I never knew much about Greek History but because of my fascination of the Fate Franchise I learned so much. Like, Hercules is the descendant of the hero Perseus and the Spartans are descendant of Hercules or how the fall of Troy from the Trojan War resulted to the birth of the Roman Empire because of Aeneas, the cousin of Hector, is the ancestor of Romulus and Remus who founded Rome.

@@wyvrusgriffion3948 What you have to remember is that "Legitimacy" was hard to come by back in the day. So somehow tying you're family to divinity was an easy fast track around that problem. Since civilizations tended to build off one another, it was only natural for them to have a sense of progression. Thats why Greek Gods turned into animals for a time to live in Egypt, effectively making the Greek Gods the Egyptian Gods too. For all intensive purposes that was like the 1st recorded "Retcon" in history.

The irony that Zeus had issues with someone hitting on his wife and then got what dude thought was his wife, pregnant. Even funnier that Hera not only had a problem with it, but didn't even bother to come to the man's defense. But, hey, there are a lot of marriages that are like that. The one person can cheat all the time, but don't let there be revenge cheating. Then that other person, male or female, is now considered a ho.

@MadHatter Zombie Edition it makes more sense to come after her title,after all,gods personalities come after their elements,it was built upon what they are the deity of.
@junichiroyamashita
@junichiroyamashita 3 жыл бұрын
@MadHatter Zombie Edition from an antropological point of view,the natural concepts comes before the antropomorphisation of a deity. In the greek world this was also obtained with the Titanomachia,with the new gods taking the place of the old ones. The titans represented the first deities,taking the form of natural elements such as the sky ,the ocean and the earth. The later gods were represented as human and more complex to represent the new conception of religion,where gods were fickle and prone to vice, and became gods of more specific and predominantly human concepts,such as marriage,wine,madness, arts ,beauty. That is the reason we have Nereus,titan of the sea,and Poseidon,god of the sea,earthquakes and horses,or Aphrodites,goddes of love and beauty,and Eros,primordial titan of Love/sexuality. The human shaped gods bring a human element ,but their are created starting from their elemental concept. The fact that mythology say they become gods of a certain things,is purely a narrative insertion or explanation, because the worship was created first and the myth behind it later. For example,Poseidon was worshipped as god of horses long before becoming god of the seas,even though the myth says that he immediatly became the ruler of the seas after defeating Chronos. That is because the mythology and character were created after the worship was already extablished.

If I was infatuated with any of the deities.... I would have a hard time to choose whom is safe to sleep with as I'm pretty sure 99.9% it never goes well for mortals especially I wouldn't choose Hera, Artemis or Athens they are so off limits. Aphrodite still I wouldn't cuz her boyfriend is Ares and her husband is Hephaestus. Hestia is the innocent one and still no just cuz she's like the protected youngest sibling of the others and Demeter is high maintenance, she treated her daughter like Rapunzel in Tangled, that sort of isolated from all the other gods

Hades would have bound and enforced will of the gods upon him, Tartarus is still tied to the Underworld but the Primordials tend to not get involved which would allow younger and less powerful deities some control over their domain but not a lot. Hades is in this position a lot given that he seems to have the most contact with the Primordials such as Nyx, Thanatos, Erebus, and the army of children that Nyx has that are also considered Primordials.

Something would like to point out is Zeus gave im a pass on wanting Hera and even Sleeping with what he though was Hera, what pushes him over the edge was Ixion claiming to have slept with Hera. Zeus was rather forgiving in this instance.

I therefore conclude that Zeus wasn't the origin of the saying "Do not do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you".

Ixion within that wheel reminds me of Leonardo da Vinci's "Vitruvian Man"-the proportions of a man within a circle.

Thank you, another wonderfully illustrated Greek myth this time foolish King Ixion. A boastful arrogant man who's still spinning in Tartarus suffering unspeakable torments.

Moral of the story is that some people don't change and there's no point in feeling sorry for them. This applies then and now.

1:08 reminds me of the movie 300. Never knew a cloud could get pregnant. Lol! Zeus understood Ixion because he too can't contain his lust towards any attractive living being. 🙄😒😒😒

As a final fantasy 10 fan I really loved hearing the origins that inspired the summon Ixion So the reason reference on used from origin are The thunder element is referring to zeus and his thunder striking him down, The horse form he takes is due to him creating centaurs
