12:45 "the anger that existed... similar..." The anger that existed in the '60s was coupled with confidence in ourselves as agents in our own destiny. Remember that veterans of WW II were everywhere. We had defeated evil in the world and had the undisputed No. 1 economy. Korea, Vietnam, Cold War made this confidence turbulent, but it still existed. Nowadays the resurgence of Fascism in our country is a sign of our loss of confidence and optimism.

If the Russian situation is so bad, how will they be able to rebuild the old Soviet Empire - even if they win in Ukraine? The Russians don't have the manpower and industrial strength to get 10 feet into Poland. They have already proved this. But, the Ukes have already gone through a massive amount of arms from us, most of which have been blown up. Moreover, their manpower problems make those of the Russians look trivial. BTW, Military Keynesianism is not an effective way to create jobs and prosperity. You can't eat ATACMS and tanks are not a very useful form of housing.

One reason why we don’t have the same energetic activism we had in the 60s: no war draft. The “malaise” of voters today is in stark contrast to the determined activism of the 60s because white lids aren’t being shipped off to die in a pointless war in huge numbers. 60s activism kicked into high gear when white boys were at real risk of going to war and dying for imperialist capitalism. When the draft started hitting the white 18-25 year olds en masse- that’s when the demonstrations and real rebellion against the establishment took off. Today’s financial situation is even worse but there is no imminent threat like a Vietnam war looming over the white/middle classes that are suffering. History shows The pain has to be real and suffering must be immense for people to get off their butts and demand change. Apparently we’re not there yet.
