The Problem with "Trust The Universe"

Have you been told, "Just Trust The Universe" when you were going through a hard time and hated it? I hear you. Trusting the universe is not what it seems and shouldn't be used as a magic pill. Many teachers says if we trust, everything in our life will be fine, but that's actually misguided and dipping into spiritual bypassing. That's why "Trust The Universe" Doesn't Always Work.

Yes! My keywords lately have been “allow” and “flow.” Trust has been too much to ask, but I can allow my life to be what it is and let it flow through me instead of retreating into victim mode. Good lord, yes!!!! I used to trust, be positive, optimistic. The last five or six years have just been progressively awful!!! I hate being pessimistic, downtrodden. It doesn't suit who I am. But I am so tired of the other shoe dropping even before I've recovered from the last kick in the teeth, that I don't even want to get up anymore.

A very good message! I definitely needed to hear it at this precise moment. I was commenting the other day about some spiritual teachers who are not really in touch with the realities of "everyday people". Some have not nor will ever be in situations that so many parents are in today - for instance - struggling to meet their obligations, trying to cover basic necessities. It is very tough out there at the moment. But to these privileged teachers everything is perfect and beautiful. This attitude can in many ways actually discourage people. Thank you for your message.

I have a problem with "it´s meant to be". By whom is it meant when it doesn´t meet my wishes or life conception? What´s up with free will? Trust has to be diserved (trustworthy!), otherwise it´s naivety and leads to deception. Indeed a splendid mess! :D Thank you, dear!

I wonder if it's a matter of belief. I think the universe or "God" is neutral. If not, there would be no free will. Belief is the instruction we give to the universe. If we believe we can trust, the universe responds accordingly.

Belief certainly has a lot to do with it, for sure. We do get more of what we expect. I think one of the challenges when we feel beat-up by life is to get to a point where our beliefs and expectations change.

Oh yes, New age, is like Christian Fundamalism without the Jesus part. Ha ha. My take. I live in Hawaii, New age drove me nuts. I'm a bit more pragmatic. My favorite memory we played music at the beach. A young man from Ohio said he came here because the planets were aligning. My crazy husband replied you mean the planets don't alein in Ohio. Still makes me laugh.❤😂

Well, it's a generalization, of course. I'm talking about when the general feeling of our life is one of overhwelm, or fear, or despair, or loneliness, disease... and having a hard time finding the good -- not that there isn't any. Even in hard times, I find beauty and pockets of joy, but it's not always enough. (Did I understand what you were saying?)
