi given lip syncing whenever he says lines during cutscenes (tho not all of them were given lip syncing) Toad’s having more face expressions (tho I wish Yellow Toad in Old Clockwork, and the Green Toad in Treacherous Mansion were given rigged facial expressions like normal Toad, Blue Toad, and Purple Toad.) and the worlds graphics models look more detailed than originally, and were well remade (if only the character models were given more love and time to flesh them out visual wise as well as the lighting rendering engine on them). And of course the remastered SFX files (especially retaining Charles Martinet’s Luigi voice clips from Dark Moon) and the same original soundtrack remastered to HD quality. 
 Those are the positives. Now onto the issues. 
 It’s just that LM2HD was revealed a year ago, which would’ve been enough time to at least improve the visuals drastically (mostly for the character models not related to the ghosts except for King Boo and Boos) from the first trailer, but nothing was really refined or look any different from the first reveal. It didn’t necessarily need to be LM3 visual wise to look great, but they didn’t have to fall so hard either to avoid it, which only left so much to be desired, especially how they removed some of the more facial expressions present in the original, making their facials in the remaster very stiff, while also adding new ones (this is giving Conker Live & Reloaded vibes) What makes this even more mind boggling is that during the first encounter with a Gobber in Haunted Towers, in one brief shot, Luigi’s model reverts back to his original 3DS model in such a broken state, and in the famous cutscene where Luigi unlocks the entrance to the Treacherous Mansion, when King Boo appears out of nowhere, King Boo’s model also reverts back to his 3DS model as well. Like how could they miss those!?! 
 And the animations for the most part were changed more often for the worst than for the better, making the game look even more outdated, especially for a Nintendo Switch game. 
 I know I complained saying Luigi’s Mansion 1 (3DS remake) being average for Luigi not being more facial expressive (meanwhile they made all the ghosts, including portrait ghosts more expressive), some of the cutscenes looking rather less intimidating without Luigi looking more frightened, etc. But at least that game has new content, gave us a more difficult Hidden Mansion mode, and it looks visually good for the 3DS! Perhaps I treated LM3DS too harshly… 
 Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD however, just isn’t worth $60 that literally didn’t improve any of the problems that were just padding (even if they never bothered me, but I understand why people have issues with it) doesn’t have new content etc. This remaster was really undercooked.

It’s really funny to me that I became a Sonic fan only last year. And I was a nintendo fan too. As a result I feel like, while SEGA hasn’t been as good as the early 2000’s (Even the early 90’s), but it’s become clear that Nintendo’s marketing team sucks. Nintendo's using remasters as a way to fill out the year, especially when most of their resources are going into their next console. Their basing the prices off of the popularity of the series as well as how much people are willing to pay. So while their not going to sell much, they can easily make 1-3 Million at bare minimum with Brand recognition alone.

Out of all the Nintendo franchises, Mario has been getting the worst treatment as far as remastered or remakes goes so far. Zelda came close though. While there an few stand outs like Mario Kart 8 & Super Mario 3D World, others were not in there favor. NSMBU Deluxe, Super Mario: 3D All Stars, Luigi's Mansion 2 and many others were not at all of what I considered an good remastered or remakes. Outside of few control setup, music selection and resolution, there was nothing they added or change that gives them an definitive experience. The only reason other franchise like Metroid or Kirby gotten better remastered or remakes was because it was developed by other developers that wasn't made by Nintendo and they have the freedom to remastered & remake those games at there will and time. Whereas Mario & Zelda are made by Nintendo and not other developers. And yeah. I know there's Super Mario RPG and The Thousand Year Door remake as well. But those were made by other developers & not Nintendo and they took way much care with them than Nintendo themselves and yeah, those are better than what Nintendo could've done. It's sad seeing Nintendo's biggest franchise didn't get any care they deserved. And what's sad is that they use to give them good treatment with something like Super Mario All-Stars or the Advance series given an better care than what we have today.

Add a drop dash(which I'm ngl... it's a nice addition) 2. Changed the boost button 3. added Chao missions 4. And maybe the 60fps frame rate That's it.. like some really simple stuff...if they just upgraded the visuals then this remaster wouldn't exactly looked lazy.. despite the additions it's added to the game. But I know..most of the focus and budget and effort went into shadow campaign which it's to be expected they want this game to be good as possible.

​@user-vt6dd4kz5t To be fair, the OG version of Generations already gets a massive resolution and framerate buff when you play the game on newer hardware (like getting the Xbox 360 version on a Series X/S). At that point there isn't really much more visual or performance improvements you could make apart from maybe a UI overhaul and new models for the characters. But that might as well just be a remake entirely. Point is, Generations already looks pretty damn fine on modern hardware compared to playing it on the original platforms (aside from PC of course).

3D All Stars is such an odd title. Fundamentally it's not bad, it's three of Mario's 3D titles running in 1080p on a console that has a massive install base. Nothing about the game itself is bad. But you then add the context of: - Few to no actual improvements from the originals - No widescreen for SM64 - Emulators can run these games in higher FPS and widescreen already - No Galaxy 2 - They made it limited release to pressure consumers into buying it before it's gone And in my opinion you have one of the weakest anniversary titles and one of Nintendo's scummiest releases. And in case anyone tries to say "be grateful we got a re-release at all," Kirby, Crash Bandicoot, Mega Man, and even Sonic the Hedgehog have done better than Mario in the past decade. It's baffling how big of a disappointment this release was. Sorry about the essay but I feel strongly about this because they couldve done way better.

I think calling dark moon hd the same as an emulator is pretty disingenuous cause 1, the game barely even works on citra, and 2 when you compare the versions directly, they touched up quite a bit of the models and assets to be higher quality. Is it perfect? No, definitely nowhere near as good looking as 3, and there’s a few bugs here and there, along with animations being a pretty fair downgrade. But it’s definitely not the same as just an emulator. I’ll say it’s weird it’s not 60fps though, especially when the original had an uncapped framerate, which generally held between 22-44 fps, but moreso on the former. Odd when it’s by the same devs as skyward sword hd too, but ig they wanted 1080p with anti aliasing more. I’d say 64 in 3das is worse though because the audio is not only delayed, but also incredibly muffled, which that combined with using the shindou version, genuinely makes me prefer playing it on n64 nso. And the ai upscaled cutscenes in sunshine and galaxy are pretty bad too, when pikmin 2’s look much better.

4:40 Everyone hates this remaster. But, to me, I think it’s the best remaster of all time! Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon was my first Luigi’s Mansion game, & I think it’s the best out of the other 2! And the remaster, I love it! The frame rate doesn’t bother me one bit, ScareScraper is still extremely enjoyable, I love so much of it! My only problem with it is the price & no Co-op. But still, I think it’s the best remaster of all time, in my opinion! 10/10 remaster!

The Skyward Sword HD people made that port, and their cleaning up the resolution job and improving assets is great.
