The purpose of building this bug

As promised, this is the video that started me to thinking:
• I Bought My First Car ...
First cars are often an interesting story from our lives, and one that I doubt will continue with younger generations. My car was a red bug, like this one on the thumbnail, and I was made to build it. There are reasons, I suspect, that were behind this whole endeavour, but I only made those connections much later after the fact.

My 1st car was a red 1965 VW Bug !!! Got my bug at 19 and THEN I got my license and learned how to drive it. :)

I was lucky and already had learned how to drive manual but I was made extra lucky because a cable clutch is so different than a modern hydraulic assisted clutch, so it’s cool to know both.

@ yes! I’d love to hear that story. I learned to drive a manual transmission in a delivery truck. My dad parked it on a hill and said “when you get it to the top you’ll know how to drive a stick.” 😆

Whoa! Baptism by fire!!! 🤣 starting on a hill is a little more advanced, I’d say. But if you can do that, your dad was right, you can drive anywhere!
