re: the opening convo, mandatory praise is a legit thing in sports. If you ever watch Basketball, you'll see the players constantly giving each other dumb little high-5s after every free-throw, regardless of how it went, because it was objectively proven that the affirmations, no matter how hollow or undeserved, can significantly improve a team's performance.

But the problem is when it's distracting you from the game and increasing the chance of error. Like DL said, he was actively trading at the time and so to remove focus from the trade and on to the praise would negatively impact DL's performance.

I think it's nice to keep morale up and say things like "nice" or "good job" sometimes when things are really bad it's good to just say "it's ok" too. I think the main thing about it being a bit dumb in league is sometimes you have to really concentrate individually and there isn't much of a break to say it whenever you want. Kind of has to be said at end game or after the whole team is resetting/ dead. Talking about anything that's not information can put some people off when they're in the zone.

Okay, 2:16:30 In a decade of hospo, I've made some pretty weird shit for particular customers. Dominoes, there were people who wanted a pizza with nothing, legit nothing, they walk out smiling with baked dough, multiple times. Bar kitchen, people on the app would choose to remove everything except like pickles and mustard from a burger. I'd even go out and talk to these customers, "Hey there, just got your order in and wanted to check, is this just pickles and mustard on a bun? I'll make it for you, but just... oh that's right? Oh I see, you brought sour candy to put on there yourself, okay."

I think I remember that story with shroud and the csgo flashbang stuff (at around 2:31:00 in the vod). If I'm remembering right, it wasn't that they'd look at the other team's monitors to see if it was lighting up, it was that they were playing in front of a giant screen at live events, so if the spectators happened to be following someone that got hit by the flashbang, the entire room would light up. I remember the story being more about silly things that happened at live events, rather than being about actively trying to cheat.

After the c9 game where lategame 0 kill sylas beats 6 kill akali with only W and Zhonyas, Scout is convinced to buy this dogshit oblivion orb early in the game and stunt his mythic. In this 1v1 it literally gets him 0 value (first W is before the Sylas takes damage, no orb debuff applied, 2nd W is the final hit to kill Akali, who cares how much he heals here, but if we're generous it's 75hp of negated healing (200 + 0.8 * 130AP) * .25 . 🤣 Sylas is supposed to lose this matchup early and then win it later because of how busted W is but Scout manages to lose this early cuz of both the early energy mismanagement/read and then this.

On the topic of the inhib-nexus protection and timer things. Literal timers in the game that aren't the scoreboard timers to track and the game timer in the top right are toxic to the game, there would be too much overlapping of HUD space. Something more akin to the Resolve's tree - Demolish countdown could be used visibly ON the nexus so its easier to see while you're hitting the nexus. Just line up the tickdown relative to the side of the nexus the lanes inhib is on and its a smooth integration of visuals on wasted space. The nexus is just a blank canvas really, small crystal surrounded by open space and then a wall.
