Very interesting observations about changes in shoes to attract more customers. It's probably always been like that, but we have seen the evolution take place since the introduction of new types of foams and the thicker midsoles. They probably realized that stability was a potential issue. Also your endings! 😂 Reminds me of
@MidLifeRunner5 ай бұрын
That’s a solid observation. They probably had to stabilize all that foam. Solid 👊🏼 🧠

Good luck at The Woodlands Marathon. I will be running The Woodlands Marathon in Prime X Strung OG even though I have some medial rubbing from strung material on my left shoe (taping the area and using thicker socks). The energy return is amazing for me and yes I love the aggressive pop even though it is somewhat unstable. Gives me 10-15s advantage per mile. I have no regrets for paying $220 for my pair (bargain!) I also had bought Adios Pro 2 Tinman edition a few months ago (long after my Adios Pro 3) as a training shoe from Nordstrom Rack. I think the price was about $100-120 range. Oh btw, your discussion reminded me of "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running" book by Haruki Murakami. No specific reason, but at least the way the title is structured.
@MidLifeRunner4 ай бұрын
Solid option! Best of luck to you as well! Love the Prime X! Re: the Muraki book is likely a pull from “what we talk about when we talk about love.” I would also see it in ESPN articles and in media.

Yeah the Adios Pro 2... Just bought it last 2 weeks at USD80. my first super shoe. I'm able to handle some 'unstableness'. But too afraid to keep the original upper Prime X because of it tallness, as I have partial ankle tear that still has some pain after a year. Love the unstable Novablast 1 during my healthy ankle years.

Love the literature/running crossover. Wish we had more of that in this space. The idea of comparing democratization in the arts and in the shoe world is interesting too, although I’d argue in the arts democratization equals dumbing down whereas in athletic products democratization is more linked to accessibility, which I’m for. You’re probably right that at the end of the day it’s about profit more than anything. I hope you find your manic pixie dream girl racing shoe ;).

😂 well put. I agree there’s a difference between the pandering and accessibility. Maybe I’ll mix in some more literature or film infused videos and watch my subscriber base dwindle lol

Great review, I am going to skip the New Balance SC elite V4. I love the V3 being light and slow. Everyone says New Balance SC elite V4 is for the heavier runners.. Stronger etc.. Have 2 pairs of the Endorphin Pro 3 and love them. Will get the Pro 4 when they drop the price. One red light for me is when people say "best xxx brands shoe" means nothing. Maybe all other shoes in that brand are crap so this one is crap+ 🙄
@MidLifeRunner5 ай бұрын
I feel this. Or when a brand historically makes not great shoes like Brooks or ON, when Puma relaunched or when Skechers makes a comes back, they’ll say “this is the best ON shoe yet”- I feel like I’ve heard that for a year straight. But is the shoe any good?

Hows the Prime X Strung vs the OG SC Trainah?
@MidLifeRunner5 ай бұрын
OG sc trainah can go 400 miles , prime x 600 to 800 (we are going to find out ). Prime x has more protection/compression in heel and especially up front compared to SC trainer. There’s more roll through in the prime x strung vs a little more slap from a steep drop in trainer. I prefer the prime x strung - would be a good battle video

Much in the way the big blockbuster movies, superhero movies aren't designed for me, I'm an art house movie guy. None of these shoes are designed for me either, because I have a small foot and I wear kids shoes because that is all that will fit me, and Asics and Nike are just about the only companies that have multiple shoes lines that I can wear.
