I really wanted to play Driveclub with the DLCs. With growing appreciation for it recently, I wanted to give it a try, only to find it's no longer available. I have a PS4 slim, so I just bought the disc, but apparently the DLC was neat too. The VR edition had some exclusive new content, which was later added to the base game as free DLC, but now it's no longer available.

That should be illegal... Gotta admire the determination of the modding scene. In trying very hard to hide the browser (because webkit has more holes in it than cheese), Sony has basically made people find workarounds. All people need is a way to trigger the browser to move forward.

I’m shocked that they haven’t just switched to a Firefox/Gecko engine based browser. The system is just running a custom BSD, so Firefox would be compatible, and it doesn’t have a lot of the security holes other browsers have because they deliberately refused to add some of the features that create a lot of these vulnerabilities.

A step in the right direction, considering the horrible trajectory that the industry as a whole is on right now. Digital only consoles, no ownership for the consumer and a total disregard for game preservation. We need more developments like this. I live in South Africa and may be able to find an older console at retail that is still on this firmware. I will definitely be hunting one down to see if I can run this exploit.

I was so excited when I read the title of this video initially... and don't get me wrong, still very much am. But it's not exactly how the crazy something like the Wii I'd once you jailbreak it... giving you access to pretty much every game. My PS5 has had all the patches applied already, so I am not gonna worry about trying to get mine jailbroken. @@Luhiner Yes I can safely buy physical games knowing that I can access title updates and day one fixes in 20 years time if I wanted. It will take a while but it’s also a matter of time for multiplayer to get added - likely after the publisher already closed the game servers and the game development was completed. Microtransactions become less important once you can mod games, use “trainers” and modify things like rosters in sports games. Jailbreaking is the only way we can protect our purchases in the long run.

Fr, the PS5 modding scene's growing insanely fast and it's just getting started (reminds of the PS3's early days), meanwhile the MIG Switch just opened a huge can of worms. I'm loving every second of these modding scenes tho. The existence of the Mig might delay the Switch 2 altogether (to change the game slot as they'll lose profit from piracy if it's backwards compatible with the Switch 1), and then there's Nintendo potentially banning those playing w these modded carts which might be a fiasco and inadvertently ban both the Mig user & an innocent user since the Mig backs up game carts which have unique game IDs, and there's be no telling if a used cart you bought for much cheaper has been backed up.

if you are not too lazy - can find low fw literally in a single day(5 mins if you ritchie ritch and dont mind overpaying for guaranteed low fw), now if you also want to save money - might take a few days(mostly because of stupid PM limitations on ebay - "you have send too many messages bla bla" error). Went through this process 2se already, once for myself about 2 months ago(or whenever this full JB was achieved) and then just last week for a (super lazy) friend. Did both times on ebay and both times payed less than msrp for a brand new low fw ps5 SNIB. If you really are patient - you can even pay under $200 for a used ps5 with low fw - took another friend of mine about a week to find one, he said he must have send close to 100 PMs(again because of ebay new PM limit - have to wait 10-20 hours to continue PMs - limit doesnt apply to allready ongoing cconversation). Since it looks like i might be searching again quite soon for another lazy friend(now everyone that hears about it - is trying to get me to help them) i will not be opening biggest secrets that make searching for low fw PS5 a lot easier, but if you have common sence and explore-read - can figure them out for yourself quite easily. After that its a lot easier unless there is a competition(hense not disclosing the tactics quite yet). That latest PS5 has joined my family of JBed and heavily modified playstations with now 5 members (PS4 Pro to original PS1)

A game company needs to make a console like the PS2 but with modern graphics. Every game is physical, no DLC, no microtransactions, no updates, no downloading games, no patches/bug fixes. Whatever you get on the disk that is it. Make proper games again, games for gamers. Not games that are trying to extract as much money out of you as possible. Even if it had no multiplayer and was single player online, it would be an incredible console that you actually OWN and could play anytime from now until the day you die.

The thing I hate about modern console hacking scene is the fact that those cat and mouse games with devs and hackers are gone This is how things are going now: scene hacks a new firmware -> sends their exploits to devs so they get money -> devs patch it -> ~2 versions of newer firmware gets released with exploits patched -> scene releases an exploit for outdated firmware -> ~1% of owners can use the jailbreak because they never updated

7:00 Just a word of warning. Know that when you change your DNS you will effectively be redirecting every URL-resolving attempt to that server (which is maintained by someone). Obviously whenever he gets an attempt to resolve the url for one of the system updates it is returning not found or returning a special IP which then the console contacts and gets a message that there are no system updates available, which is what we know it is doing. But you can't be sure he's not logging or redirecting attempts to log in to other pages or API services.

For a good number of people it takes only one password to leak to compromise their online presence since it's the only one they use to log everywhere.

