The PROPER way to dry your wetsuit

Have you tried any of these methods?
I don't think throwing your wetsuit in the oven will get you the right results.
I pit AI GPT against actual surfers responses and am blown away how accurate it was.

Try putting your wetsuit in the oven for about 20 minutes. But first, marinate in a mixture of soy sauce, sugar and grated ginger lol

You have to have at least 3 wetsuits to always have a dry one. I like to soak mine after I surf so they get really wet. I dry them on a drying rack and place under the heater vent. I’ll turn it and usually will be dry within 12/24 hours

You can simply dry it with a hair dryer set on cold air (If you got one that does such) or maybe with a air pressure pistol from a distance

If you have a wife you can force her to wear it until it's dry..... 😄 Blackmail her if necessary... find leverage... Seriously, i am a beginner and kinda screwed up drying it in the sun and it tightened the sleeve ends and the leg ends.. But i found that it dries pretty easily in general but by turning it inside out and vice verse every hour or so... it helps A LOT, and preferably in a warm room, with a bucket underneath.. to catch the leakage. Love your videos. Always entertaining, informative... and i am getting an idea of different aspects of surfing like culture, unwritten codes and so on. I like your passion; Thanks for that !

I hang mine inside out at the waist over the shower glass wall for 1 day, then turn it back the right way and hang it at the waist on a hanger and put a fan in front of it.

I use the DryGuy Simple Dry Boot and Glove Dryer for my booties. It's passive (no fan) and low heat (~110F I believe) and dries out the boots in 6-8 hours. For my wetsuit I use the Underwater Kinetics Hangair. Basically a hanger with a built in 120mm fan. The whole suit dries overnight but the inside will be dry within 5-6 hours or so. About monthly I soak it in GEAR AID Wetsuit Shampoo for about 15 minutes then rinse it out and dry. Haven't had a stinky suit with this combo.

A very good topic and discussion! I simply rinse right after the session with 2 gallons of water and change in a Rubbermaid bin to prevent absrasions from asphalt, pebbles, concrete, mud, sand, etc. Hanging it with the base layer outside after surfing with two hangers at the armpit and knee spots until its dry, depending on the makers. I reverse it for the top layer to dry a bit out before I reverse it again so i keep it nice and flexible, not too dry before i suit it up afer flipping it once again. Taking care of wetsuit is like taking caring of babies. Having 2 to 3 wetsuits to rotate is the way to go!

Run a coasteering company… dunk inside out, drape in rain or shine, once dry, flip. We dry hundreds of suits every year. Would love to know what people do for gloves. It’s a pain flipping them inside out and back again.

Easiest, most efficient, most sensible way, and best for your suit(s), is to have at least two, if not more. I always have a dry suit to put on, while one of the others, dries without being baked in oven, on campfire, or in sun. Who doesn’t want more wetsuits? I rotate turning them inside/right side out multiple times, till I’m sure they’re good. Wash/rinse with good conditioner, hang AT WAIST on good thick hangar. They drip dry in shade outside, then come inside, and finish drying in shower stall (with homemade 1” pvc wetsuit hanging contraption😄💪🤙). All my suits smell new.....for waaay longer than they you’d expect.

First rinse it with water and soft shampoo, for drying here in South America with high humidity we use machines to take ohe humidity from the room so I hang mi wetsuit in the bathroom and sim 6 hours all humidity is gone, no heat exchange just take humidity away ! Mine is whirlpool

Walk to surf and back, take the suit off under the shower. It is already rinced and inside out. Keep the hanger in the shower, hang suit from the showerhead. Besides drying, wash in washing machine, suit inside out, twice a season, settings to Cold and Delicate, with just a drop of detergent, to remove the stink.

my way: Wash your wetsuit with water and a special wetsuit cleaner (if necessary) and then hang it in a room with a dehumidifier. The dehumidifier removes the moisture from the air and the air is then better able to remove the water from your wetsuit.

Here in South Australian countryside near the sea, we have a huge mostly open sided shed which has a 6” white poly pipe running from the cottage gutter to the 3,000 litre water tank, so I hang his wetsuit inside out on the pipe which is about head height, with it folded at the waist over the pipe and I hose the suit down and leave it there. 😊The next day I turn it over and leave it. It’s under cover with tons of fresh air. Turn it when one side is dry, then turn it right side out After this, now that it is autumn and cooler I bring the suit indoors and lay it over a clothes rack.

We need a better mousetrap er wetsuit trap. Picture this: Box frame, 2X4, hinges on one long side about 6' tall and three feet wide Use window screen on each side of the box to press suit in place when closed. Box fan above it blowing down from 3' above it. Flip once to dry other side. Better idea. Offer a drying service in the winter. At the surf shops set up a drying center, like the PVC glover dryers but way more air. Think swiss cheese pipes, huge amounts of air you put in in the suit down the legs arms, body its' ready for the next day or next time you head out. Have a claim ticket, pick up wax, new leash, do any repairs etc., it's warm and ready to roll. Think dry cleaners. Couple dollars fee like price of a star-yucks, build a relationship with the store and surfers, win all the way around.

I used to manage a Ripcurl store in HB; I always told people to hang dry in the shade and fold at the waist as opposed to the shoulders so that they wouldn't blow out the shoulders with the weight of the water. Also, PSA to everyone that may still have the plastic tag attached to the wrist of their suit: you can, and you should definitely remove it after purchasing. It's used as a way for salespeople to quickly identify the size of a suit that is buried next to the other suits on a rack.😂

Squeeze out first and then roll or fold up in a towel and sit on the towel/wet suit on your water proof car seat. Change towels and keep going.

I’ve never had a wet suit get smelly. Not everyone can do this, but I hang on a large hanger, rinse hanging from umbrella in the back yard, right side out, rinsing both inside and out. Then leave to dry under the umbrella out of sun. Reverse later in the day. Move to garage at night. I have an old fan placed under the hanging spot to speed any additional drying needed. My son left his in a pile early on and it got funked. He never did that again.😂

I rinse in a plastic bucket starting with right side out and finishing with inside out. Then I carefully place it in a top loader washing machine and run it on spin cycle only (no added water or agitation) along with booties and any other wet things. This gets a lot of the water out of it & greatly speeds drying. Then I hang it folded in the middle over an "L" shaped hanger in the shade outside. In the winter on shorter colder days, I hang it in the garage and blow air from a high velocity fan on it. Actually, the fan dries it faster than even warm days outside. Once the inside is dry, I turn it right side out to finish. I've never had any damage at all from the spin cycle process nor any sand in my machine. (Being single helps! - LOL) With chest entry suits I have to work at getting all the flaps & corners that stay damp turned out to dry too.

For forty+ years I used the best method ever. Turn your wetsuit inside out, toss it in the trunk or back of the truck (depending on what you own at the time), go to work and then put it on prior to your next session. When that wetsuit got a little iffy I would stop at Surf N' Sea in Ocean Beach, CA and get measured for a new one.

Quick bucket wash with soap, squeeze out water and dry with hairdryer if you want it dry by tomorrow. Hang dry in the shower. I’ve never burned anything with a hairdryer so I’m not sure why that was mentioned in the video lmao just don’t be stupid about it
