Synopsis: Based on the hit movie franchise, THE PURGE revolves around a 12-hour period when all crime, including murder, is legal. Season 2 explores how a single Purge night affects the lives of four interconnected characters over the course of the ensuing year, all inevitably leading up to the next Purge. From Blumhouse Television and UCP, the second season of the anthology series opens on Purge night but dives deeper than ever before in to what the Purge world looks like the other 364 days of the year.

I like Season 2 alot more than Season 1. The characters alone are just more interesting. I mean honestly, how many people could connect with a swinger couple or a chick brainwashed by a cult? Season 2 is a lot more grounded and relatable.

Hairy Poppins Respectfully, do you understand that the show was attempting to show that The Purge does not end at the final siren? there are consequences and problems that persist after mass murder and crimes. The Purge isn’t just an event, it’s an ideology and way of life. The Purge series was trying to paint a picture of the effects on society that The Purge has. Just because it’s called The Purge doesn’t mean we have to focus solely on the one night. There are very real physical, psychological, personal and societal consequences for what happens on Purge Night. Because even though they say “What Happens on Purge Night stays on Purge Night” that is not true at all. That ultimately was the point of season 2. To show the world created by The Purge... Anyways, it’s just how I interpreted. We don’t have to agree of course 🙏

I enjoyed both seasons but preferred the second season because you get to see the aftermath of the prior Purge and the buildup to the next Purge. It's cool to see what the other 364 days are like. The commercial aspect of it was really interesting too. To see how they try to market and come up with masks to sell. I hope season 3 is similar, in that regard: start with the end of the Purge, show the buildup throughout the year, then end with the Purge.
