I like the point about being patient while waiting. SInce we can't do anything anyway, let's take time to relax! Also like: "Patience is the ability to give things the time they need to become good"

I've always been pretty chill but I've learned to embrace patience more in the last year. Certainly it's made me even more relaxed, happier and less stressed overall. It's also interesting looking at other people rushing around like I used to do all the time like they desperately need to be somewhere, when in most cases they don't.

@DrMaikaSteinborn4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay! I'm glad you like the background 🙂 - being nature is one of my greatest energy sources 🌻🌿🌳 Concerning your question: yes, that's possible. Correlations look at large-scale tendencies in groups of people, there's almost always some people in the group for whom the general trend may not apply. It could also mean that you have a great capacity for empathy and forgiveness (and that's why it's not that affected by impatience) and that it would increase even more by practicing patience. ✨

Hi Juli! Could you please explain a bit more, I'm not sure I completely understand your question...
@johnrainsman66502 жыл бұрын
Tell me this guys...have you ever dealt with someone who was impatient with you because of a misunderstanding from your perspective? As in, something that was so simple to them wasn't very simple to you, so it kind of annoyed them. You can't impatiently question a dyslexic for struggling to read simple words; again, simple to you, but not to them. People can be so intolerant towards others and the way their brains works.
@DrMaikaSteinborn2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing this. I also sometimes observe this - in others and myself. It's good to remind oneself that other people's brains work differently and what looks like "failing" to someone, can be "trying hard" for the next person.
@johnrainsman66502 жыл бұрын
@@DrMaikaSteinborn I agree. See, my supervisor was unpleasantly surprised that I was moving chafing dishes into one room for a group's breakfast, when it was supposed to be in another room. The first room was, from my experience, where it had been recently, so I naturally assumed they'd go there. My memory is vague, but I think a coworker said we would move everything from that room to another for breakfast, but I don't think he said it _that_ simply; I think the way he worded it misled me? Maybe I just forgot? It's complicated. That's what I mean by "something so simple to them wasn't very simple to you." But like I said, this room was where the meals had been, so I automatically figured that for breakfast. My supervisor said she didn't know how I could misunderstand it, and I said it would take so long to explain, and even added, "You know me," vaguely to hint, "You know how I'm a slow learner who misunderstands a lot." And it's true: I do have limited comprehension. I sadly have a learning disability. Unfortunately, society deems "I don't get it" to stupidity. Apparently I'm a real-world version of Homer Simpson and Patrick Star. It gets worse: I started high school at age 16 and graduated at 20. How "wrong" is it to start and end high school at those later ages? My coworker automatically assumed I was 14 as a Freshman; I didn't correct her, out of respect for my dignity. Not that I think I have much. And it'll decrease if people find out about my ages in high school grades.
@DrMaikaSteinborn2 жыл бұрын
@John Rainsman, thank you for sharing this - I'm sorry to hear you have to go through those challenges of being misunderstood. Societal norms and expectations can be harsh and unhelpful. What I'm also hearing - and I'm really happy to - is that you're aware of it when it's happening and not buying into it. That sounds like a really strength-maintaining and -building way to cope. The only way false judgements can stand in our way is, if we take them on as truth and start living according to them. But you're not doing that, you're making up your own mind based on your own experience and knowledge, and you know how hard you've worked more than any else and it sounds like you won't let anyone take that from you. 🌷
@johnrainsman66502 жыл бұрын
Thanks, but the truth is i DO let norms and society influence my pride. Your last reply was actually quite incorrect. I’m ashamed I graduated at 20; it sounds like a sign of weakness, especially intellectually. Youre “supposed” to graduate at 18; 20 depends on context and an explanation to make it sound normal, because without it, it’s absolutely something to notice and question. I had a speech delay in preschool and made the mistake of being homeschooled years later, thus bringing me down two grades. That’s the contradiction in itself: while I know the _actual_ (and realistic) explanation, somehow, it’s just easier to think, “no, you’re just stupid: you have slow understanding and were two grades below to graduate. It’s self explanatory. Quit the excuses.”
