They did try. But alot of their legal wives tried and their babies died somehow. Could be they had venereal diseases from their years whoring. But alot of them were loyal to their mistresses. Fathered bastards. But somehow when it came to their actual wives the princesses, their babies died or miscarried. It was probably to do with how young so e of their brides were. Or it's like a Henry VIII thing where they were perfectly fine fathering bastards but the actual wives produced daughters instead of sons due to anxiety or something. Cos after all the heir they were waiting for was Victoria. Perhaps anxiety had something to do with the health of the babies. Or even the sex

Edward is the only one who gives an heir to Queen Charlotte. His daughter, who later became Queen Victoria. In the show, when Queen Charlotte gets the news, she is so excited and goes straight to King George, who is isolated in his chambers because of his mental illness and finds a way to tell him the news in a little moment of lucidity. It's a very sweet scene.

There was no stress until the Princess Charlotte died. I saw somewhere that she almost locked her girls to prevent them from marrying. And the other princes did not even think they have a chance to reach the throne, Princess Charlotte was quite healthy, no one could have foreseen her tragic end. To die as a royal from childbirth in the XIX century when you could have the best doctors from the country is a tragedy, imagine how many women from the commoners were dying
@cheralewhite8253
@cheralewhite8253 Ай бұрын
Well if one thinks about it. With some of these royal families, they were so inbred, that the genes just barely had a chance of surviving past most lineages. So naturally when the princess had bastard kids, they had a better chance of survival, not having to work with 20+ years of genes that amassed all kinds of in the family illnesses, etc.

I’m pretty sure the older you get the less eggs you have left 💀 Though maybe they wouldn’t know that back then?? But seriously, at that point you’ve _gotta_ be forced to pass the majority of expectations along to the younger, more viable candidates or something-especially if all the legitimate babies being born keep dying, adding age into the equation doesn’t do anyone any favors in terms of likelihood of childbearing lmao

Historically it was the fault of the Queen and the King themselves that the princesses didn't produce legitimate heirs. George and Charlotte were overbearing parents towards them and had a hard time letting their daughters live adult lifes, and especially Charlotte kinda wanted to spare them the fate of constantly being pregnant like she was. The daughters who got married did that in their 30s, and the only one who managed to get pregnant delivered a stillborn child. I love just how the children are just so used to it that they just let her talk and make the comments without fear.
