I have such a long standing love-hate relationship with natural rubber bands. They're so useful, but it's always a crap-shoot how long they'll last and when they'll either revert to goo or turn to rock.

Nice footage but I very much wanted to see the actual part of the mechanism where the tube was sliced into bands. And perhaps it should be explained that heating the raw rubber after adding sulfur and extruding it in a tube shape is when the raw rubber is turned into vulcanized rubber. You can't make elastic bands or much of anything useful from raw rubber.

Interesting and complex manufacture of an underestimated product. In order to be able to use rubber bands (and all things with natural rubber content) for a long time, you should note: Natural rubber is quickly attacked by ozone in the air, causing it to lose its elasticity and strength. There is always some ozone (O³) in the air, more in summer and when the sun is shining and outside, less in cloudy weather, in winter and indoors. To protect them from any ozone, rubber bands should always be stored in sealed containers. Because ozone quickly decomposes (breaks down into oxygen O²), containers such as paper bags, plastic bags or cardboard boxes are ozone-free.
Thank you for your service if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be able to put rubber bands on my stacks of money

While common, these kinds of mills should be equipped with body bars that are part of the mill drive safety circuit. Two roll mills like this are one of the most common machines that injure and kill people all over the world and it could be avoided in almost every case with a relatively low cost body bar addition.
