The Quarry is the latest interactive horror adventure from the makers of Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology. This Hallowstream, Andy, Jane and Mike attempt to keep the game's nine teenage camp counsellors alive and intact for as long as humanly possible, unless they are too annoying in which case all bets are off.

With regard to Jane's summer camp question: I went to a scouts/guides summer camp for several years in the late 90s/early 00s as both a camper and a counselor, and it was a lot of rustic with a *little* plastic. On the one hand, our kayaks and plates/utensils were plastic. On the other hand, a lot of stuff was that raw bark-on wood, and I once got stung by multiple rude carpenter bees after leaving my towel on a planter. The only building that had AC was the dining hall...I have no idea how I survived that place.

This stream was great! :D All the talk about trains without roofs at the beginning has me compelled to let y'all know that the original tube compartments for third class had no roofs and often didn't have full siding. No idea how useful this info is, but perhaps a Victorian bee or two got to see what happened if they got yeeted out of a train back then.

My dad ran a charity summer camp back in the late 90s, and it looked a lot like this. There were no cabins though but these open platform roof things? It was Southern California so it was hot. There were no bonfire sex parties with the counselors, probably because of that time a camper was mauled by a bear.

Mike, about 11 minutes in: "I'm already lost in the woods." Having been a little lost in the woods at dusk, that is about how long it takes. This story is nowhere near as dramatic as many people's getting lost stories, but it was an object lesson in just how disorienting a forest at night is. I live in a relatively posh semi-suburb area in a small town in Canada - this means the developers left random bits of forest around because having a few acres of forest here and there looks pretty, and makes for nice places to build paths and trails that are nicer than choking on exhaust on the sidewalk by several orders of magnitude. One of these abutted a small meadow park at the base of the hill I lived on, and had a far gentler slope up that hill than any of the roads. It never had an official path installed, but, being one of several teenagers in the neighbourhood, I was quite happy to take the game trail that a friend of mine showed me. I was out a bit later than intended, walking home at dusk in autumn hoping mom wouldn't be too annoyed about me being a bit late for dinner. The game trail route is only slightly out of the way from using the roads, and it doesn't loop around the way the roads did later, so it's definitely the fastest route home. And it's early dusk, you can still see easily....out on a sidewalk. I was on that game trail for all of a minute before I started tripping over branches I couldn't see that were not on the trail. I knew I'd walked in a straight line because of uphill still being on my right, but I had no idea where the heck that trail was. This was in like....a hectare of forest or two. NOTHING compared to the actual forest, surrounded by houses (aside from the meadow, which was also largely surrounded by houses). I had a few moments of panic while I realized I was rapidly losing what little visibility I had. Then I remembered where I was. Again, a hectare of forest surrounded by houses. Any direction I went, I would wind up at civilization in maybe 5 or 10 minutes of slogging through wilderness. And I figured that if I just walked forward, I would come to the backyards of the road that I was heading toward, just further down the hill. Kept going and eventually found a line of lights from people's houses. Then turned up the hill and kept walking - the trail emerged right at the outlet of a very long driveway or access road (got no idea what's at the end of it), so again, I knew I was heading for a landmark that was so long I couldn't possibly miss it. And I got to the driveway, exactly where the trail gets to it. Somehow I'd found the trail again in the dark and *not noticed I was on familiar ground again.* I have not used that trail since then. Partly because I grew up and learned enough to realize that the reason there's no trail there is because it's probably private property (Canada doesn't have right to roam laws.) But mostly because that experience made me shy away from using it.

Thank you for understanding how America works, as far as travel distance goes lol. I remember when I was younger I looked at a map and realized that you could travel through multiple countries in Europe quicker than it would take me to go visit my Aunt in California from Pennsylvania. Maybe that’s why we have so many states, just to make it feel like we’re actually getting somewhere lol. That’s why people from Texas are Worlds different than people in Maine, that’s further than traveling from London , UK to Athens, Greece.

There’s a specific reason that nobody would ever win that James Randi money. It’s because anything that could be considered SUPERnatural, once discovered, would end up just being regular nature. Supernatural things are only super because they haven’t been properly examined and plotted to a graph yet. Think about planets and the universe as a whole, that would have been a fairy tale a long time ago. Now we know they exist and never think twice about it. It’s the mystery that intrigues.
