@@WindyTherapy theres a couple saying we can use here. i used to tell my students to forget the phrase "practice makes perfect" because actually if u practice something wrong 1000 times u wont get any better... the saying should be "perfect practice makes better" or something like that. also when i was an apprentice my teacher used to tell me when i messed up "nobodys perfect and if u never mess up ur probably never doing anything" because u acctually have to be doing something to mess up... its the people in life that claim they are always right, refuse to learn and never correct their mistakes that u have to worry about.

You're only filling the tank halfway because you have it horizontal. The tank should be vertical straight up and down to get max refill.

That’s why there’s the bleeding valve … when the full it will ooze propane out and you simply need to tight the screw

That's exactly what I was gonna reply. You need to open the valve. Once you see The propane coming out of the valve you're about 80% full. Then close the valve and you're all done. Need to leave room in the tank for expansion.

Thanks Eddy for the video. I just ordered a set of 1 pound bottles and some locking caps. The Amazon link indicates that the kit comes with two bottles. It sure looks faster that the freezing the bottles etc. 👍 It is safer and easier to carry in my Leesure lite trailer . It is also lighter that having a 5 lbs tank .

I also bought the filling adapter so that the bottle is upwards instead of side ways . It was 30$ and has a quick release valve to shut off the gas. It’s vey similar to the one sold by flame king. 😉

Are you sure filling the tank horizontally is correct? Will it allow a maximum fill in a horizontal orientation?

The 1lb orientation isn’t as critical as the big tank pressure and gravity will push the gas into it. I also haven’t seen an adapter that allows us to fill it vertically

Flameking and others sell an adapter that allows for filling in the vertical position. There is a fill tube installed inside the flameking tank that is supposed to vent liquid propane out the bleeder once you reach 80%, which is the safe fill level, and prevents overfilling. It takes about a minute to do one with their adapter. You would have to contact Flameking for a definite call on the proper fill orientation but my guess is it needs to be in the vertical position. I would be more concerned about overfilling then underfilling but it's a good question. I have the Flameking adapter, which I bought as a kit about 4 years ago for about $40 (it came with 1 tank). I would say it's a little easier to use then the method demonstrated here if you're doing several tanks at once.Flameking has a nice video of the process if you go to their website.I filled a lot of Coleman tanks over the years and the Flamekings are worth it in my view but they were scarce and pricy during the pandemic.

@@WindyTherapy The tank has a large warning sticker that says to only refill in the vertical position. The way you are showing is not the proper or safe way to refill. You need to use the Flame King refill adapter.
