Note: This part is usually called a "driveshaft" or "cardan shaft" in English. We call the joint in the driveshaft a "U-joint", which means "Universal Joint". (It has other names, like "Universal Coupling", "Cardan Joint" and "Spicer Joint". U-joint is the most common.) It must have been quite noisy before it failed! Wow! A lot of force is required to tear out the metal.
