I think this really highlights a) how much labor goes into making an instrument and b) how industrial robots don't eliminate jobs, they make jobs that are less back breaking. Really incredible journey!

Thank you for this wonderful video. I loved watching the intricate machinery at work, and the whole experience was immeasurably enhanced by hearing the process too. Ordinarily, discordant melodion or organ sounds appear in movies to invoke fear in the viewer, but not here - and I found that departure from the filmic norm to be both charming and amusing.🙏🏻🎉

I think it is cool that they include an extension hose mouthpiece, so you can put the melodion on a surface and have a proper two handed jam, while blowing at a comfortable distance.
@mumiemonstret
@mumiemonstret 6 күн бұрын
You can, but it's not really a polyphonic instrument (hence, "melodica" as opposed to "harmonica"). You have to blow real hard, and have very little control over dynamics...

@@mumiemonstret Well, there's a boundary to push then... Get 3 of them, tuned to different keys, connect them to an air supply, with a foot-pedal set up to bleed air, and play them like a multi-bank organ keyboard. I'm sure some KZbin nutter will have done something similar.

The young lady at the end of the video playing the traditional Japanese folk song was a good demonstration of a fine Japanese instrument, I think. 🤔 🤭

Wow! And I always thought that "Londonderry Air" (also the tune for "Danny Boy") was Irish! :-)

Me: Hey, I just bought this great motorcycle from you folks. Now I’m thinking of getting into some music. Know any good places to get an instrument? Suzuki: You wouldn’t believe it but I do. 😂

You can look into Yamaha too, they have some great instruments… I don't know what is the link between making motorcycles and music though…

@@Schnittertm1 I looked a bit into it : for Yamaha, they started by making music instruments in the 19th century. During WW2, their facilities were used to help the war effort. After the was, they converted the military facilities to produce motorcycles.

It's so interesting to see the process of making a Melodian, the sounds of the factory are a big part of the interest for me, especially because the Melodian tuning gets tested. It was such a pity that the makers of this video chose to add the endlessly repeating cutesy music - just not neccesary.
@paulosborne6517
@paulosborne6517 7 күн бұрын
If you've ever lived in Japan, you'll know that cutesy piano music is everywhere in 'how it's made' type craft / industry TV programmes. I much prefer it to the totally inappropriate free-usage BPM dance music that a lot of YT channels dub over process footage. At least easy piano music is true to the style of Japanese media.
