At one point in time Canada was one of the premier countries in the world for MMA. No two better athletes could embody that Canadian superstardom than of course Georges St-Pierre and Rory MacDonald. But Rory never became champion like GSP. What happened to his career and the story of Canadian MMA as a whole.

I can't remember if it was Rory or Robbies wife who said it about their husband, whichever it was I remember reading that she said years later that her husband was just never the same after that fight.
@KingCuba
@KingCuba Ай бұрын
@@benc6252 I didn’t know that, but I’m not surprised. That is truly the cost of etching your name into history. You can hope it doesn’t come to that, but to some, there’s more to it. It defines them, and they would rather die than have that forcefully taken from them. It makes me proud of humanity to see qualities of endurance, strength and the will to fight….but also a bit sad to know the price it costs. Maybe it’s because I train under Spencer Fisher and I see the cost, but I don’t think most people understand what some fighters are willing to trade for glory.

I think the generation right after GSP vacated the title was the best one, in terms of technique, excitement, names... everything. You had Lawler, Rory, Matt Brown, Condit, Hendricks, Woodley, Maia, Ellenberger and wonderboy rising up... such a good pool of fighters.

Last night or the night before UFC put out a compilation of GSPs fights. (Christmas 2024) watching it i realized how much I miss watching GSP fight. The UFC has not been the same for me since he left. As a Canadian I haven't felt that pride since the Habs won the cup in 93. GSP is the ture GOAT. No failed drug tests. No hitting women. No DUIs. Constantly improving his MA skills. Dressed and talked like a gentleman. Never forgot where he came from. God Bless Canada God bless GSP

The effort you guys put in week in week out to make these videos makes you the premier MMA content creators in my eyes. Definitely make more of these documentary style videos highlighting the rise and or fall of people that came close to touching greatness. I would love more insight into how similar individuals shaped the sport we all love e.g Jim Miller, Cub Swanson, Mark Hunt, Roxanne Modafeeri and matchmaker Joe Silva.
