I used to have real bad anxiety and pretty low self-esteem/personal value. Now social media just made that even worse, seeing people on social media living what looks like a much better life with lots more friends and money than I have really destroyed me , it made me feel really depressed. However whilst these people were flaunting their wealth it really opened a new sense of competitiveness in me, a sense of "I can be better than these people" really emerged in me and I decided I was going to live my best life and dedicate my life to the effort of bettering myself and pursing happiness. So I decided to keep going to school get a job start exercising and delete all my social media except for KZbin and Reddit. Ever since I did that I've noticed I've been less depressed and overall more happy. So thank you Mr.Reddy for talking about this subject and informing your viewers, I believe this is a honorable effort. Keep up the good content

I'm surprised you are a guy and you feel like this. I feel like it's mostly girls, like myself, who feel bad AF from social media. I notice more and more people are deleting their social media... my boyfriend deleted all his besides reddit and my co-worker aswell no social media, my best friend delete her instagram etc. When I have a very busy life like I work 40h/week + training 6h/week, spending time with friends, boyfriend etc I don't look at social media and I am sooo much more happy, confident, etc. Then comes time when you are less busy and I just obsess with scrolling and looking at Kylie Jenners page 50 times a day just scroll scroll scroll, googling gossip etc etc, being sad because I am not crazy rich, because it's not summer, because I don't look better... etc etc etc I just wanna be on a beach in Mykonos! and I dont wanna delete my insta because I dont wanna miss out on something. I try to put my phone across the apartment to not start scrolling, and it works quite well.. but as soon as I for ex. take a break from studying and open instagram, I am stuck for sometimes 2 hours.... ugh !!!!

You can’t think that everything in a Instagram influencers life is all sunshine and rainbows. I’m sure these guys have their struggles, and they have the fuckups, but because you get caught up with what they are doing and you keep comparing yourself to these people, it causes insecurity, doubt, jealousy and resentment. Note to everyone: nobody’s life is sunshine and rainbows 24/7, idc who you are, so best not to compare yourself, one day it will be your turn and keep working on you.

I think there's also a negative side to always wanting to share positive thoughts. It can make you feel like you always need to feel happy, you almost feel like an alien if you don't feel happy at some points in your life. I think it's cool that social media can be used as an inspiration tool, but I think in that sense it can become unrealistic again. It's nice to feel happy, but it's also okay to feel unhappy. I guess most people when they share something online they do it with the intention of sharing something they like, think is funny or important, but even these things can have a negative influence on some people.

It’s pretty annoying seeing influencers appealing to people’s greed, lust, and materialism. I admit for a moment they had me feeling upset because I don’t have all the perfect home decor. Then I stopped following them and realized I don’t need all that crap to be happy anyway. I think being a good content creator takes a lot of maturity and dedication to not sell out. Truly a rarity and the algorithm doesn’t make it easy!

Hey Nikhil, totally agree with you and glad I found your video. Social Media needs more creators like you. In my opinion it's also up to how we consume content. Does it inspire us, better us, motivate us? If not, we're in full control of 1) thinking critically about this and 2) unfollowing/blocking everything that doesn't help us and make sure our feeds are filled with positivity. Thanks again for sharing and all the best man, greetings from Austria!

A social media platform such as KZbin flooding a young person's suggestions with a single topic such racism, politics or anything else divisive, that leans on one side of a debate, taking in that content for years, is also bound to create many unbalanced over sensitive adult mindsets in the end. The type of people that walk out of university debates
@Apersonthatdoesexist

Something I barely hear anyone talk about is how the platforms push this unhealthy way of consuming media. I like Instagram to see my favourite scientists and photographers and journalists and learn about places far away from where I live. But now Instagram has added buttons linking to a shopping page, and a "discover" page and reels page that are nothing more than meaningless waste of time. What? What is this? I want to believe the responsibility of consuming media mindfully is with the consumer, but I feel like the platforms make it harder every day. They carry responsibility for their algorithms and presentation, but they just use their power to gain profit from how much time we spend on their platform. It's disgusting, and tiring.

As someone who's been using it since the beginning and went through many phases and was every one of "type of instagram users" stereotypes, ive learned many things. instagram is only harmful if you follow the wrong people. i think there are 3 main types of consumers. People who only follow friends, people who mainly follows celebrities and people who mainly follow instagram "influencers" (normal people that are popular cos of their looks/lifestyle). i find that following celebrities is the least harmful of these because no one compares themselves to someone like The Rock or Ariana Grande. More harmful than following just friends (cos friends can also make you feel left out or post unrealistic lifestyles). Now i stick to following close friends, my favourite athletes and meme accounts with a good community). Never been better. Also i dont and never have ever used the explore page, i just never think about it. i find the explore page to be the most harmful (especially for women). unless you mainly follow edgy meme accounts

Thank you for creating this video! I always thought one of the most beautiful influencers even before SM was Princess Diana. She was bombarded by the press and chose to help others and spread awareness in order to help people who are suffering. However it seems like today influencers are just people are making massive amounts of money by making others feel insecure about themselves.

I find it funny how so many KZbinrs are busy telling everyone else how they should live their lives, it’s actually none of you business, and all you are basically doing is telling your subscribes aka. followers to think the same as you do. You have to realize that you have a lot of responsibility when you have a ton of subscribes who listen to what you say, and take it as fact, it’s therefore important that you let the people know that what you think, is your thoughts, and not a rule of how to be in life, each person should think for themselves, and not just follow some random stranger on social media, as if they were some kind of enlightened guru.

