The reason why the doomslayer stays on the levels for a while is because he wants to build his collection of minifigures by exploring the levels

I’m glad Vega was bad at teleportation Now I can play a peek video game along the way

The problem I had with the portals is that I couldn't tell whether Argent D'Nur was an ancient civilization on Earth or an entirely different planet until I stopped to read about it
@halazars43662 күн бұрын
So I could be wrong but VEGA's locating doesn't need to mean it's the exact cords, it could simply be a general area, for example if it's tracking argent energy it might be most concentrated on the hell priest itself but there are HUNDREDS of demons also filled with argent energy around messing with the signal, the first one had clearly been being tracked for awhile since that was before the game started. I haven't played 2016 much but from what I remember, yea he did stay in hell killing demons till he was captured and sealed away (he was still human at the time and lacked his Praetor armor so he was much weaker) UNTIL HUMANS got him out, sure he's helping them but he doesn't have to care about them because of that and reducing the area demons control on earth puts more back in hell for him to kill. 14:53 they are very CLEARLY standing on teleporters, and the Khan Mayker clearly doesn't expect the Doom Slayer to hunt the other two hell priest because she's A: Overly confident that he won't be able to kill them anyway B: She is overly confident she can beat him herself and C: She only needs one Hell Priest to do it anyway (She also took part in making the slayer as strong as he is so that probably has something to do with the idea that he's still somewhat loyal to him.) lastly she didn't have a reason to hide them since no one was hunting them nor could anyone kill them without their coin things Everything else was a good point but most of this stuff can be explained with they don't know the actual area of something and needs it to be an open place to open the portal. And most of it can be understood with basic critical thinking skills.

why trying to make sense of the story in doom?

Merry Christmas all - Santa brought you a new video! This is probably my favorite video out of this series, so I hope you all enjoy it too!

I am going to watch the whole video, but I read the title, and wanted to say yes the writing is bad, and that the writing is not as important as the game play when it comes to this doom. I remember a when this first came out, a description someone gave to me was it is un-apologetically video game, which made me look forward to it more than anything that year( I forget which year). I think they took there time making the game great, and by that I imply the "game" as "gameplay".

Lightspeed/hyperspace is a way more compelling and conflict creating concept than teleporters, Imagine if there was a level where the demons blokaded the Slayer's ship and you had to fight onboard the demon vessel.

Great disproval that shows Teleportations narrative weight: it’s the inciting event/technology of pivotal importance for Half Life, Half Life 2, and even the story of the unreleased Half Life 2: Episode 3.

doom eternal was my first doom game and i had a blast w it. idk how the previous games played out but I just assumed the portals, cutscenes and story were nice extras. I agree w your stance on portals and writing however I think you could have made this video less negative after the dr strange example and just showing all the extra plot holes in doom eternal. The way this video is put together makes it feel like as a viewer that you hate the game in it's entirety. I don't think that that is completely fair because of what writers accomplished. I know that's an assumption of this video from me but did wanna share. I think right now you are kinda repeating the same points wich is good but they could have been more compact and less whiny. Then again it seems writing is a passion of you so I can't blame you if these things irritate you more then me. great video tho! just my small critiques on it

Gameplay being the most important part of a game doesn't mean story must be neglected and you just explained it with this video perfectly
@Gamed-dd7tjКүн бұрын
honestly for how much you harp on how instant teleportation is cheap and lazy writing for changing levels there sure was a lot of gameplay with the express purpose of level transitions idk something about this video rubs me the wrong way cuz you keep alluding to the writers being crappy for using portals for ease and then complain about the fact that the portals are almost never used

make the portals spheres, not discs, make creating them taxing on the body, or travelling through them not instantaneous, getting a form of jetlag when you get out, but worse. and the actual travel time takes a while, you are in limbo so to speak... or make the portals like in jumper, very fast collapsing open and closing and has some impact on the surroundings, but still taxing on body, requiring training and no ' on a whim' generation.... etc etc, as you mentioned, you need rules for every non existing plot thing, but it also has to make sense in the world you are in

I wanted to say Doom Eternal had a really fun gameplay loop when I first originally played it back in 2020. I will say though I had a incredibly hard time knowing where I was constantly since we were in a new location almost every level. Compared to Doom 2016 the linear nature made it incredibly easy to understand where I was everytime I started a new level and the objective I had to complete in that level. Yes there was cool environments in both games and I love both for what they but Doom 2016 holds up so much better imo now more than ever. ps I lost interest in Doom Eternal after playing Ultrakill a few months later and now its one of my fav boomer shooters.
