I EDC my black on black Godson. After about a year it has nice wear marks where the black has worn off and the aluminum shows through along the edges. The action is still Day One snappy and it’s held a factory edge, but to be fair all it’s used for is opening mail and Amazon packages. I’m a Lefty so I have to flip the housing to open it since I carry in my left front pocket. I will say that producing and firing an automatic blade in front of someone who didn’t realize you carry or doesn’t know you very well will cause a reaction.

This is the most boring and middle of the road automatic in the world. And I love it for that. It doesn't try to be anything that it isn't. It's just a great tool, and begs to be used.

it's a nickel-boron coating. they call it "battleworn". supposedly has a higher rockwell than the steel. somewhere in 69-70 range. low friction and high wear resistant.

The stonewash on the blade is great. You seem to enjoy it. If you do decide to get something else hope you enjoy that even more. Good review of the knife. Jeff's review posted while I was watching this.

Hey JT, you are right sir I have the TR-3 U.S. Army edition and a Mordax and I love them both I want to pick up the SBR I think it is. So those are good choices, keep up the great content.

I just got a Newport last week and it’s pretty fantastic. Check out the gpknives one with the acid wash, I love it. More gentlemen-ish, but carries very nicely at a bit over 2 ounces plus a deep carry. Like that godson though.

Electroless, NiB is awesome, if that is what is still on those blades. Not only awesome, it's sexy and very useful IMO. You mentioned cracking the tip off, stop putting your tip in places it don't belong. As for Protech, another word equating to awesome. I still like autos, the same as I like assists too. Sometimes I get an itch that's gotta get scratched. I don't mind the less pricey ones either. I tend not even to put the more costly ones in my wish lists. I have been wanting a lever-lock/action auto for over a quarter of a century now (seriously don't know why I don't have one, they aren't even crazy expensive) and a Brend 1 for about two decades +/- but I gave up on the Brend due to cost. Above grail and even holy grail is a Bounty Hunter, nothing more than a pipe dream. I think you should keep it a lil' longer fo-yo-self. Sounds like you like it and well,,, you have it and unless a commodity stick it in your..........collection

I've got a lynch clip for my desert warrior edition green with sand color blade tho I haven't installed it not sure why i haven't carried it more the Godson is a great knife i need to use it or move it along. Thanks for sharing JT

@@JTsKnifeLife Pretty much. Its legal in illinois with a foid card but a felony in the city. I spoke with protech and if you remove the spring it kind of turns into a button lock. They said more of a gravity knife. So i thanked them for their help and expressed how popular non auto are like their malibu as a sort of untapped market. Great company.

Protect is prob the only "auto" company that really catches my eye with a lot of there designs, especially the more jeweled up ones. It's easy to over do that kind of thing and become tacky, but they always keep them very elegant. Unfortunately they are bit of a forbidden fruit for me here in CT. I can have autos here, but I can't carry it. So ultimately why have it, if I won't have it, when i need to have it. Say that ten times fast 😆

Yeah, the rules here are murky so it's pretty much okay to carry them. Otherwise though, you're right, there'd be no point.

Im from germany and every knife tgat you can open with one hand in a fast manner is prohibited from carrying. I still do it. Im not the typa guy that gets into trouble with the police. Anymore i say lol

My take not ever handled that knife but seeing a bunch of reviews. My take I rather spend less on a launch 13 or a launch anything rather than a Godson.

@@JTsKnifeLife No offense meant JT. I just thought it was comparable to the Launch 13. But 13 is the powdered version of the steel, made in the USA and cheaper. Also the 13 has a great snappy action. If I didn’t hold onto the clip it almost launch’s out of my hand when opened. Truthfully it already happened to me twice. 😂 thankfully it didn’t drop far. I’m sure the Godson is a good knife. I’ve been eyeing that black out version.