People who refer to themselves as "influencers" are, by definition, narcissists. Therefore, while the suggestions in your video are certainly admirable, I doubt that any of these narcissistic influencers would ever take any of those suggestions on board. They would, after all, rather go on camera and brag about their looks, or their wardrobe, or their wealth, or whatever else they like to brag about.

This is facts, most people who are social media influencers are living a lifestyle that is not attainable for everyone. These people aren’t good people and aren’t doing things to help their fans. Once they get money, their ego grows and they lose values that they based their platform on. I’m not saying all influencers are like this but some are. These are some of my thoughts on the topic

Actually what you have said is sort of already happening. These positive influencers are on Twitter, KZbin, and have some channels on messaging apps like Telegram. The bad influencers are on Instagram and Snapchat which are more visual oriented in terms of photos compared to Twitter and messaging apps which are text oriented and KZbin which is more video oriented. On Twitter you see many people like Elon Musk that are actually spreading positivity around. On KZbin you see people like TechLead that are actually trying to spread educational content around. The kind of things I see on KZbin, Twitter, and even Twitch along with other video and text based platforms are far more positive compared to the content I tend to see on visual oriented platforms such as Snapchat and Instagram. So the good influencers that you want are sort of already here but are just not on Instagram and Snapchat.

I literally use two social media platforms. KZbin and WhatsApp. KZbin for basic entertainment and information like tutorials. I use WhatsApp to message my friends and family. I hate Instagram and other social media platforms. Primarily because of the people trying to share a life that isn't true. Tik tok is just a confusing place that I don't understand. I even turn off my notifications for apps that I believe could control me. No app except for whatsapp has notifications on. Because I don't want other apps tell me when to open that app or look at my phone. When I recognize that I am just going on youtube because I am bored and could be doing something much more productive, then I go outside and take a walk, or outside in general.

Philosophically I fully agree with the content of the video, but in practice unfortunately things don't work that way. It is true that today most influencers do not convey a positive message, one that seeks to improve the mental health of those who consume their content. But this happens because making people feel bad and unhappy makes more money than doing the opposite. Most brands have learned to capitalize on the insecurities of their consumers, and the negative message sent by their "messengers" is just a consequence of this. Of course, not all industries operate this way. There are other ways to spark the interest of potential customers, but appealing to bad feelings is often the quickest way to put money in your pocket.

Look, social media is an open space, u can use it to spread positivity, flex about Ur perfect life, show ppl Ur fancy car, so whatever u want to do.. It's Ur right since it's not against that media rules! So u right now blaming influencers are just choosing the easier option, it's easy to blame influencers. But would they have such a power if not followed by a huge amount of ppl? Ppl choosed to follow them cuz they want see what they're posting, whether it's negative or positive.. So once u press that follow button, whatever influence you get, you choosed it! No one forced u to do so. Ppl has to learn what's good for them and what's not. Ppl have got to rethink about the idea of "it's nrml for me to follow this cuz it's a trend, or cuz my friend does, or whatever". Blame the audience! Or wait a second. Blame no one and focus on goddamn life.

I know you should live your dreams but why is it social media though? Why always thriving for validation and looking good on camera? ... One million followers these days is rookie numbers too. Its not special anymore. Ps why does every influencer have to want to sell merch, have ten platforms... Cos they really want to earn money from the internet these days. And it can be a real job, but it's reaching younger kids. Now they're pressured to join and sell merch and post their lives every day and plan whatever it is to satisfy hundreds of random people

If you're having problems and are anxious with your influencers when engaging in influencer marketing you might wanna look up auditing tools such as *influencer auditor* for this

0:17 is obviously Gdansk, Poland. So "Co się dzieje" would be more correct than the Danish "Hvad sker der".

Most disgustin thing is the narcissism! No need to take and share those million "look I'm so beautiful" selfies! Then wasting time by far too long videos to reach the 10min mark on YT. Way too much ads. Begging for like, comment, share, subscribe, bell, ugh! It's a disgusting blatant clone culture!

Some influencers do a bit of sensationalist over do there are a few that I notice when they realize their platform and fans are reducing they creat scenarios to raise there ratings but in you know a fish when you see one different kinds, but one remember the taste. The only thing I can recognize is the flavor. And one say this to themselves ‘I seen this before or here we go again . I like the Undisputed truth she know game and she recognize.

It doesn’t take a genius to know that having a feed of 80+ women all turning themselves into sexual objects for views is more negative that say, having a feed that is nothing but your good friends and reliable scientific and political news sources. Granted those things also have their problems but it’s a start

Obviously you are an avoidant personality, if you really feel like you're being controlled by this person then you really have some mental issues, do you really think that the world is out to get you, loser

It’s not what is posted that is the problem. Choose what you want to see carefully. The right reason is your own.

Oh! Thank God for the bourgeoisie! That’s very true. Though I’d argue that’s more important when it comes to the news since it’s important to be careful on what primary sources or secondary sources you pay attention to. Social media is more of a cultural thing and becuase it’s dominated by the notion of views, those with the most should use that social power wisely. And sadly the people with the most views typically aren’t educational or worth your while, but a lot of social media including KZbin will really only promote the most famous people regardless of the depth of their content. Which makes it harder for people to branch out and explore more nourishing content

Well we wouldn’t have to if people would not post something that we have to see “carefully”.
