After 100 years of the Armenian genocide not receiving its rightful place in education, politics, Hollywood, etc- the veil is lifting. The first ever feature film has been made against tremendous pressures. It is from the director of Hotel Rwanda, with A-list actors, and its proceeds go to Armenian charities. This deserves international success. For 100 years, Armenians themselves have had to raise awareness about 1 of the major genocides of the 20th century. 1.5 million Armenians were killed by the conquest, diaspora and genocide committed by Ottoman Turks/the Ottoman Empire during and after WW1. Whereas the Nuremberg trials after WW2 fully condemned the Holocaust and held Nazi criminals to account (including 12 death sentences), the government of Turkey has denied this genocide (and others) for 100 years- and they have made it illegal to say otherwise. Unlike Holocaust deniers, who are rightly obscure, Turkey has faced no consequences for their genocide denial. Instead, we have allowed them to benefit from committing the first modern genocide (creating an incentive for genocides that followed). Turkey is very powerful in the world, while some have never heard of Armenia. Turkey’s self-serving lie is pitted against Armenia’s painful truth. This has been a heavy burden that Armenians have carried alone. I have met these kind, strong people on a medical mission and have visited the Armenian Genocide Museum. They are not presenting a one-sided story or asking for special treatment. They simply want world governments to recognize genocide as genocide. Although a consensus of academic institutions and historians recognize the Armenian Genocide as a genocide, Turkey continues to pour salt into the wound, because only 28 governments (Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Russia, etc) will defy Turkey and acknowledge this as genocide. America has offered support but will not publicly recognize this as genocide, for fear of alienating relations with Turkey. This weakness empowered the Turkish ambassador to shut down MGM's Armenian Genocide film attempt in the 1970's. We have been making a calculation, when a calculator is not needed. Genocide and genocide denial are not half measures to be appeased, capitulated or bowed down to. If Hitler had promised us the internet and space travel, we would have kept our June 6th appointment. If a nation of Holocaust deniers forms tomorrow, we would not do business with them. As leaders, America will make Turkey afraid of alienating the world, until they record what they did wrong and why they are sorry. Germany has recognized the Armenian genocide and convinced us that they will "never again" commit genocide. Let Turkey do the same. Make a timeline for them, since they have shown zero remorse in 100 years for modernizing the concept of genocide. We can afford the risk of alienating Turkey, because the world will follow us. "The truth has a certain ring to it”. If we decide to lead, the European Union would side with us and once again suspend Turkey's application. Throw the calculators away for all I care. Armenians should not carry this burden alone and this film is a good start. -Friend of Armenia

I keep recommending this to people! I am not Armenian, but I am appalled by the atrocities of this historical event and even more appalled by the mass conspiracy by Turkey to cover it up. I took my mother (who knew absolutely nothing about it) to see the film and she broke down and cried and one point, as did I. I'm really glad that someone had the courage to make this film.

The Turks killed loads of Armenians, and the Armenians killed loads of Turks, both sides killed thousands of innocent men women and children, hope you and your mom will weep for the other side too

Why would we weep for a falling Empire? The massacres did not start in 1915, there was massacres of Armenians since the 1880's. Cut this bullshit about both sides having causalities, and trying to deny the actions of the Ottoman state as Genocide. What reason would Armenians have to kill innocent Turks, other than revenge? How about you use your brain for a change.

erhan akilli What about the false documents delivered by your hero Andonian? Why the need to deliver fake evidence? What about the Malta Tribunals?

No. Stop. The Armenian genocide was a concentrated effort to mass murder every man, woman, and child of Armenian descent. War is one thing, genocide is another. I am not a gullible moron that you can coerce into believing your conspiracy theory. I've done loads of research on this. Go find some other moron to manipulate.

is someone trying to change your mind? it is a very simple question. Why fabricating fake evidence if you have a lot of evidence to prove a state-organized genocide. The question is very simple. That you are the 'victim' does not mean that people cannot have their doubts. Who was Andonian and why did he lie

its because this movie was entirely funded by an armanian. Turkey and Turkish allies never talk about the genocide as turkey has demanded them to not talk about it or publish about it. If hollywood and film companies funded this and advertised it, they would get alot of problems from turkish government

Why does the world only talk about two massacres and no other - the massacre of the Turks against the Armenians - and the massacre of the Germans against the Jews ??? What about the massacres of the spanish against the American Indians in Mexico? And the massacres of France against the Algerians? And the massacres of Israel against the Palestinians? And the massacres of Serbs against Bosnian Muslims? And the massacres of Buddhists in Burma against the Muslim Rohingya people? And ... and .... aren't these human beings too?
