I like the movie for what it was introducing different characters from different Christmas mythology but I agree that not every movie needs to rock

I don’t think it was marketed well. I didn’t even know what it was about. I just watched it because it had Chris Evans in it and it was on Prime.

No, the problem is that this movie was never going to make 500 mil plus at the box office. and with a 250 mil budget {not counting marketing costs btw} that is what it needed to make just to BREAK EVEN!

@@franohmsford7548 seeing as how I did not finance this movie, that isn’t a problem for me. nor is it a problem for anyone who didn’t put money into it. why would I make the studio’s problem my problem? my job is to watch (or not watch) and enjoy (or not enjoy) it. why would the loss/profit matter to me?

Nothing is wrong with movie, it hits its intended audience. My 8yr old has watched at least 10 times since he first saw it on Amazon, and I've had to watch it 3 times. It's a fine young kid/family Christmas movie.

The problem is that the budget went completely out of control as did Dwayne Johnson's ego {btw his salary for this film was 50 mil}. If they'd got it made for 125 mil inclusive of marketing then it would still not be breaking even at the Box Office but the problem is that right now it's 300 mil plus in the hole thanks to needing to make 500 mil just to break even it's budget NOT COUNTING Marketing!

@franohmsford7548 They'll make that back through advertising on Amazon, I have prime but still have to watch commercials. Seeing as this was supposed to be straight to video in 2023, they at least made some money by running it in theaters. My point is still the same though, my boy loves it and so does all of his male friends. This movie will get a lot of views, hell, he's literally watched it twice today and it's only 230 here in AZ. Side note, I'm all for a big company like Amazon losing money any day of the week....

I would have really loved it, but most of the movie was so dark, it looked like a black screen most of the way through. I even adjusted the brightness on my TV, but it didn't help much. I've noticed the same thing with Ungentlmanly Warefare and a couple other newer movie, otherwise, they would have been watchable and really great if it weren't so frustrating to not be able to see what was going on.

The movie was entertaining, and the only one mentioned that is an original property. Sequels and remakes of broadway shows are formulaic in Hollywood at this point. Recently, theaters have been disappointing. A big movie like this will only be on the Dolby or iMax screen for a few days before being bumped, sometimes by ridiculous kids movies. At this point, if we leave behind my comfy couch, surround sound, and 80” 4K setup, it’s going to be for the Dolby screen with reclining seats😂. We’ve missed quite a few movies this year because of that, and will just wait and watch at home.

Box office wasn’t the main target. Amazon paid what production cost plus more. I have an uncle who made the snowmen monsters in it. Odds are it will get a sequel through Amazon again. But that’s if things are down right

Im a 50 year old male, who's tired of the rock. I wasn't expecting much at all. My expectations were correct. Instantly forgettable. No need to watch again. Much prefer Fatman. Again: its me, not them.

Sadly, the film earns its good will in spite of Dwayne Johnson and not because of him. Even the most lighthearted holiday films need actors that can put the "heart" in "heartwarming". It's difficult to connect and emphasize with characters if we aren't moved by their struggles in some way. Not mandatory, but overall it makes for a richer viewing experience.

It’s just too dark and not funny as Christmas family comedy. Just look at it, how does this appeal to kids under 8? Remember it’s a movie about Santa Claus, your audience isn’t the Infinity War audience, it’s kids who still believe in Santa! Think Studios, think!!!

I thought it was fun & a creative twist on all the set in stone traditions. The odd castings worked for me in this age of who identifies as what like a non-fat Santa. Goofy scenes are hints to Christmas magic to me & I really enjoyed the whole movie! Merry Merry
