First off, what an awesome way and technique of coloring the veg tan! The way the color ended up was something I would like to try. The blue turned out breathtaking! The technique this young lady uses with the double sided tape, that's cool. I'm giving that a try for sure. Very nice video, and to the leather company, thank you for this video. Thank you for your hospitality. Beautifully done!

Stunningly well made. Who is the target market for these? Do Japanese men carry versions of these in their briefcases? Otherwise, they look like what we would call a clutch purse in the US. How much are these wallets retail? My off the cuff guess is just south of 38,000 yen.

Nice work, but I would be a bit worried about the use of two-sided tape to hold all the folded edges in the card slots. I think they could open up in time.

I'm a silk artist that paints on silk with dyes. Using dyes as paint is different than using pigments or other paints like watercolor, oils, even acrylics. It's a different process and, at times more difficult. To be good at your work and create a high-quality product you must know your materials very well. I believe this young lady who we followed throughout the process definitely knows her materials well! She did a fine job! I would have made one(1) change to the wallet and added a little sparkle. The change I'd have made is to the makers mark 'Leather Studio Third'. I would have used either a dark indigo color or a metallic color, in this case I'd choose silver, to fill the makers mark on the leather. The little sparkle is something that's subjective and would add a bit more finery to an already high-quality piece. Using handmade glass beads and handmade silk tassels or cords on the zipperpull gives each item (wallet, bag, purse, etc) a personality all its own! Great job Leather Studio Third!

That's not really the Japanese minimalist aesthetic that's happening here. I was personally relieved they let the shibori leather speak and didn't add any tacky bling, that shit is exhausting.
@denisestover2416 Жыл бұрын
@@complimentary_voucher Good point. I see what you're saying. I did not take into account the Japanese minimalist aesthetic. Just as all art definitely subjective 🙂

Did the Japanese yen tank or something? That handmade long wallet is only $250 currently, that’s if they ship internationally but either way unless they can make that thing in under 2hrs of straight labor time. That’s incredible value for such a well made leather good that will last a lifetime.

Fascinating workmanship. I was wondering how she was going to fit all that leather into a wallet -- of course it's not a wallet, it's a *purse*. You couldn't fit that in a suit pocket, or trouser pocket, you would have to carry it in a bag.
@LIL-MAN_theOG11 ай бұрын
its not a purse, its a salaryman's wallet that fits into a suit jacket. I used to see men carry these back in the day in their coats or suitjackets. A women's version of this has clasps at the top or a envelope-style fold down and are structured more like a slender purse WITHOUT ZIPPERS which is called a clutch.

I know that they wear black clothes as company uniform, and the clothes also made it easy when handling dyes, due to it not becoming stained, but it's excrutiatingly hot outside where they dye the leather; so, they should wear white so they don't get a heatstroke!
