That is Larry Byrom on guitar he was on the live album from 70-71 you can tell from his awesome use of feedback the best of all the Stephen wolf guitarists
@thomasmcgowan5716 Жыл бұрын
Sorry this is probably Kent Henry Larry byrom left the band in early 1971
@tomcabrera8223 Жыл бұрын
I still listen to that 70s live album where Larry and the wolfpack really rocked. This has got to be Kent because he is not letting the guitar talk like Larry could.
@timothybensel7440 Жыл бұрын
Sorry that was Kent Henry. He had just joined the band. I was at this show and I also saw them at the Fillmore East in February. Larry Byron played that show and to this day I clearly remember him kneeling down in front of his amp and getting some unbelievable screaming feedback for a couple of minutes. No offense, but way better than this version. Larry Byron was fantastic the whole show. Extremely professional, great timing, sensational solos .

Nope, that's not Larry B. Liked Kent, but Larry was a far better guitar player in sound, control, and technique.

In era with Kent Henry as guitarist, I had just seen that 'Wolf lineup in Detroit Oct.1970. Quite the show, the opened with 'Sookie...' added 'Screamin Night Hog' to the playlist, a new/surprise song we all enjoyed. What do I really remember from that show all these years later.? JK's stage energy was profound....& felt.! Mr. Henry was amped (on more than his Marshall's), and Goldy played so loud at the end it actually hurt my ears. We were on the 2nd floor of Cobo Arena. Jerry drumming was on point & powerful....what a show it was.!

Meko - If you are still with us🤞, coincidentally, 10 years after your comment (250 thousand views, but only 96 comments), I am here in 2024 enjoying a 10 year old Southampton Brewery "Grand Cru" potent 🤯 750 ml micro-brew that I kept under refrigeration for these past 10 years for a special moment. This special moment is simply me now at 66 years old, and my Yorkie waiting for my wife to come home from a mundane doctor visit *today* , and waiting for a five year uterine cancer removal anniversary Oncologist visit for *tomorrow* . Listening to this "Pusher Man" which is on one of the few of vinyl albums NOT stolen from me, that either an Electrician or Bathroom Tradesman stole more than a dozen albums when my back was turned, from my cherished vinyl and 8 track collection that I started in 1971.😢 I cannot accuse either one of the Tradesmen because I do not know which one of the two took my dozen or more albums and multiple 8 tracks including original vinyl Frampton Comes alive , or Big Bambu, Three Dog Night, Fleetwood mack, Joe Walsh, Chicago, Three Dog Night or Aaron Copeland American in Paris Etc. Plus, my cherished 8 Track Beatles, Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush, Hendrix, Trower, and Arlo Guthrie, a couple of which I gave my father money to buy for me, and I at 13 years old stupidly hassled my father R.I.P. for buying a Hey Jude 8 track (now stolen) circa 1971 rather than some "better" Beatles 8 Tracks, sorry dad in heaven 🤦. Whoever stole my music, you can burn in f*ckng hell when you get there. But I digress. I wonder how many out there know that the writer of "The Pusher Man" played the father in the movie "Gremlins." And this same guy wrote "Joy to the World " made famous by Thee Dog Night. EDIT: I forgot to mention, at least the m'fer didn't steal my Ted Nugent Albums.

So glad you posted this. Was there for this concert 42 years ago at the Manhattan Center on a sweltering August night with no air conditioning in the ballroom and everyone crunched in on the floor. It was my second concert ever so listening to this for the first time since I was there is a real blast and a trip back in time. The first concert by the way was Blood Sweat And Tears at a place called Pirate's World in Dania, Florida. Four dollar tickets in that era.

Great song! When I saw the date of the performance I thought it would be nice to hear just a little more of Kent Henry's guitar. After hearing him play on "For Ladies Only" I thought he had really good tones. Steppenwolf was incredibly lucky to have had a variety of axemen and bass players in a very short period of time.

This version always makes me think of what Joe Cocker did with "A Little Help From Me Friends" at Woodstock. Took a great song, made it his own, made it a classic. Same with Chicago's "I'm A Man", (and just lately for me, Johnny Cash's "Hurt" too, to name 3 more.)
