I completely agree with this video. Although the energy and vibes of punjabi lyrics and rap cant be compared to any other genre, as time passes by, they all started to promote some bad things. Honey Singh started promoting alcohol and objectification of girls, Sidhu Moosewala started promoting gun culture and since they were the pioneers of the dhh rap scene, so many artists got inspired by them and now think its cool to talk about girls, alcohol, drugs and guns. When people actually call these rappers out for promoting such things and wrongly influencing the youth, their usual answer is "we are expressing what we have seen/heard or been through". Fine, if there was a time you as a rapper was badly influenced, then tell people how bad it is for their health. They legit glorify alcoholism taking pride in how much they can drink, glorify drug use, glorify gun culture thinking its "gangster". I think rap is a way of expression and har tarah ka rap exist karna chahiye. Foreign ke rappers bhi commercial rap karte hain, including Eminem, Snoop Dog, and even Drake for that matter. Commercial rap koi kharab genre nahi hai. And rahi influence hone ki baat toh aise koi influence ho ke galat kaam nahi karta. Haan exceptions are always there. But exceptions can't be the norm. Haan bas ye hai ki commercial rap main bhi kuch meaning hona chahiye. Jaise bahar aur India ke bhi kai rappers hai jo commercial main bhi meaningful rap kar rahe hain, jaise Hanumankind ka Big Dawgs, D'Evil ke songs hain, and many other artists. Ab toh even, Honey Singh, Badshah, and Raftaar bhi meaningful commercial rap bana rahe hain.
