Not quite Tommy Lascelles but pretty devastating all the same. I am very surprised that the producers would ask Alex Jennings to play another role in this series after he made such an indelible impression as the Duke of Windsor. He’s brilliant at both, but it’s certainly jarring for the audience.

Perhaps if anyone in the royal family had EVER raised Andrew to take accountability for ANYTHING in his life (with the possible exception of his military experience when he couldn't always get his way), he wouldn't be where he is now.

At least now Andrew has lost **some** of his reputation and **some** of the truth about his life long behavior has been made public. What I don't understand is why Andrew still gets a pass and Meghan - who has done NOTHING like Andrew's horrendous acts - has been treated worse! As an American, I'm not a fan of ANY "royal" family, but I also had such tremendous respect for Queen Elizabeth - IMHO she set a standard of duty and service that **none** of the current royal family can even begin to meet. With the possible exception of Princess Anne - **she** is a hard worker. I don't see that in any others. You are apparently a British citizen? I am so very curious to hear your opinion, please!!

@@karen-zm6mv The reason that Meghan has been treated in the way she has, is (if you believe what has been said...I have no idea if this is true or not) that she was welcomed in to the family, but was arrogant in the extreme about the manner in which she was to conduct herself with respect to the heirarchy in the RF, the staff, etc. Her self-importance, gained through her being famous and well paid for her role on "Suits", has taken away all humility. that sort of thing may be important in the USA, but here, it is of zero value. In short, she thought she was bigger than the RF and refused to take guidance, when any issue popped up. Her arrogance, is allegedly off the scale. She would have been better marrying Andrew! Andrew still gets a pass because he was Her Late Majesty's favourite. How any parent COULD have a favourite, is beyond me, but there it is. I **try** to be fair in all of the comments I post on KZbin, and as someone who recently retired, I like to think my age has improved my empathy in attempting to see both sides of an issue before expressing my opinion. With that said - with my utmost respect to you - I have a slightly different view of Meghan. I have also seen other opinions that state Meghan is not THAT arrogant. As an actress, you must have a healthy ego to succeed. But I do believe Harry truly loves her, and - again, only my opinion - the "firm" is almost completely unwilling to adapt to anyone who doesn't fit what they expect a royal wife to be. I may be wrong here, but I think the royal family lost an opportunity to adapt, and they lost a couple that would have been a real asset. I also believe Harry was damaged by his mother's death, probably spoiled as one of the sons of a (now) King, and made many mistakes as a young man. (As we all have in our youth.) Additionally, I think he has made a tremendous effort at self examination and self improvement. In the end, I believe they left in large part due to the the horrendous British tabloid media and the restrictions the "firm" imposed on what role they would play in the future. They made the decision that wasn't how they wanted to live their lives, and decided to leave. If this was anyone else NOT in a royal family, it wouldn't be of any consequence. But when you are the first in the long history of British monarchy to do so, you will be villified. Am I not being fair here? Again, thank you for your opinions - and time - to answer my questions!! BTW, my brother served in the American Navy aboard the USS Nimitz. Go Navy!! 👍

I usually comment on Masonic videos (myself being a Freemason) and respond to the comments, thereon. I have never met such a bunch of unhinged, psychotic, ludicrous and generally loopy people as you get on there. but hey, it's life, I suppose. So to enter into a dialogue with you, makes for a refreshing change. Yes, age really does tend to temper one's views and reactions to those of others. Sometimes! I still have a little fire in me that refuses to allow stupid to prevail over sensible. Agreed on the ego/confidence thing on Meghan...but when not in the company of those that move in those circles, the attitude should be toned down as much as possible. I feel she is incapable of doing that. Does Harry love her? Yes, but then, he's never been that bright, tbh. Does she love him? Nope! Now, if Meghan had married into a normal family, yes, I agree she would have probably been treated differently, but this is the ROYAL family and if one wants to be a part of it, one should expect to toe the line in all matters. Probably badly affected... but then Prince William lost his mum too, don't forget and he has dealt with it very well. I had met Harry on a number of occasions and had found him to be a really good young man, that with the right guidance, would be an excellent example to the nation. Once he met her, I knew it would all go "pear-shaped. I knew she'd be another "Fergie". Now, I dislike him intensely. And that book "Spare". Disgraceful to put all that down on paper for the world to see. Not to mention that laughable Oprah Winfrey interview. The man has zero discretion. Don't forget, HE wanted to step down as a working royal... that's fine..but you cannot do that and then continue to trade on the royal name! Having cakes and eating them, seems to be de-riguer for those two. The RF is adapting perfectly well with Prince William as the Heir Apparent and Katherine, his wife. Another great pair (my favourites, actually) are the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. A delighful couple, who are often overlooked as hard-working members of the RF. Agreed on the media, tabloid, broadsheet and broadcast. Absolutely shameful. Scumbags to a man. I would only recommend two news agencies. They are GB News and Sky News Australia. I believe you are trying to be fair, you seem like a nice person..but you have limited actual knowledge of the subject at hand and, with all respect, are simply speculating...just like 99% of people who comment on here 😁 I have been aboard Nimitz several times in my career. Two or three times, as what you would refer to as an "enlisted man" and once after I was commissioned. Got a fabulous welcome on all those occasions. what happened is it was civil case not a criminal case. She was suing him for what he did to her not trying to put him in prison. The Queen just decided to pay her upfront with a large amount to avoid the shame of a public trial. Point being you are allowed to give a offer for civil suits to settle them before the actual court proceedings being.

we it was civil. Just like in the US lower bar for a verdict. The settlement was actual was actual the best thing that could have happened for the girl. She got the amount she ask for (Andrew didn't have that much) from the Queen. They didn't also allow him to defended himself this shows they accepted he was guilty. Not long after he was basically stripped of all his royal duties. The hardest blow which you just saw, he thought Charles was behind it, he was just informed that the Queen was and she was done with him.

The difference here is Charles is not accused of partaking in Savile's crimes as Andrew was with Epstein. Not to mention that Andrew continued to be friends with Epstein after his 2004 plea deal.

Kind of crazy that everyone assumes the worst about him as if it was established fact when all we have so far are accusations from the purported victim and his association with a very shady figure who passed away under mysterious circumstances before the truth could come out. Maybe he is guilty of horrible things, maybe he is guilty of simply being engaged in questionable things, or maybe he is completely innocent. We don't know, but just the bad image and people's desires to believe the worst about some while believing the best about others resulted in him being treated as completely guilty. That interview of his sure didn't help either.

Children have a way of blocking out the things about their parents they don't want to see, so I'm not so sure they knew about him but his mother and ex-wife certainly did. Had his mother stopped coddling him and cleaning up his messes when he was younger he might not have ended up the way he did something by all accounts Charles and her husband kept trying to tell her but she seemed to have a blind spot where Andrew was concerned.

This whole mess-and I could make the same statement on each day of the royal life-is due to the fact, complete FACT, that they are at liberty to do whatever they want. Of course, not by the books or how history will write it, but they feel privledged and that is a dangerous game to play. The seem kind. They seem to want to do well. And I believe that they do. However, some make such fools of themselves. There are cameras everywhere and yet, the idiots to it over and over. I find them fascinating, but laughable. William and Harry and their spouses-YES Megan too...are taking the brunt because there are those that want to make them at fault for all those before them. The truth, being 12 million pounds, was paid to keep andrew from going to court.That was a lot of taxpayers' money.The whole thing stinks.