First off for anyone not familiar with how DNS (Domain Name Service) works it's kind of like a phone book (remember those things). When you navigate to a website your computer (PS5 in this case) calls up your DNS server and ask what the IP (Internet Protocol, usually version 4) address is, the DNS server then responds with an IP address and your computer connects to that IP address trusting that it's correct. The URL that appears in the address bar will just be the URL for the real site. ​@@JBBost I'm not 100% sure how a modified DNS would compromise certificates but I presume it would be possible to redirect certificate calls to a fake server (I think that's how some jailbreaks actually work, using a fake certificate to fool a system into downloading custom firmware instead of a legit update). The more likely thing for a compromised DNS server to do would be to redirect you to phishing (pronounced fishing) pages. Of course the URL that appears in the address bar would appear to be legit as well (at least the base URL*) since the computer has no way of knowing that it's phone book (DNS server) gave it bad information. Once they've managed to phish your information they could use your DNS records to find other sites you've visited and if you use the same password everywhere that would give them easy access to a lot of your accounts. *Sometimes hackers get lazy or make mistakes leaving things in other parts of the URL like spelling mistakes or other obvious (to those who know what to look for) signs that something is amiss. Even if someone uses a password manager if they tried to log in online and that page ended up being a phishing site they'd end up giving the keys of the kingdom to some hackers (obviously you should only log into a password manager with a trusted connection which includes a trusted** DNS or if you're super paranoid you could use an offline password manager though there's some obvious challenges with that). ** Pretty much all DNS services are going to collect some information about your browsing habits (there may be some that don't but I don't know of any off hand and I'd still be cautious of anyone promising such a service). Googles DNS is pretty popular, obviously they're going to be collecting some information from you but they wouldn't risk redirecting you to a phishing page.

Playing Mass Effect 1,2 and 3 at 4k/60fps makes it feel like a new AAA release on Ps5 . 155 ps4 games have the FREE 4k/60fps patch so far for Ps5. Even without a ps5 patch the Ps5 plays all 3,454 Ps4 disc games with a faster ssd loading time and never drops below 30fps once during game play . Many many ps4 games caused the Ps4 console to drop below 30 fps during game play . I call my Ps5 my *Ps4 Ultra Super Pro Ti*

Many courts around the world have already thrown the EULA argument out the window since users have no real choice in the matter. This is especially true for software that users are forced to use for business purposes (effective monopolies) but also for movies and games which we pay for with the expectation that we'll have a lifetime license with no unreasonable stipulations. No-one thinks they should be able to steal IP because they bought a movie or game but being able to make backup copies (not selling them) and being able to use a product well after it's producer has stopped supporting it are reasonable expectations. Just because the industries want to force us to keep buying new stuff and not be able to use old stuff doesn't mean they can (legally, constitutionally (or equivalent), or morally).

I was just looking into this the past week as I dusted off my 9.00 PS4 Pro + PSVR and re-set it up with an SSD and external drive. The PS5 scene is really exciting right now, but I'm not going to upgrade for a while. Eventually my Pro will be obsolete, but the PS4's jailbreak/homebrew is so much more mature right now.

PS4 jailbreaking scene has surprised me. Mostly because up until last year, games were still releasing on it with a few exceptions. There are thousands of games since the PS4 was the most supported system last generation, including rare Japanese games. Honestly, the PS4 is only lacking a good snowboarding game like SSX otherwise it's actually perfect, I'm really happy with my PS4 Pro and I don't think it will be outdated anytime soon unless you always want the latest games. There's also an increasing compatibility with PS2 games, so many are playable now like the GTA Stories games or Haunting Ground/Silent Hill. PS1 compatibility is more mediocre sadly but maybe it will be better in the future.

You're right. The PS4 Pro with an SSD is the perfect console right now. I can watch 3D Blu-Rays, play 3D games, play 4K games, install FPKG games with cheats, use PSVR, make my own PS2 conversions, ect. No other console can do this.@@Manic_Panic

It's pretty cool. Personally I have a standing rule not to modify consoles while they are still "Current Gen". The moment the PS6 comes out though I'll be seeing what I can do to this thing. Then again I still never wrapped my head around PS3/X360 softmods, and I sold my PS4/X1 to get the PS5/X|S Everything prior to that though? Modded.

We live in a weird time when we'll need to jailbreak our consoles just to regain access to games we bought when perpetual online connections find their way into single player games more often. I'm hoping something legislative happens where it makes the matter clearly defined so that I'll know going forward that ownership will be going the way of the Dodo or not which may get me to finally chip away at my backlog that I know I'll be keeping

The first incompatible firmware with this hack was released May 1st 2021. So you need to not have used your PS5 online for more than 3 years if you want to jailbreak it.

I'm gonna keep an eye on things because while I'm generally cautious about hacking my consoles and tend to wait until I've got the next gen console before hacking the previous gen I am interested in seeing if anyone on the modding scene can find a way to get the PS5 to play 3D Blu-Rays in stereoscopic 3D through the VR2. Sony are being a little vague about whether or not they intend to add the functionality and I'm a little annoyed that they haven't kept it as standard; yes, I know 3D films and hardware have significantly lost their popularity but it's a feature I wish I hadn't sold away with my PS4 and its VR1 headset. I also know there's a few people out there in a similar boat to me. Just in case that all sounds a bit whiney and entitled; it's not the end of the world if I never see such functionality make it to the PS5, it's just something I would like to see make a return, especially since the alternative involves using up additional plug sockets on my extension lead vs a single plug socket for the PS5 and VR2.

It's not entitled: you bought a computer (PS5), a VR headset (PSVR2), and you can't do something as simple as watch a video in 3d. It's ridiculous and why I sold my PSVR2 and got a Quest 3.

I also still watch 3D movies and just saw Aquaman 2 in 3D in a 4DX theatre/theater (moving chairs, water, air, smell etc) and it is still a great experience. I hate how Xbox Series X can't play 3D movies whereas a sales point of Xbox One was that is was the One Console you need to play everything.

That's a good question because I thought the consoles this gen would be digital only but they were not. Then I thought about it and found it odd that Sony is one of the inventors of Blu-Ray so why would they want their own media format to go obsolete? Nintendo has too large of a retail presence outside of video games to leave physical media so I doubt they'll go digital only.

Ngl that is the most overly complicated way to get on the web browser on ps5. All you have to do is have another psn account send you a psn message of any website. Hell you could you could even send the message with a website link to another psn user and click on the link you sent.
