While not ideal, you can use any keyboard like this if you install Microsoft PowerToys Personally I set the keys to F13-F24 as they're widely unused and OBS can detect them

If we all collectively complain maybe they will add it to their ultimate software. I got a set of the new super buttons as well as the joystick for the keyboard and it’s pretty fun to use for Mario. Hopefully you try those too.

When using the two together there is no Num Lock key either. I had to map f12 to num lock lol

I experienced the same while wired, but when I switched to 2.4 GHz I got the C key to work as num-lock

It doesn't excuse them not letting you make the Numpad do macros, but lemme just say what I did to get this functionality. I made a autohotkey script, which is very easy to learn to do basic things like remapping keys in. I said in the script to basically take the useless button that opens calculator and make it so whenever I push that and a Numpad button it does something. For the best use with external software, use the f13-24 keys, and the script would litterly just be: "launch_app2 & numpad0::f13" and so on, then in whatever software just bind it to that extra fkey.

Either flash it with QMK and use VIA to customize it, or rebind your OBS keybinds to the corresponding numbpad buttons.

Do note that you can set hotkeys in OBS to your numpad keys and still pretty much get the same effect. Unless the hotkeys only work when the OBS window is in focus or something.

I just got the C64 version in today and it’s amazing. Very tactile and loud (almost too loud lol) and the keycaps are actually concave the same way a real Commodore 64 keyboard is. And it’s very big and sturdy which some people won’t love. I’ll be ordering the num pad next week to match. Maybe they’ll include macro support and most likely there’s secondary software that allows it

I feel like the biggest issue is it seems to just mirror the keyboard 0-9 keys, so alt codes for special symbols and characters won't work. I originally thought that would also mean it wouldn't work with Blender which uses the numpad for navigation but it does seem to work fine that, which makes me wonder if there's something more going on

If I'm not mistaken, using the codes for special characters requires the ALT key to be pressed on the same device to get it to work.

It might not have the capacity to save memory to it. (Macros) You need a hardware chip to store it and they may have used that space for the calculator feature instead.

That was not what i was expecting the issue to be. I was expecting the issue to be that they dont both work through 1 usb dongle. If I wasnt using bluetooth it would be very annoying. Otherwise I love my keyboard and numpad.

First time huh? Guess he never tried the micro. Mine has been the worst thing 8bitdo has ever made. The d-pad it's so bad it often registers multiple directions at once including the opposite direction as the direction I pressed, all of the face buttons have a fairly long travel before the press is registered, and even though it's supposed to work with the ”ultimate software”, yeah, good luck with that. It only worked once and then immediately disconnected again. I even exchanged it twice and the same issues persisted.

Would highly recommend against the standard NES keyboard i love 8bitdos controller but the keyboard is not good at all. It has input delay and is a very loud device.

Well I have a bigger problem with the 8BitDo Keyboard. It would be really fucking nice if the would actually aknowledge that the US arent the only country in the world and people using other layouts would actually buy their product. Every fu..ing 2 person stardup manages to sell their keyboards in all the popular layouts. Yet 8BitDo doesn´t bother to put in any effort, screw the rest of the world, because who the f cares anyways.

As much as I love and use 8bitdo's hardware, there is no way in hell I would ever install their software on my machine, so this isn't a problem for me.

The software doesn't have to run permanently, it saves the commands to the device in a profile. It's also just a standalone executable you don't even have to install for those, only the 8bitdo x Xbox stuff requires the windows store version of the ultimate software, which is greatly annoying
