The Boeing 717 is basically the same aeroplane that in the mid nineteen sixties began life as the Douglas DC9-30 (&10). Then it morphed into the McDonnell Douglas 87 series, before Boeing acquired MDC and then it became the Boeing 717. And, sixty plus years on, it still looks and feels the same as those DC9s I knew

Ahhh that roary engine....reminds me of my Hawaiian B717 journey. It roared so loud back then. MDs and 717s are becoming a bit rare nowadays, don't you think so? So getting the chances of riding such planes would be once or twice in a lifetime nowadays. Nice video as always, Jayden!

Aloha! I was surprised to see B717s in Australia because there are so few any where. Here, Hawaiian Airlines flies all 717s interisland. I've never seen a 717 loo before. Interisland flights are only about 20 - 30 minutes, so no time. I was amazed by your seat. The trays on HAL's 717s are barely wide enough for a small coffee or can of beer.

QANTAS bought several for low volume regional routes. Such as Sydney to Canberra. They even added a small Business class section. They own 2O of the type. They are all named after Australian national parks.

Great video, Jayden! The sound of the engines spooling up is great! However, I remember from flying on the DC-9s here in the US, it got pretty noisy in the back. How was it on your flight? I hope your packing went well and that you are enjoying your time in Singapore. Safe travels!

Thd guy invited me in for an impromptu tour as we hot talking on the ride over and I guess he could see im an av geek.. I didn't take him up on the offer for a tour, to be honest I don't think he was serious.. it was still pretty cool to see it up close tho.

Safe travels to Singapore Jayden. Despite all the additional formalities it must be exciting to be flying internationally again. Will you be spending time in Hong Kong before you next return to Australia?
@simonf89023 жыл бұрын
Remember the 717 is the last in a famous aeroplane family. It’s the final iteration of Douglas DC 9 line. Starting in 1966 the DC 9 was stretched to become the MD 80 in 1977. Finally Boeing bought MacAir and morphed the series into the Boeing 717. It was still using the wings and empennage of the DC 9. The line ceased in 2005. One of the longest lived aircraft designs.
