SubhanAllah! As usual, by the end of Shaykh Hamza's words, I am in tears. My walking went by the wayside this summer during the heatwave; this beautiful lecture has renewed my energy and vision for walking, and I cannot wait to set out tomorrow morning. Allah SWT used the devotion, guidance and knowledge of Shaykh Hamza that I have absorbed over many years to help bring me into Islam at the age of 53. I consider him my greatest teacher. May Allah SWT bless and keep him, his dear ones, and everyone at Zaytuna, and grant him the highest level of Jannah.

Masha’Allah I am grateful for this video. I work in mental health service in uk and teach mindfulness to my patient, the model of the mindfulness that is based on Buddhist teaching. I always felt that many mindfulness practices were echoing Islamic teaching and thought of conducting a research on these practices within Islamic perspectives. It is truly inspiring and I hope this work will continue to progress Inshah’Allah! Stay blessed Sir🤲🙏

Loving this talk. I go walking everyday and it puts me into a theta brain wave state. Even though I walk in the inner city with many sirens and people I feel peace and joy with the environment. What a beautifuI presentation. Jazak Allahu khayr. I only recently learned that the GREATEST reward mentioned in the hadith relates to walking to the masjid on Fridays for Jumu'ah. For every step taken, Allah (swt), in His infinite Mercy, rewards the Muslim a year of accepted night time salah and a year of accepted fasting-- for every single step. Allahu Akbar. However, of course, there are conditions which must be met. Start Friday intending to go to Jumu'ah, make ghusl (shortly before starting out), arrive at the masjid before the imam takes the mimbar, sit as close to the imam as possible and listen attentively to the khutbah. I've never felt so happy about not owning a vehicle while living 4 blocks from the Masjid. Allahu Akbar.

Walakum Sallam Wa Rahmatulahi Wa Barakatu, A concept that stayed with me from childhood was, when we walk around the school oval, the same distance it will take to walk around Australia. It was a school activity we did once a year, that amazed me as a child. Now while listening to Shaykh Hamza thinking we are all walking together on this journey, step by step to God. It’s so beautiful, jazak Allah Kheir 💕 When we see beautiful things, Allah come to mind. We can't help but think of Allah while listening to Shaykh Hamza; Thank you.

I used to live in the US and now I live in Germany. Most people do not have cars here and many people don't have elevators in their apartment buildings either, and people are forced to walk more. It's true that obesity and severe mental illness are less common (though there are other factors as well).

Love this man… such a peaceful joy… he is the “sang-e sabor “ Persian term for the patience stone . Would really appreciate it if Sheikh Hamza can publish more discussions on mental health and islam… she’d light on it , educate the community and normalize the aspect of mental health and then provide some guidance on various approaches including seeking therapy … not just spiritual therapy through God but also individual or group therapy through people … this is a much needed area that we could use someone like him to shed some light on and normalize it so people who have family members with mental health issues are not sitting in silence or shame due to stigma but seek help earlier in the process .

It's amazing how he combines all of these ideas together so seamlessly. Mashallah. In relation to women's prayer being better in the home, it reminds me of how a man gets more reward for praying at the marketplace (where they presumably work) instead of the house. In connection with the Hadith that the companions came to the prophet (saw) searching for water and left as guides. It reminds me of how there is an extended metaphor in the Quran about water being guidance and being sent from the sky.

As I listened it came to mind that the best way to think of mindfulness is to think of its opposite which is "Heedlessness". Heedlessness is not Naiveness but almost a subconscious temptation not to attend to something that requires Attention. No wonder in the classrooms teachers keep repeating"pay attention"I must admit I never used to know what the teacher meant when they used to keep yelling this admonition.Yallah helps me to be mindful of your Existence and my Dependence on your Existence and your Bounties to your Creatures.Ameen.
